The owner always comes across as compassionate. The facility is warm and inviting - very nicely appointed. I've used them on multiple occasions and have been very happy with their service. I chose private cremation for my cat. Dropped his remains off in the morning and was able to pick up his ashes later that afternoon. (Note: Prices for cremation are much lower coming directly here than going thru your veterinarian. You eliminate the transportation and up-charge. And I honestly prefer to keep my pets remains with me and not hand them off to an intermediary.) Also, they have a nice selection of urns and pendants (to place a bit of your pets ashes) IF you are interested in that. But you never feel pressured to purchase any of that.

Instead they sent us home with meds. We ended up needing emergency surgery the next day for him. So what should have been $3,000 turned into $6,000. Then they gave him too high of a dosage, he had extremely slow breathing and couldn't lift his head. They brushed it off saying "he's just a sleepy kitty". We had to come in a different time for our dog, only because Blue Pearl was at capacity. Our dog was vomiting and had bloody diarrhea. She also wasn't moving her back legs. Our dog pooped in the lobby and the tech just rolled his eyes and said it's fine. I'm sorry, but if you don't have compassion then change careers. I gave a pat on our dogs head for leaving them a present though! They said it was a 4 hour wait but no one even looked at our dog to see how bad it was. Most places will start triage and fluids right away. How can you determine what is an emergency otherwise? After 20 minutes we got up and left. Seems like they're only good for putting animals down.

I heart Milwaukee Pug Fest, a festival to raise money for pug rescue…read more I've wanted to attend for the past couple years, but it lands on my birthday weekend, so usually I'm too.... um... too sick to go. However, this year I got up at the break of dawn to drive to Franklin to attend! $8 entrance fee for adults, $3 parking. At least it's going to a good cause. I grew up with a puggie so they hold a special place in my heart. There were vendors from special organic treats, to specialized id tags, to cremation services for pets (morbid, yes). There were also plenty of pug rescues tabling from around the country. Events included a pug/owner lookalike competition, smallest and largest pug competition, adoptable pug parade, and more. It was so much fun. So next year bring your pug, or your other friendly dogs to attend this event. Even though I am not currently a pug owner, I got plenty of pug-petting and pug-holding in.
