We went to this theater to watch a wonderful latin trio called "Los Panchos" and they are just amazing! They sing so beautiful!! We need them to come back! There is nothing like them in Denver! I enjoy this venue. You do need to find street parking in the vicinity, but there is enough that it is not an issue. The folks who work here are always welcoming and excited for the performances. We met up with friends to go to a comedy performance and had a fun evening with them. They have a bar and do accept credit cards as well as cash. It is a fun place to see a show. read more

Time for an update! Yet another pleasant experience at The "O". Came here to the sold out Michael Schenker show and I must say, the venue still operates well. From checking in, ordering drinks, and buying band merch, everything ran smoothly. Even with only one bar and two bartenders working, the line of patrons moved quickly, which was pretty impressive IMO. Definitely recommend The "O's" signature drink, Dragon Punch. It does pack a nice punch. ;) The sound quality was super and even being in the back of the venue, we were still able to have great views of MS and his band. The venue has decent space (max 750 for this show) but I think it depends on the artist and how they organize the orchestra floor. On this particular night, everything was reserved seats, so no GA. The only downsides are the cramped restrooms and the parking. It is hard to find the latter so try and arrive early, but not too early. Street parking is available but mind the signs or risk a tow. Streets have a 2 hour parking limit between 8-5. read more

Came here to see the comedy show "Dating is a Dumpster Fire." It was my first visit and I really enjoyed it. #1 the show was hysterical!! What's better than a good Tinder profile roast!? The theater itself gave me real nostalgic vibes, despite never being there before. I've heard they put on a lot of unique and cool shows. One thing I was craving the whole time was popcorn or some snacks. That would have really added to the experience. Also would be nice to have some 0% alcohol offerings. I absolutely love this venue and hope to catch more shows here! The associates were friendly and warm. The venue is an intimate setting and you get a great view of the stage no matter where you land! The interior is unique and has that old theatre feel. Reminded me of a few venues back home in the Bay Area, so it was nostalgic for me. This is a great small venue to see a band here. The sound is not absolutely perfect, but I love that you can get close to the stage. They also have seating which is nice if you need it. The bartenders were fantastic and also gave free refills if you are drinking soda. I would absolutely go to see another show here. read more

I love this place! As a short person, I love a venue with multiple levels, so I have an actual shot at seeing the stage. Most concerts are standing room only. However, their comedy events are seated. They don't have fixed seating (like the hell that is the lack of leg room at The Paramount), it's folding chairs. If you sit at the front row of a level, there is a rail for your beverage. Otherwise, you're holding it. If the show is sold out, the line for the bar tends to be long, but it moves fast. Occasionally they will open a second bar upstairs and even a third inside the main floor. But, for the most part you are headed out to the lobby to get your beverages. I'm a fan of grabbing multiple tallboys to save myself multiple trips to the bar and if it's SRO, I'm less likely to spill my drink on someone if it's in a can. Tickets: If you get your tickets online, you'll pay a fee, but it's not ridiculous like Ticketmaster or AXS. If you want to avoid the fees, you can go to the Berkeley Bodega next door to the venue and pay cash for your tickets. You'll only pay a dollar fee to do this. But, of course, if the show gets cancelled, you have the added hassle of needing to get your refund in person. You'll have to balance out the hassle factor and hatred of ticketing fees for yourself ;) Most shows are GA. Occasionally you will have the option to buy a table for 4. This is a great option and totally worth the extra money. They reserve the table for you, so you can show up closer to showtime, rather than gather in line before doors open to claim your GA spot. But, if you are going to brave the line, there are some great restaurants within a block to get some food & drinks and keep an eye on the line. Bring your ticket to Berkeley Alley Beer Co. and get a discount on your beer! It's across the street from the venue in the alley. There is no dedicated lot, so plan ahead to arrive early and hunt for street parking. Parking here is nothing like trying to find parking near The Ogden or The Bluebird, it's way easier. I have never had to park more than a couple blocks away and I have never paid for parking. But, if it's cold and wet, investing in a ride share to drop you off in front is a great idea. read more

Spent my birthday bash at the oriental theatre. Had a magnificent time listening to an AC/DC (all female) tribute band. Absolutely amazing experience. Staff is great and you feel like you are at a full fledged concert. One suggestion, and only one, get rid of the Bird Dog whiskey and replace with Ole' Smokey or Screwball. Pretty sure that is a small and petty on my part. Cannot wait to return soon. read more

Last week we saw Denver-based performance group Itchy-O at the Oriental Theater. The performance was out of this world, and the venue was great. The Oriental Theater is located in what I, an out-of-towner, perceived as a clean and cool neighborhood called Berkeley. We drove over to the venue and found street parking just a couple blocks away. The staff at the Oriental was helpful and kind. We had forgotten our printed tickets at home and couldn't find the emailed tickets, but the ticket attendant at the door was able to look up our tickets quickly with her scanner device. I purchased VIP tickets because I'm still a little hesitant to be in large groups of people. The VIP section was located in the balcony and had its own bar and bathroom, and cost almost twice General Admission. However, the bathroom was just one toilet for everyone in VIP, so bathroom lines were long between acts (unsure how they compared to the GA bathroom line). And the bar line in the VIP section was longer than the GA bar line. I'm sure this differs show to show, but for future Itchy-O shows I would avoid VIP. Overall I'd love to return to the Oriental Theater and Id definitely recommend them as a great venue to see Itchy-O. read more

