I had a great experience with Hilary! She helped me out so much and had the answer to every question I asked! However, the main girl who seemed like a possible floor manager. Was wearing a black dress and white vans today, had medium length dark brown hair. SUCH a bitch. She checked me out at the register and immediately seemed annoyed that I was ready to check out as she gave no sort of social interaction or smile (customer service is literally your job) except telling me to put my phone number in the machine. Also overheard her talking shit about another coworker while I was waiting which was unprofessional and embarrassing in my opinion. I'd come back here, but I'd avoid this employee at all costs. She does not know basic manners or kindness. Seems to hate her job. Ruined the experience for me. read more

This review is primarily a review on Ulta Beauty the company. We love Ulta! I spend lot's of money here. Lol. Their selection, sales, gifts with purchase and Ultimate Rewards program is the best! The stores are clean, spacious, bright and welcoming. They have a great selection of merchandise at various price points from drugstore to high-end. The Highland Park and Northbrook locations are my favorite. If the one by my house, Old Orchard is out of something, generally, one of the 2 stores will have it. The employees are always kind and helpful! My only gripe is sometimes it can be hard to find certain things. At times, there's no rhyme or reason to the placement of merch. It's sad when they stop carrying some of our favorites and we have to turn to another retailer or order directly from the brand. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Ulta yet! I've had the opportunity to shop in person and online. Most recently, I took advantage of their curbside pickup on a very rainy day. What a great service! It was so easy and convenient that I cant wait to do it again. The experience was super easy peasy. I ordered online and 30 minutes later I received a text that the order was ready. I drove over (5 minutes from my house) and pulled up to the pickup sign. I was instructed to text a number to let them know when I arrived. As soon as I sent that text, an extremely friendly employee came out with my purchase in a plastic bag placed in a sanitzed box. That was that! As far as shopping inside the store a few months ago, I went in looking for a particular product recommended by my son's dermatologist. They carry the product online, but it's not in their stores. Even though they didn't have it available, one of their employees recommended a few backup products...just in case. The store was spotless. I'll be back! read more

Very impersonal with zero customer service. Always ask for a receipt. Even if you try to return or exchange something within 10 minutes with the same bag and at the same store, they will treat the customer as a criminal who is trying to return damaged goods. If they run out of receipt paper in their registers and you do not have your email address, phone number or belong to their club, you will never be able to return or exchange anything no matter if the transaction took place only several minutes before. No wonder shopping online is so much easier. Mr. Hanson & Mr. George should value their customers more and tell their employees to always issue a receipt of the transaction, no exceptions. Not everyone wants to give Ultra their email or phone numbers just to get bombarded with marketing & promos. Buy some more register paper and train all employees how to refill their registers. The reason why brick and mortars suck is because they don't know basic customer service. Came here to buy cologne for myself and wanted to use a tester which appeared was missing on their display. I asked a very nice clerk who had to ask her manager if they could create another tester bottle. The "manager" was in no uncertain terms anything but. She came by and looked at some bar code and said nope can't make a tester. It rang up full prices when I pulled the sign out he cashier indicated that sale ended and they wouldn't honor it. Super snotty and rolled her eyes at me. I left and won't be back to this store. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and employees were super helpful and not at all intimidating or hovering like some can be at other places. First off, this store is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Second, I was a little reluctant to come here based on the other reviews about poor customer service, but I was in the area and figured "why not?!" since I know Ulta like the back of my hand. I was promptly greeted by one of the managers and had multiple employees check in during my 30 minute beauty run. And when I had an issue finding one of my beloved hair products, one of the women who works the salon area went out of her way to track down the product, which I truly appreciated. Mallory did an awesome job with my brown wax and tint at the Benefit Brow Bar. She consulted with me about the look I was going for before getting started, and again at the end to ensure I was satisfied with my brows (100% yes!). She mentioned being able to make any notes so we could get things just right again next time which I appreciate. I have never had a bad experience in my life at Ulta at this location. The sales person could have told me that she didn't have the product. Beauty Buyers Beware! When you're making a purchase at Ulta and the pushy sales person encourages you to join their reward program, STOP. Because in fact, it is not just a rewards program, it is an Ulta Rewards CREDIT CARD. I have no use for another store credit card and never would have agreed to this had the full information been presented to me. I realized it literally 5 seconds after I pressed agree.... And when I asked for the card to be cancelled... there was, no surprise, "nothing they can do." The store manager couldn't have looked less interested in trying to help and just told me to call the bank. Thanks Ulta, for nothing. I will happily be going a little more out of my way and possibly even spending more money to get the same products at stores that are far more reputable. read more

