On a Friday night, it wasn't as packed when we went, which was nice because every other place had a tournament or was packed. This place was old school but nice. I love Bluemound Bowl and am surprised by the more negative reviews. This is a classic, roomy, and well-lit bowling alley with a nice selection of house balls. The layout is spacious and comfortable (no squeezing by the other players when it's your turn). It has automatic scoring and leaves it at that - no music videos or meme channels. The bar area is huge. The woman at the front desk was friendly, and we've never had trouble getting a lane. The only thing that would make BB better is maybe the occasional hourly or discounted bowling rate (summer pass???) and if it was a smidge closer to my house. :) read more

It's not my favorite alley, but it's nice enough. It could benefit from a little updating but the dated decor does offer a nostalgic feel. It's a good place for large groups and families, as long as parents are watching their children. read more

We took the kids to bowl here during break. It was a 45 min wait for a lane which was tough. Understaffed for sure. It was not clean which you kind of expect at a bowling alley but dirtier than others I've been to. I would not go back. read more

In town visiting family for the holidays so bowling is a perfect family activity. This smaller venue was suggested since it would be easier to get a lane. The place is pretty typical of an old school bowling lane without all of the fancy graphic displays though it does score for you. It is a bit rough around the edges but hey its a bowling alley. The bar area is dark and cave-like and retro in its own way. The help at the front desk was not exactly welcoming - I guess it is hard to find good help these days! read more

Went here for a date night with my boyfriend. We specifically chose this bowling alley because their COVID precautions were posted on their website (masks required, everything sanitized, groups every other lane, etc.) When we got there, no one was wearing a mask including the staff, we did not see anyone actively sanitizing the surfaces or bowling balls, and about half an hour after being there they put a group of 5 people without masks in the lane right next to us. To make things worse, there was no soap in the bathroom or any disposable towels. The staff was friendly and helpful, but we will not be returning until the COVID situation is more under control. read more

This place is pretty rad. We came in around 7 on a Friday night, and it seems like a real family run operation. I will say that the lanes were dry and that they were a bit short staffed seeming, but otherwise things were good! We had a nice time. They have about 16 lanes only, but it is a cool setup. If the lanes were in better shape and they had someone dedicated to working the bar I think it would have been a 4 star experience. read more

When I was a kid I used to go to Bluemound Bowl and bowl with some learning disabled kids once a month or so. Over the holidays I returned more than N years later where N is a BIG number. Though my skills have fallen off Bluemound Bowl about the same!! Four bowlers for two games plus shoe rental added up to about $40 if I remember right. There's plenty of parking and the guy up front was pretty helpful. We had a great time catching up with family and friends and bowling poorly throughout. Welp, 2020 will be a better year, and next time whether we do well or not we're heading down the road to Gilles frozen custard for a Turtle Sundae :-D!! read more

It felt like a time warp when I strolled into Bluemound Bowl the other night to roll as an alternate for a friend's team on league night. This is the kind of bowling alley I remember going to as a kid -- simple, good mix of young and old bowlers alike, and great service. There's a small restaurant/tavern built in, the employees were all nice, and the waitress (who was on point) visited for refills in a timely fashion. I certainly enjoyed the friendly back-and-forth banter between teams competing against one another. By the advertisements for Cosmic Bowling, I'm guessing this is a hot weekend spot for the kiddos, too. Overall, a good spot in the MKE suburbs -- not high-class by any means, but when you're just trying to knock down some pins, what does that really matter? I'll be back for sure. read more

I would discourage any non-league players from bowling here. Staff knowingly gave my group a non-functional lane (counted the remaining pins wrong). When asked about the errors, the staff lied and said there was nothing they could do to fix the problem. However, they assured my group that it would only miscount on gutter balls. This was not the case. Upon asking a second time, the staff was able to "fix" the problem by shifting the broken camera to the adjacent lane. Instead of blocking this lane, the staff continued to put people in this lane when they knew it was not working! Do not bowl here! read more

I can't speak to the bowling at Bluemound Bowl, but I can definitely vouch for the bar. It's charmingly old school, with an undulating snake of a layout. The décor is pleasingly 1970s, there's always a good microbrew or import on tap, and I enjoy Steve on Friday nights. Stop in during the Christmas season, when they display Greater Milwaukee's last white flocked Christmas tree and plenty of festive lights. read more

I bowled here tonight for the first time with my gf and two of her friends . There was just one guy working the lanes and bar (younger guy in his early 30s). He did a phenomenal job of accommodating our group and made us feel welcomed . He was very friendly and cracked a few jokes while we were drinking before bowling . Also, he was extremely efficient with getting us drinks , food, and helping out others (bar area got very crowded and he was the only one handling the bad.). This place was a great experience and I will recommend it for others . The guy working tonight made our adventure unforgettable . We will definitely be back. Beware! This place will overcharge you. I don't think this place even deserves a star. I've worked in retail and I understand that everyone has "their days", but this staff was horrible. Walked in there yesterday around 6pm and no one was in sight. Finally, someone saw us standing at the counter from the bar area and came and helped us. He was very short and abrasive with no patience at all when we were telling him shoe sizes. As the kids went to the lane and got ready, I asked him about the food they served. Again, very little help. Brushed it off and I proceeded into the bar area and ordered our food. Really no complaints about the bartender but not exceptional service either. After the kids bowled their first game (which took about 35 minutes) we had some trouble getting the second game going. The clerk had no problem helping. By the time they were coming to an end of their second game the food had come out. The food, which is already pre-cooked, took about an hour to get to us. Still brushed it off. I asked the server if we could get some water and she replied "I'm only serving the leagues tonight. You need to go to the bar." Very short and rude. By the time they were getting ready for their third game, I had my 9 year old go and ask how much the games were. He came back and said the shoes were $3 and $4 a game which we were now at $12 (minus the shoes). I told them to go ahead and play another one after the third. As they came to an end of the 4th game, I went to the desk to pay and the man said my total was $56. Wait, what!? We only got 3 pairs of shoes and played 4 games totaling $25. I payed for the food in the bar as you would at most establishments. The man said that the computer told him we played 11 games. We were there from 6 to just a little before 7:30, and they ate! How is it possible for 3 kids to play 11 games in an hour and half? The man stood there and argued with me for five minutes until my friend approached the desk and we both stood there and argued that we had played only 4 games. I asked him if it could have been a computer error but he refused to consider that. After another few minutes, I told him I wasn't paying for 11 games and he finally reluctantly had me pay for the 4. Between the crappy service, bad attitudes, and over charging we will never be returning to Bluemound Bowl. read more