Very nice venue in Denver. Our Grandson played a concert here. It's older, but nice. The sound system was good and the people working there were very nice and professional. The down side is parking. No private lot, just street parking which was tricky. But a nice venue none the less. read more

The Oriental Theater is nestled right off of Tennyson on 44th in one of my favorite neighborhoods. When the High on Fire gig was announced my buddy and I jumped at the opportunity to purchase tickets. We call ourselves riffchasers, and we were pleased to hear one of our favorite metal bands was performing in our backyard. Nov. 29, 2019--High on Fire & Power Trip put on one hell of a show. And boy, the riffs were crunchy, sludgey and loud. It was an endless supply of high octane riffage that the Oriental a Theater handled with ease. The layout of the venue is formulaic yet appealing. There are even some tables with a view that a few extra $$$ will solidify. For this show, we paid the fairly low GA price and were as close to the stage as humanly possible. The bar staff did their job and the bathroom lines moved fairly quickly. For a snowy Denver evening, we had a blast. Though the joint could use a renovation or two, the bones are solid for a killer rock show. \m/ read more

Been here for a few performances and even emceed! It seems like a slightly older venue (folding chairs and creaky stairs) but the staff that works here is always very sweet, whether at the bar or in the box office. Especially love that the bartender is usually pretty heavy handed... from an audience perspective it's a good time! AV booth is accessible and visible from the stage. There's not much of a green room except for the small upstairs area, so I've seen groups use a space off the back alley. FREEZING in the winter, though. Backstage is tiny and narrow. I've also heard the theater booting events to make room for larger concerts which I DON'T like. Anyways, it's one of the only large venues in Denver that will support rigging for aerial acts, so there's not always much of a choice. Despite how busy this street is, I can somehow always find parking. Plenty to eat and drink in the area. Can't complain about the location. Just the ancient ticketing and spotty event planner experience! read more

I was really starting to get nervous that the Oriental wouldn't make it through months of closure with no revenue coming in. We attended their happy hour event yesterday which had already reached capacity for the band by the time we arrived, but we were still able to hang out with a cocktail and see/hear the band from the front of the building. Oriental is one of my favorite venues to see bands here in Denver, and not just because it's the only legit concert hall that's within walking distance from my house. The massive wall-to-wall stage that dominates the room is further enhanced by the sloped floor, which translates to no bad seats in the house so that you can see the band from literally any where in the venue - front lobby where the bar is located, included. Oriental is always bringing in rad small- to mid-size touring acts, and I've always found both the door and bar staff to be super friendly. The overall vibe of this place is unpretentious and maybe a little on the dive-y side. Bottom line, I love it. If you want to support the Oriental, they are currently selling merch in the little bodega east of the main doors. Hats and t-shirts printed up specifically to bring in some revenue as COVID restrictions gradually loosen are reasonably priced at $20/each - I picked up a shirt last night and so should you... Oriental Theater is an institution worth saving - support it while you can! read more

The Oriental is a classic Denver venue -- they host concerts, Lucha libre, speaking engagements, and Mortified Denver. I've been for everything but music. It's an older theater, which means there's some TLC needed to keep the place afloat. Most recently the ceiling near the balcony got some new artwork. Before, the paint was peeling and it looked pretty sad. Now it's a brightly colored mural that seems like a Denver interpretation of Latin American rainforest. Not my first pick, but it looks way better than it did before. Seating can be tricky. There's a smattering of types of chairs available, depending on the size of the crowd. I'd recommend arriving before the scheduled showtime to ensure you're able to sit down, if you like that sort of thing. If there's a cash bar, get the house punch. It's usually a mix of juice and vodka, reminiscent of jungle juice from college days. Pretty good! read more

Saw 10 years band there last month. Love the venue, BUT disliked the security personal. Security in front of the stage were wearing big cowboy hats that blocked the view of us in the front. It was a rock show, but even if it was a county one, it still would have blocked the view. Also the security we completely rude and kicked everyone out 5 mins at the end, by yelling. I know I don't know everything that goes on, just wish if one thing would change, the management would not let the security wear BIG hats, because it blocks others view. read more

I love the Oriental Theater as it is one of the neighborhood places to see a show. I went to see X last night and I'm not sure what's up with the folks they hired to do security. As a handful of my 60+ fellow fans started to get a tiny pit going, some guy from security jumps into the crowd to do I don't know what. Stopping old people from having a little fun? This is a great theater. There's actually seating here on the sides, at tables. I guess it depends on the show though. The way it's set up is nice, there are different levels and you if you want to be rowdy you go up front. If you want to be a little more tame and just enjoy you can stay back. Great venue! read more