I had some sun spots removed from my face last week. I went to ulta and was helped by Rosie. I needed a concealer. Rosie recommended Benefit along with a fixater that would keep the makeup on my face all day. These 2 products work beautifully and no one can see the skin as it is healing. Rosie spent so much time with me explaining application and checking out colors for my skin tone. I was dreading recovery but because of Rosie, I am out in public living my life. Forget this place. Bought hair product from them about 1 or 2 weeks ago and it was not strong enough. I called after one use to see if I could return it and was told "yes" by the adult on the phone. Went in yesterday to return and get a new product. Lot's of young staff but few if anyone knows where to find things and how the product will work on hair. Anyway, I decided on three items and went to the front for my return and my purchases. Lady at counter asked for my phone number which I thought would be in their system but wasn't. I then gave my wife's name and number and they had her name but wrong number. They then tried to find the item as purchased but no luck. I did not have the receipt and since the girl at the counter when I made the purchase did not enter my number or my wife's, which I am sure I gave her, the checkout person said she cannot take my item back. So instead of a full refund for the product I purchased they gave a little over $1.00. Quite a gyp and all because the young girl at the counter did not enter anything properly when I made my original purchase. There are stores that make exceptions but this not one of them. Also very unapologetic about the whole return process. I should have just left everything I purchased on the counter and walked out but I did not. Lesson learned. It will be a very cold day in the summer before I walk into this store again. read more

Big fan of this new location! It's a huge improvement over the previous one at Deerbrook. The layout is really nice - large aisles in beauty with all the brands you could want. The associates were really friendly without being overbearing. Some of the Clinique stock was a bit of a mess - wrong colors behind the testers, wrong products behind the testers, but some amount of that is to be expected on a busy weekend afternoon. For the most part, everything was really nicely organized. I like that the locations of the qtips and cotton swabs for testing are in the middle of the displays instead of just along the end caps. From Mac, Tarte, Clinique, Urban Decay, Laura Gellar and more. Also offers plenty to choose from in value based lines as well. Nyx, Morphe, and all those brands you see at other local drugs stores. They have skin care, hair products, tools and accessories as well as a salon in house. Overall, this could be a one stop shop for makeup & hair for all you ladies. Definitely stop in to see their expansive selection of products. The girls are super and will help you narrow down a selection for your needs. Glad to have them so close by the house. I really dread shopping at ANY ulta location but unfortunately I have to because they carry certain products I need. First of all the employees are so unhelpful and selective on who they want to help. If you don't look like you should be in this or any ulta location, they ignore the hell out of you. Second it is so annoying having a rewards number and getting no rewards out of it. I remember a few times having to ask if I have any rewards for $$ off my purchases and either it doesn't qualify for what I bought or the answer is no and they say it soo ignorantly. What's the purpose of this?! Third stop asking if I want an ULTA credit card with each purchase, this is very annoying! Maybe corporate can stop this practice if the individual stores have no control over this. That's really it. Treat your customers better ULTA because unfortunately I have to shop there but believe me I only buy what I need...nothing more. Too bad read more

Went to this store on a Sunday and was very disappointed! While the store itself is nice, they do not have enough staff to help customers. Or the staff doesn't want to be bothered! One register was open with a line of people waiting to pay and I asked 4 times for assistance and waited in an area I was told staff would meet me at to assist me for 15minutes but nobody came to help. It was a very frustrating and disappointing experience! I had approximately $100 of items in my hand and ended up putting them back and leaving empty handed. I will not spend my money where I have to practically beg for assistance and be treated like I'm bothering staff because I need assistance! I hope they get it together! read more

I have to tell you about my experience with Ashley from the salon. She did such an amazing job at lifting and changing my light brown hair to platinum. She knew exactly what she was doing and what I had in mind. She did have to multi task and help other appointments, but always checked in on my progress. What a great store- so clean and amazing service! Everyone there has been so friendly and helpful all 3 times I've visited since they've opened. I love all the prestige and boutique options they have there too including Clinique, Lancôme, and MAC. My mom loved her consult with Katie at Clinique- she learned how to properly apply her eyeliner and fill in her eyebrows, which she was excited about. Beware of the prices you are paying. I was in need of an Olay product and the Ulta pricing product for product was $10.00 more than at Target or even on the Olay website. This was the worst experience at a hair salon for my daughter. She went in for a haircut and received an uneven cut. The stylist blew dry her hair straight and left it completely frizzy. We asked her to flat iron to straighten it out. We were told this was an extra charge. The stylist finished and it was still frizzy and the haircut looked even more uneven. We were told that the flat iron added was 30 dollars extra. Her hair was still completely frizzy! I told the manger and she basically stated nothing. No apologies- she did take off the 30 dollar flat iron charge. This salon is brand new and I do NOT recommend it to anyone. I cannot believe they made me pay for my daughter's haircut. She now needs another one to even it out. read more
