This may sound silly but this is actually one of the most difficult reviews I've ever had to write. Generally reviews are fueled by bad experiences or even good experiences of a nature you'd expect from a service you requested. In this case I'm trying to put into words how our guide Mark exceeded our expectations not only in service but in personal qualities that are difficult to quantify. Melanie (the owner of BBT) was more than accommodating when I contacted her months in advance prior to our tour. She had the ultimate Kentucky knowledge and best suggestions to create the most ideal itinerary the day of the tour. I left it up to her and our guide Mark to plan our day aside from one distillery (Beam) we wanted to visit. We were picked up in a pristine SUV full of snacks, waters, electrolyte sports drinks and good company. In short, Mark provided us with an experience I can only equate to being led around by an old friend who's showing you his old stomping grounds. He knew every nook of the trip, had insight to every distillery we visited and clearly had made personal contacts with distillery staffers that paved the way to a wonderful experience for us. Mark filled in the gaps between destinations with his vast knowledge of the area and his jokes which ran the entire gradient of quality. We never felt rushed or hurried. We were always provided the best insight and the best information and it was delivered in the best way possible. I cannot over emphasize how much I appreciate the expertise, professionalism, care and charm of BBT generally with Melanie and Mark specifically. I can't wait to use their services again when I return. read more

I had an incredible experience with Bluegrass Bourbon Trail Tours, thanks to the fantastic organization and care provided by Melanie, the owner. Her communication was top-notch, and she crafted a well-thought-out itinerary that made our day seamless and enjoyable. Our driver, Brian, was equally impressive. He was knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about each stop, and kept us on schedule to ensure we made every appointment without feeling rushed. The only minor hiccup was the lunch provider, Staxx BBQ -- specifically, the brisket, which seemed steamed or boiled, leaving it tough and lacking flavor. I'd suggest opting for a different lunch option or provider. Additionally, our itinerary included four stops, which felt a bit ambitious, though this was no fault of Bluegrass Bourbon Trail Tours, as we specified the distilleries we wanted to visit. For a more relaxed experience, I'd recommend sticking to three stops at most to fully take in the distillery properties and perhaps enjoy a cocktail on-site. Overall, I highly recommend Bluegrass Bourbon Trail Tours to anyone looking to explore the Bourbon Trail. I was planning a trip to the bourbon trails to celebrate my 50th birthday. I contacted several tour companies, and Melanie was the first to get back to me and I knew I was going with Bluegrass Bourbon Tours. Melanie and I talked for 45 minutes on the phone like we were old friends. I told her what distilleries I was interested in, and she took care of everything. My wife and I spent the entire day with Melanie on our first day and had a great time laughing and telling stories. She had a great place picked out for lunch, and a WONDERFUL place for dinner. On our second day, we had Mark as our guide and he was just as wonderful, with great stories of the history of the area, distilleries, and bourbon in general. Mark is also the king of dad jokes. Everything about our trip- from the planning, the tours themselves, to the special stops, the recommendations, and all of the personal touches Melanie and Mark provided to make the occasion special and memorable. After a year in the making with our friends from Napa we just finished out multi day tour of the Bourbon Trail. Melanie, the tour you put together was absolutely amazing!! All of the ones we wanted to see and then some. Mark, you were the best tour guide anyone could ask for and agree with Ron you are the Honorary Mayor of the Bourbon Trail. This was one of the very best tours we ever took ( and we travel a lot)! Melanie was terrific in organizing the tour based on our interests. Ensured that the tour would included stops and visits in distilla that my husband wanted to go to. Even had a mini birthday cake for him as this trip was to celebrate him. The stop at the Godolphin stables was an amazing experience. Don't let me get started about Mark our guide/driver... I will not comment on his knowledge and intersecting presentation of what we were seeing (that is his job)... what makes him unique is that by the end of the day we were saying goodbye to a friend. Highly recommend Bluegrass Bourbon Tours. Melanie was very professional and knowledgeable. We booked a tour with another couple for our anniversary. A bit last minute, so many distillery tours were booked up. After discussing with Melanie the distilleries that were on our list, she came up with a great plan and was able to get us on the tour we wanted. We had a great day and a lot of fun with our tour guide Ed, who was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. We were able to get some great bottles and had a blast. BBT was fantastic. Mark was a blast. His knowledge allowed us to visit more than eight distilleries in two days. The mini bus was clean and comfortable and made moving between the distilleries a easy. When I first contacted BBT, Melanie called me back right away. She was the only one of the four groups I contacted that called me back and actually took the time to walk me through the options. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
