It was very nice that Zoey is distracted while her shots are being administered because it is so sad to bring in an animal to the vet and have them shaking or shirking because they are scared. It is very nice that Zoey's shots will be staggered so we can tell if she reacts to any of them and that titer tests will be done so we know if she has immunity. We felt very comfortable with the staff and Dr. Aubrey - and the plan going forward for Zoey for the next year.

First, I find it very misleading to advertise yourselves as a 24-hour emergency facility when your hours are only 9 AM-9 PM. When you have a pet emergency outside of those hours, you are not actually available. Unfortunately, my experiences with the doctors have also been extremely disappointing. I have repeatedly questioned the level of knowledge, judgment, and capabilities when it comes to determining what can and should be done for my pets. During my most recent visit, I was given no recommendations and was essentially told that everything would be fine. The following morning, my pet ended up being hospitalized at my regular veterinarian for three days. That experience has made me seriously question the assessment and reassurance I was given at your facility. The front desk experience has also been unprofessional. The atmosphere often feels more like a kiddy rave than a professional medical facility, which is completely inappropriate when people are walking in worried, scared, and dealing with an emergency involving a beloved pet. I'm only writing this because I have now had enough experiences to step back and look at the bigger picture. It is a shame because you are the only emergency veterinary facility in town, but being the only option does not excuse poor communication, unprofessionalism, or inadequate care. Going forward, I will be traveling a longer distance to an emergency veterinarian where I feel that my pets' needs--and the concerns of the people who love them--are truly being prioritized. I genuinely hope this facility takes this feedback seriously. People come to an emergency vet because they are trusting you with a member of their family. I want to start off by saying I adopted this cat from the Wisconsin Humane Society knowing she may have persisting health issues, but I was (and am) prepared to take on that responsibility. As requested, I brought a stool sample from my kitty. This sample sat with me throughout the entire appointment, and when the appointment was finished, I asked the vet tech about her sample since no one asked for it. I was told, "oh we already have her sample". Obviously that was not the case as I had the bag of feces in my hand, so I asked another tech who came to realize they put another cat's fecal sample under my cat's name. I was willing to overlook this mistake had I had a pleasant experience with Dr. Poehlmann, but I did not. At first she was professional, but then I brought up my cat's health issues and she said, "this is not what I had in mind for a free WHS wellness exam". What an odd comment to make because obviously you can't expect every animal who comes to you to be in perfect health. Throughout the appointment, she continued to make inappropriate comments and grimacing faces when discussing my cat's health. Then, when going over potential treatment options going forward, including an "expensive surgery", she said, "I mean, if you aren't too attached, you can always return her". This comment absolutely baffled me because why would returning her be anything but a last resort? I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt with this comment since I am young and probably appear to not have the financial capability of caring for her appropriately. However, I have a doctorate's degree (in healthcare), and make more than enough to provide and care for my kitty. So no, I don't think this is an appropriate comment to make to a pet owner. Overall, this rushed, unproductive appointment showed me that this vet clearly lacks the compassion to love and care for my cat going forward.

We did some research and asked a lot of questions from our pet owner/friends and were referred to Park Pet Hospital by several folks. That, coupled with the great reviews we read on line, made our decision to obtain an appointment for our (needy) cat, Jinx. From the first appointment on (after which we've had several due to our cat having a few on-going issues), we feel so very lucky to have found Park Pet Hospital. The folks there are all wonderful, caring folks. We've received services from both Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Poehlmann. They both instilled confidence in us and have been terrific to deal with. Both doctors absolutely are patient, informative, thorough and had "the touch;" putting Jinx at ease. The staff at the clinic are also VERY professional, friendly and handle everyone with kid gloves. Park Pet Hospital is an old school veterinary practice. The facility looks as if its been around for forty years or so, but it is extremely clean and immaculate. Cats have their own door to enter the facility, as do dogs. There is plenty of on site parking as well as available street parking which you probably will never need.
