Food was served hot, portions were ample. We had croque madame, filet sliders as the mains. Croque madame had fresh ham, tomato bechamel and ground mustard and a perfectly fried egg on sourdough. I enjoyed the sandwich though my tastes were ready for a lightly browned cheese instead of a lava like cheese sauce though the flavor was terrific. The beef sliders were well seasoned and flavorful. 3 sliders ( not overly inventive )were a perfect savory meal. Do not miss the creamed corn! The bacon added texture and a nice hint of salt. The goat cheese flat bread was maybe the best offering for the evening..the goat cheese was melted wonderfully and the balsamic vinegar infused complexity all contained on the flat bread. The brownie with ice cream was a nice sweet ending to a great farm to table experience. Eli, our server knew the perfect inflection points to check in without becoming a helicopter server! We had a group of eight that made reservations and dined here at noon. They were very accommodating and were willing to do separate checks. I had Farmer Johnny's Pasta, which was described as "Rosemary lemon butter sauce, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, cheese blend." I would say the taste was good, but I think it would have been better with a few more vegetables among the pasta. Two had the pot pie, which really did look good, and is what I will try next time. My husband and I recently took my in-laws here for dinner. They have never been and we've been trying to find a date for a while now. Every time I decide to go to this restaurant, I am pleased. Our server was very attentive and social. Our food orders were accurate and timed well. We ordered the charcuterie board special and it was very tasty. My father and I both ordered the short ribs with carrots. I do get this almost every time I go to Parkside because I enjoy it that much. Of course we had to get a side of the corn! My husband and I love finding good farm to fork restaurants and we enjoyed our experience at Parkside 23. We had to sit in the bar area because the restaurant area was either full or reserved. This was the first time that I've seen a menu organized by price. We ordered the butter baked quarter chicken and farmer Johnny's pasta for entrees. Farmer Johnny's pasta had a rosemary lemon butter sauce and was loaded with vegetables. The chicken came with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a roll. Both dishes were delicious. For dessert, we ordered the creme brulee and the chocolate cake. I loved the creme brulee with its crispy crust and the chocolate cake was rich and decadent. A friend of mine recently moved to Wauwatosa, and I wanted to take her out to lunch on a Thursday someplace a little nicer than the normal lunch spot, since we were celebrating her move to her new place. I searched on Yelp and came across Parkside 23. It sounded perfect. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was very crowded. I called in to the restaurant to make sure they'd have room for us, and was told that yes, they had just had a cancellation for a table for two, so come on in. We did, and we were seated almost immediately. From the minute we walked in the restaurant, everything was perfect. Hostess Heidi was lovely, our server Sara was amazing, and the food was incredible. My friend had the meatloaf, and crème brûlée for dessert. She said both were great. She's not a drinker, but did have a couple Shirley Temples, which were perfect. I have the pretzel crusted veal with spaetzel. I asked for them to hold the asparagus, which is usually cut up in the spaetzel along with mushrooms and onions, and they did it perfectly. The veal was especially amazing, and the spaetzel was very good, too. I tried the Mr Manhattan, and had another one as my dessert. I'm always delighted when my usual craft cocktail is one of their classics on the menu. It was well-made, if a bit small for the price point. We've already decided that this will be our go-to place for lunch whenever I travel up from Chicago to visit my friend. I'm also making plans to bring my husband up there sometime, because I think he will love it, too. A great find! read more

I wanted to try Parkside 23 for quite some time. I finally booked a reservation for my birthday. This restaurant had been recommended to me by several people. And all of them raved about it. And now I understand why. The atmosphere is fantastic in the main dining room, which is where we were seated. It wasn't overly loud. The cocktail list is extensive, and they were delicious. The jambalaya was spicy and fantastic. I had the pasta with vegetables and it was fantastic as well. The cream corn appetizer was out of this world. I didn't know cream corn could be so amazing. Service was wonderful. As was the brownie they brought me for my birthday with candles. Top-notch service amazing food. We will definitely be back again. And I can't wait. We have always loved PS 23. We decided to walk over on the 4th of July. I've always loved the shrimp & grits, the flavor was good, but I didn't realize the grits would be a hard brick of polenta. There were exactly 5 shrimp on the plate, they were not large or jumbo, just 5 little shrimp. The flavor was good. I felt for 28.00 I could have had a few more shrimp. Honestly jumbo or colossal would have been a nicer presentation, with so few shrimp. My husband had the filet sliders, he was not pleased, our son's parkside burger was better. Our server was fantastic, polite, cordial, and attentive . The service is always good. It's close to home that's a plus, the quality of the food is not always in agreement with the price. Picked up a large catering order or a celebration of life. It was a busy night and they also were working a wedding so understandably had to wait about 20 minutes for my order. But when it came out, everything was hot and beautifully presented! Brittany, manager was fantastic with her communication and ensuring everything would go smoothly. Highly recommend Parkside 23 for all of your catering needs and dining experience. The short ribs were tender and melting in your mouth flavorful, the meatloaf for individual like big meat, meatballs, and the chicken was roasted perfectly. I used to love this restaurant, but it went downhill. Today, I had my usual; shrimp and grits. There was no one in the restaurant when I arrived. There were one or two people that arrived in the bar maybe about 15 minutes after I got there. my shrimp and grits came out very quickly and it was burnt. Burnt! Like, are you kidding me?! My server, Keeley, was an absolute ditz. My Diet Coke was flat no bubbles. And my dessert came out literally 20 minutes later. I had a warm brownie with ice cream on top that does not take almost a half hour to make, and it was not warm. It was super hot and it burned my tongue. They also didn't even ask me if I wanted to sit outside, which there was about four other people when I left outside. I used to call this place my favorite restaurant and that is no longer the case. read more