My friend and I went to a concert here Friday night! I loved the venue. Super straight and to the point- you have the bar right at the front when you walk in, the bathrooms there, and then you walk into a set of double doors and are inside the stage area. It was really big and there was plenty of space to stand. The bar has signs at it that says cash preferred, but we asked and they do take card so no issues there. The very first venue where the bartenders, the door guy and the owner are there to be your friend. Jerry (If I'm spelling it correctly) wasn't aggressive at the door about ID's and even was welcoming. We saw small business set up to sell their local goods, we saw a home-sweet-home bar with dim, green lights, chill music and a nice bartender by the name of Caitlin. The owner, Scott was there to shake my hand at the bar, I had to thank him for such top-notch service!! When we went to sit in for a Live Podcast show, Caitlin was serving drinks, we opened a small tab, and I was recommended "Andy's Drink," by her. Scott originally has credit for making that drink, so that was a plus. A.J. was also another nice fella who got our names down from the guest list created by Megan R. and we were happy to take our seats. The whole show had meaning, we saw "Get Mortified," a live Podcast where adults like you and me hear cute and cringe stories of childhood memories. In which, journal entries can be read out loud, photos could be shared etc. I thought it was soooooo funny. The actual room has sections that separate the seating, we sat in the middle, and we got there so early. We managed to get the only wooden table and we set our drinks there. The whole experience was absolutely great. Nothing to complain about. Am excited to look into their Burlesque shows for the future! read more

The theater itself it's a bit outdated however its quaint and nice enough. The main issue I have is anytime you buy tickets for any show the venue seems more concerned on selling tickets than making sure you get even bare minimum decent of seats. They also do not seem to care if people go right up to the stage and take photos. This of course blocks other peoples view and is also annoying to have to move around trying to see what is going on. The bar isn't to badly priced honestly. We paid 7 dollars last time for each of our drinks which is very normal for bar prices and honestly cheaper than most. The parking out here is a bit worse for the wear. I would definitely suggest showing up a minimum of 30 minutes early just so you can find decent parking. Overall the theater is a bit outdated, overpacked, but has decent priced drinks, okay street parking, and has good shows that use the theater. read more

Came here for a party on election night. They had political burlesque- a naked Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin prancing around on stage. Genius, I tell ya. Overall, the Oriental Theater seemed like a cool atmosphere for a show or a party. The night i was there they had a limited menu from their kitchen. Nothing fancy schmancy, but good old burgers, grilled cheese, chips and salsa, etc. I ordered the chips and salsa- the chips were straight out of the bag and the salsa was straight out of the can. And I ate it all anyway. They could probably use a better heating system (brrr) and that bathroom could use a bit of a makeover as well. It is called Berkley, and it is one of Denver's up-and-coming hottest neighborhoods. Last night we ventured over and up there to check out our friend's art show, which was art on magnets, or something like that. The big Oriental Theater sign hung high above the theater in only two neon letters, the rest of the lights were out, making this cheeky and yuppie-artist-mart even more sleazy to enter. I told my friend that the theater reminded me that maybe it used to be an old oriental porn house... Where men went to check out sexy Asian women on the big screen, and sat aisles and seats apart... for the privacy of course. The front of the theater is shmeared with smoky artists, probably hating the improvement's of health standards in Denver, where no smoking is allowed inside anymore. Suckers. One guy was in a robe and was telling his friend's a story... some kind of sexy story, because he was thrusting his hips and grinding his groin into the air as the smoker-crowd roared with laughter. We were excited to enter, despite the $8 cover fee, which I never like paying... But I guess if it is going to starving artists, then I don't mind helping feeding the creative class. Well, there we stood at the front door, and I can't help but to criticize the "moody" door clerks... as we asked about our friend, they had no idea what we were talking about, and instead pointed to the line-up on the wall... "It changes all the time dude, I have no idea." Really the truth is, that guy probably hates looking like a doofus, but enough of that negativity.... "May I see your ID's please?" We all passed our ID's except my 28-year old boyfriend, who lost his recently.... Nope, wouldn't let us in. Which I guess is smart of them, it just pissed us off at the time. So, we got in the door and were so tempted to leave my beau, but followed close behind him and decided to return to the Oriental Theater next week... When my boyfriend finally gets a new license. * Star one is for the location, hip, cool, smooth, and silky... Don't know if it's been mentioned, but the Oriental has recenly changed hands with the owner of 3 Kings Tavern now taking over. I don't know what he has in store, there's so much potential for the building. It does need some touch ups but it's a great venue, I see dinner theatre as a huge possibility. Was here for a Rock N Roll wedding reception that was opened to the public and probably one of the best post wedding bashes ever (what, no Electric Slide? THANK GAWD!!!) The staff was cool as hell and the lax atmosphere allowed for audience exploration behind stage, up around the balconies, all that fun stuff :) It was pretty fun. When I visited, this place was clearly set up as a music venue. But I was here to watch a movie, so uncomfortable folding chairs came out. Even the chairs with padding were miserable. Bar only, no food when I visited. No food truck either. Draft beer selection was pretty limited but they did have a full bar. It was pretty cramped. I didn't check out the balcony though. Seems like it would be a great intimate venue for bands. But I wouldn't recommend seeing a movie here. read more
