Hadn't been to Herb's since 2006. It was fun to go back. Great dive bar vibes. Drinks are reasonably priced, and though I only had water, I heard they make a mean martini. Lots of fun going on - great music, trivia, and of course great people watching. The two bartenders working seemed like fun dudes who were accustomed to the regulars as well as the "irregulars" such as myself. Great place. Give it a shot. read more

Herb's Hideout is not really the kind of place that you recommend to people but we had a lovely time. I found it on Yelp and was looking for a place that might have Live music on a Monday night. We were actually there too early for the music as the performer usually sets up around nine, but I appreciated that they had it, even though that we weren't there for it. Classy? No. Safe feeling? Sure. The bartender was Friendly as where the other patrons and speaking about it afterwards a friend who grew up in Denver said that it was the place you went after every other place had closed for the night. Please was really cool. Another little spot that had sticky floors and a rough crowd. Had a few shots and a couple drinks here. The music was blaring and I honestly thought I had gone to another bar at first, na this place was cool. Straight jazzy vibes. Bartenders were quick and it seems they have a good amount of regulars that come in. Def a cool spot. I will say the fellas in there are extremely friendly, and I don't judge but I'm wondering if it has a bit of gay clientele. I mean, I felt comfortable and chill and had a great time. If I could give zero stars, I would. Herb's Jazz & Blues in Denver was easily one of the worst bar experiences I've had in years. The staff only seems interested in serving people they personally know. We stood at the bar for nine full minutes while the bartender laughed, hugged, and poured drinks for everyone else who walked up--none of whom were actually in line ahead of us. When she finally acknowledged us, she flat-out told us she takes care of "friends and family first." Classy. To make things even worse, the place smelled like a mix of vomit and a porta-potty at a summer music festival. Not exactly the vibe you want with your $--actually, make that overpriced--cocktail. We later learned we were charged $2 more per drink simply because we weren't part of their little insider circle. Between the rude service, the odor, and the bizarre pricing games, this place is a joke. We won't be going back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for an actual good night out in Denver. read more

Like local music? Then Herb's is the place. On any night they will have a live band. We got into town on a Sunday and wanted to check out some local music. We asked the bartender in our hotel bar, about suggestions. FIrst thing he said was "Go to Herb's and you will prob see me there when I get off shift!" Love this spot! Boyfriend and I were walking around the Union Station area, ended up on Larimer, and spontaneously found this hidden gem. Perfect for some live music and good vibes! Great drinks. A very intimate setting the funk band on the night we went was amazing. This little venue/bar had really good acoustics and the stage is such that you can really get caught up in the intimate proximity to the band. However, the small size of this place is not for the faint of heart when it's jam packed. You gotta like people and not mind being close to others. Just finished a 9 day stop in Denver on a trip across America. On my first night I went out looking for nightlife on Larimer Street. I stopped in a few different places but they were all pretty standard. Nothing special. Then Herb's caught my eye and I went in. Long story short, I stopped by almost every single night while I was in Denver. Great live music with a different band every night. The staff were amazing, the drinks were cheap. Met so many interesting people and had the most hilarious conversations on the patio out back. Can't recommend this place enough if you're into intimate "dive" bars with lots of character! OMG what happened to this place? My wife and I have been coming here for 20 years. We flew in from Arizona to bring in the New Year at Herbs. We got our usual bar seats and readied ourselves for some great music from AOA. Two of the owners play in the band and are some of the sweetest people you would ever meet! BUT, we were profoundly let down by one of the rudest bartenders we have ever been serviced by. I think her name was Danielle? Not only did she yell at my wife for asking for a re-fill, (as we waited patiently due to the crowd) but scolded others as well! We have never seen this type of horrible customer service at Herbs. EVER. In fact, we had always been very welcomed to Herbs by the owner, Laura and former bartender Robbie. (not sure what happened to him, but he was amazing) We moved to Arizona 2 years ago and flew back to Denver just to bring in the 2025 new year at Herbs! What a complete disappointment!!! My wife and I also work in the service industry, so we know how busy it can get, but to treat customers with such disrespect...OMG. Needless to say, we will not be returning. We were embarassed by her behavior, demenaor and lack of respect to so many custumers. Herbs, please move on from this Danielle bartender before she runs off many more customers. 20 years we've been coming there. All it takes is one person to hurt the reputation of a bar! read more

I'm no stranger to dive bars so Herb's is my kinda place. We weren't here long as we had to go meet up with someone down the street, but I was already having a good time. Drinks are cheap and even though the place was packed we were able to snag a round of 'em pretty quick. The band was crushing and crowd was crushing on them as they had the whole place engaged. I never made it to the back patio... did I mention it was packed? But we posted up across from the bar and enjoyed the space for a bit. Was looking for a chill spot to watch live music during my stay in Denver. Everything started off great and I opened a tab when we arrived. When I went to grab us another round about 30 min in, they wouldn't serve me. I waited around 40 mins to try and order and the bartenders skipped over me about 10 times. They even verbally told me they'd be right with me and then went back to the other side of the bar. I thought it might be because I was at the end of the bar except they served a couple people right away who walked up next to me and even had served some people two rounds within that time. I ended up having to ask the security guard to close my tab because I couldn't even get them to do that. This turned out to one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar and I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I was really excited about trying this place out for my 50th birthday. I'm visiting here from Texas and it had a high rating and I wanted to hear some live music. Well, the music was great, but the service sucked. I guess I just wasn't the right color. People on both sides of me got served. One guy even pushed me out of the way to get to the bar and almost knocked me over with a barstool. Each time it was my turn, the bartenders would go to the opposite end of the bar. I've been coming to this place for 8 years, on ​occasion. I didn't make it a regular bar because, in spite of decent music and history, it catered to a younger, drunker crowd and was known to smell like puke. I recently went for the 90th anniversary party and had a much better time than expected and I ended up leaving my coat. I called the next day and the owner confirmed having my coat, even confirming the brand without me telling it to her. She told me I could come pick it up. I told her I'd be t​here on Friday after work. When I got there an employee checked the list and found and couldn't find it. She was kinda rude and I had to ask 3 times for her to check with the owner. She finally called the owner, who confirmed the location. It wasn't there. Given the location only a staff member could've taken it. I was told someone would call me. No one did. I messaged and tagged them on Facebook, with no reply. I think it's awful to have thieving staff and I obviously can't ever go back. A waste of such a storied legacy. read more

No 21 year olds dressed as sluts. basically herbs offers.... unique group of locals, despite being located in LoDo. less cliquey groups of people, all down to have a good time. awesome drink specials/prices in general. [super cheap and major bang for your buck!] local bands [even jazz!] thats perfect for dancing and jamming out to! low key and relaxed atmosphere/decor with an underground vibe. just my kind of place :) read more
