This store is in the downtown Market Square in Lake Forest. I was greeted twice by the staff in this store stocked with high end cosmetics, soaps, candles. I bought some Osea products (I've bought from the line before), but unfortunately the skin mist makes my skin itch so I'll have to return it. Hope that goes well. They gave me some free samples. I might not become a regular customer but the products here are luxurious and high quality. read more

Went today with my daughter to purchase $2,000 in gift cards for corporate presents. Decided to ask about my free annual gift while I was there. Words cannot adequacy express the manner in which the elderly associate spoke to me. There are many, more polite ways in which to tell someone that they have run out of annual gifts. This woman felt it more empowering to laugh and belittle me. Needless to say, my daughter and I left almost immediately after that I purchased my employees's gift cards at William Sonoma down the street. I will NOT be returning to this store, and I will make sure to share my story with others. No one should be meant to feel so disrespected and uncomfortable; not to mention they lost out on a huge sale today. read more

Most of the salespeople who work here are delightful. There's one woman however who has repeatedly had the same snooty attitude whenever I've stopped in. If you're not interested in the products she recommends, she insinuates that it must be because you can't afford them. I was even redirected to another salespeople to help me because I was "looking for something less expensive" (and no, I didn't say that). What a poor "sales tactic." And sorry, you're not impressing anyone! read more

I typically have a good experience at this store but I just faced the rudest sales associates I've ever had to deal with. I had some items to exchange. The first woman was downright hostile and wouldn't work with me. The second woman handled the exchange but said at the end "You better not return these items!" Wow. There wasn't the nice store manager there - otherwise I would have pulled her in. I get things are much different with the pandemic but that doesn't entitle store associates to be rude and mean. read more

I seriously love this store and location! I am always greeted warmly from the moment I walk in, and the store is so clean and pristine! The associates all seriously know their stuff, too! I walk in like a kid in a candy store and leave feeling like a rock star! They are so generous with samples and I love all the lines they carry - especially RMS, Nest, and some other hard to find brands. The manager is so sweet and hilarious to boot - she always makes great recommendations that keep me coming back for more. A+++ all around! read more

One of the worst Bluemercury's i've been too. The workers were snippy and unwelcoming. I was in yesterday with my father, and the sales associate (shorter lady with blonde hair, with a slight European accent) was extremely unhelpful and rude. She told me "to try other stores like ulta" and did not suggest any other similar products from the store. She immediately left in the middle of our conversation as the phone rang without excusing herself. This store unfortunately left a bad taste of Bluemercury. read more

I almost always enjoy shopping here. But last time I was in I was told Darphin offered a complementary gift with purchase. I purchased a couple of things that also offered gifts with purchases, which I received when I checked out, except for the Darphin gift, which I then asked for. When I got hope I opened the complimentary Darphin gift bag and it was empty except for a bunch of tissue paper. I called the store and asked if there should have been something in there or was the empty bag the complete gift. I was told absolutely not, there should have been some kind of sample products in there and to come back and they would give me another. I returned to the store but was told there was only one other Darphin gift left and that the gift was just the bag, even though the woman I talked to on the phone said otherwise. When I gently questioned it the woman said with certainty the empty bag was the complete gift, but as a courtesy she was giving me a complimentary small tube of Darphin hand cream. And then she said "and you have all your other little gifts so you should be all good". It seemed weird. When I went home I looked up the Darphin website and the first thing that popped up was their gift with purchase--the exact little bag I received which included four trial sized products. So I recommend you always check your gift bags, apparently the contents can sometimes disappear. read more

I love this place. Close to home, great selection, and a mostly awesome staff who go out of their way to accommodate me and find products that match my needs. Only reason I am not giving a higher rating is a woman who works there but can't seem to be bothered unless I'm the only one in the store, and even then she ignores me until I ask her a question. I have seen her jump up when other, more Lake Forest looking clients have walked in and then give a half hearted apology for not helping me when I walked out. I go in fairly regularly and always get the same vibe from her, even though the only time I leave without buying something is when I can't get help. read more

I cannot believe anyone would have a poor experience here. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating. Additionally, I have paid credit for tips, but usually do not as I know that it is better for service industry workers to receive cash. I go there regularly to get massages, facials as well as buy products. There was a time where I scheduled a 90 minute massage, but I regularly only get a 60 min so Jill stopped at 60. I thought the appt was made in error, but that was ok. They were SO APOLOGETIC that they gave me A TON of free gifts and they charged me only for 30 minutes. I was just there today and used a gift they gave me around Mother's day, a handwritten note giving me 90 min massage at 60 min price. I cannot express how great everyone is there. I shop there because it is owned by a woman, staffed by mostly women and is not a heartless chain (I have been to Elizabeth Arden in Northbrook many times before coming here exclusively). They also have Friends and Family in Nov and products are 10-20% off depending on total purchase. This is a great store where they BEND OVER BACKWARDS in a genuine way to make your experience a great one! read more

Stopped in today with no particular need for products. My expectations for great and knowledgeable customer service were low based on several experiences at this store in the past. Paula greeted me and when I said I was just browsing she graciously said if I needed help she was available. I asked for assistance with Darphin then left her again to look for a lipstick alone. Tess the manager asked if I was finding everything I needed. In the end I bought $290 of product. They were knowledgeable, friendly and graceful with their sales. I especially liked how well they got along in partnering to help with my needs instead of feeling threatened by each other and competing for my attention. I received appropriate samples and they welcomed me back. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had at any salon/beauty store. I'm an esthetician and this is my passion. I'm unbiased to this store and buy many of my medical grade products through supply chains online. I bought product from this store because I trusted the advice and felt very excited for the first time in a long time about in store purchases. Well done Blue Mercury investing in GREAT people!!!! I love this place and the ladies working there are so helpful! Yola recommended some wonderful products based on my skin type and Magda did a fantastic job with waxing my eyebrows. They did a mini facial for me to try some products and then set me up with a full makeover. Only Blue Mercury I've tried. I don't wear a lot of makeup so I guess that is why I was ignored in the store as all the clerks gossiped. Finally I had to approach one to ask for the product I wanted - a Clinique mechanical brow pencil. She had trouble finding it so perhaps that is the reason that she grabbed any box with a pencil and sold me the wrong product. Never assuming this would happen I didn't check until I ran out of my old pencil and got an unpleasant surprise as I was getting ready in the morning. Rude and lazy is how I'd describe the people at the Lake Forest store. read more

This place came with really high reviews, so I had high hopes as it is hard to find a new eyebrow waxer. I made an appointment for 11:30 when I arrived at 8 minutes to, the girl working at the front desk yelled at me for being early and told me I had to leave and come back. I took 2 laps around Market Square when I was planning on spending the 8 minutes shopping in their store. Then I had my eyebrow wax. I told her I didn't want my eyebrows to be too thin, and I left with very straight eyebrows with no shape that looked like they hadn't been waxed. When I made the appointment they didn't tell me that they want tips to be cash only. I asked her to add a tip to my credit card and the same girl who yelled at me for being early yelled at me again, telling me that if I put the tip on my credit card my the woman who did my service will have to pay taxes on it and that doesn't work well for anyone involved. If they had told me that tips had to be in cash when I scheduled my appointment as a new client I would have been prepared for it. The eyebrow wax cost $30 not including tip and I think it is down there as one of the worst I've ever had. read more