We went to Parkside 23 to celebrate my dads birthday. We were promptly seated (had a reservation) and service was good (except for a little wait for the check). We had calamari for an appetizer and three of us ordered the short rib while one of us got the fried Amish chicken breast. I would not recommend the calamari, the sauce was not tasty and I didn't love the texture. The creamed corn was a yummy side and everyone really enjoyed their entrees. We got a blueberry crumble for dessert which was also yummy and not too sweet. I would definitely return to try other options. read more

It has been a long time since we've been in to eat or drink. We often came here every other day when we lived in Brookfield. Being back was so wonderful, and I'm so glad that they're as perfect as we remember them. Always such a nice atmosphere to hang out in. TVs to watch, the noise level is comfortable, and the people are so friendly! We grabbed various things on the menu to try and all of them had such great flavors, paired with the drinks we enjoyed. We will definitely be back, and hopefully more often. Some of the menu items were exactly as we remembered, and it was great to try some items we hadn't ordered before. I had not been at Parkside 23 for awhile. My friend and I decided to go there for a late birthday celebration. We sat in the front room away from the main dining hall. The restaurant has nice quaint setting but it can get loud in there due to the acoustics. The portion of food was good value for the price. I went with the fish fry which came hot and the fish was meaty and fresh. The batter was not greasy. Service was quick and friendly. But after we received our food it was harder to find the wait staff to get water refill. Overall I recommend Parkside for a nice meal and comforting, quaint ambience. read more

Came for a celebratory dinner and I'm definitely planning to come back! The vibes are upscale but not pretentious, which is perfect cause I have a toddler who fit in perfectly. The service was quick and helpful. As an appetizer we got a shared wild mushroom risotto that was delicious. But the even better appetizer was the steak flatbread! My only thought is that should probably change. The food on the kids plate was clearly fresh and farm to table tasting. My daughter loved the flavorful chicken and vegetables. It comes with a drink and she got milk. The cap on the cup was a nice touch for a kid; but the cap was leaking still which was a little annoying. The shrimp and grits were phenomenal!! The grits were buttery with a crispy polenta cake and amazing corn alongside it. The shrimp pieces were huge and there were quite a few of them in there. Went here for our book club meeting, which was seven people - notable because they only take reservations for 8+ people in advance, otherwise you have to call the day of. We did that and had no issues getting a reservation on an early Saturday night for the group. Location itself is on a farm, and it's my understanding they grow many ingredients there. If you're from SE WI and familiar with the "Chancery" restaurants, this is in that family. To me, a bit higher end perhaps than I remember Chancery being. Entrees were divided by price on the menu, which I'd never seen before. The service was great - no issues substituting my vegetable choice, and they offered to split the check. It is a farm to table restaurant and everything is grown fresh on their farm or from local sources. The menu is spectacular: everything from soups and salads to fish, chicken, veal and even ethnic dishes like tacos, stir-fry, and jambalaya. It's also unique that the food items are separated by price point. I went for lunch on a Tuesday with four family members. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter was Joe and he was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. My aunt had mentioned that we needed to get the creamed corn as an appetizer because they were famous for it. We ordered two servings and they came out quickly. Boy were they delicious! I would never think of getting creamed corn as an appetizer, but it truly was out of this world with fresh corn and bits of bacon and peppers in a creamy sauce! We also had the arancini for an appetizer and it was good. For my meal I had a wedge salad and a cup of lentil soup. The salad was huge and super fresh! It also had cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, and bits of bacon with a thousand island style dressing, very yummy! The soup was a huge portion, more like a bowl, with huge chunks of ham and cilantro. It was just ok. My husband had the short rib tacos and he said the filling was really good, but the tortillas didn't hold together very well. My cousins had the jambalaya and stir fry with shrimp. They said they were really good as well. My aunt had the meatloaf, (she gets it all the time,) and she stated that it was really delicious because they make their meatloaf with steak. All the portions were huge, and we had to ask for several to-go boxes. In addition to the excellent food, the restaurant is really beautiful inside. We visited a few days before Thanksgiving and the entire dining room was decorated with Christmas trees.
