My son was prescribed a stronger topical steroid which made the situation worse. So after going to a closer location, the new dr said that he had ringworm and shouldn't have been prescribed a topical steroid because it makes it worse. So, the new provided prescribed a new ointment and an oral medication for 30 days with 1 refill. Typical treatment when ringworm is in your scalp is 4-6 weeks. 10 days into the new treatment, we run out of the oral medication. After talking to the pharmacist, they indicated the dr calculated the amount incorrectly. So, we only had 1 refill on a 10-day supply. I'm upset that he was misdiagnosed back in March and that I sent him to school and other places where others were exposed. I'm upset that the 2nd dr didn't calculate the right medicine and we almost were without meds if the pharmacy didn't realize that the order that was sent over was incorrect. I'm frustrated that this could have been in the past and now we are trying to treat a condition that he's now had for months! This was such a horrible experience and was one issue after the next. I would never go back here and would never recommend this place. We transitioned to a new dermatologist office who we are much more confident in treating our son. While the staff was polite, that doesn't do any good if the competence is lacking. If I could give this place a 0, I would.

During those two weeks, not a single person from the office contacted me to explain that a parent or legal guardian must be physically present for a minor's initial visit. I intentionally scheduled this appointment before school started so my son would not have to miss class. Instead, he took time off work, drove to the office, checked in, and was then informed he would not be seen because I was not there in person. My son is nearly 17 years old and less than two years away from leaving for college. He is more than capable of attending a routine dermatology appointment on his own. If the practice requires a parent to be physically present despite a patient being mature enough to drive himself, hold a job, and manage his own appointment, that is certainly their prerogative--but it is also their responsibility to communicate that requirement before the appointment, not after the patient has already arrived. To be clear, I have absolutely no issue with that policy. I have every issue with a practice that fails to communicate it. When I spoke with the office manager, I expected a simple acknowledgment that the situation could have been prevented with a phone call, text, or email. Instead, I was told I should have known, that I should have called the office rather than using Zocdoc, and that there was essentially nothing to be done. If this office chooses to accept appointments through a third-party scheduling platform, then the responsibility to communicate office-specific requirements belongs to the office--not the patient. Suggesting otherwise is simply an attempt to shift responsibility for an entirely preventable mistake. I offered to FaceTime during the appointment or complete any required paperwork electronically so my son could still be seen. There was no willingness to accommodate, no effort to problem-solve, and no recognition that their lack of communication had now caused him to miss work unnecessarily and will require him to miss school for a rescheduled appointment. Policies are understandable. Poor communication is not. A complete lack of accountability is even less so.

That said, I've been going to Rodgers Dermatology for a few years now and I've had a good experience. I recently had a few procedures done, and everything went smooth from start to finish. The staff was friendly, the providers explained what was going on, and they made the whole process easier than I expected. I felt comfortable during the visits, never felt rushed, and appreciated that they answered my questions without making it a big deal. Overall, I'm glad I went and would recommend them, especially to anyone who may be putting off going to a dermatologist.
