If you want your pet to be euthanized by a provider who is curt, rude, and downright un-empathetic, I invite you to patronize this business. I contacted Last Kiss for a last-minute euthanasia appointment for my cat. They do get points for responding quickly, and I was told they had an appointment at 2pm. However the morning of rolls around, and I see that I missed a call from Last Kiss. I call back immediately, and am told that they will call me "later". 1:45pm arrives, and I text them to ask if 2pm is still a good time. I receive radio silence. I am now frantic, thinking that they are a no-call no-show. At 4:30pm, I receive a call asking for payment. I ask what happened with our appointment? They respond that the appointment was for 4-5pm. Even if I got the time wrong, the lack of communication, appointment confirmation, and general customer service at this point was atrocious. I politely stated to the vet that in the meantime, I booked an appointment with another provider. I kid you not, I had not even finished saying the word "provider" when the Dr hung up on me. She HUNG UP ON ME. No "sorry for the misunderstanding", no "have a good day", no "sorry for your loss". Nope, just hung up the phone. Callous and disorganized practice. I am so glad my fur baby will not be cared for by this unkind and unprofessional person. read more

They were compassionate and offered us grief support and totally understood our feelings. Dr. Sarah came today to help us with the day I've been dreading forever. Our call to Dr Sarah was at 7:20 pm, she asked us to text her our address and she would get back to us after she mapped out the distance between locations and how long it would take her to get to us. I did as she requested immediately. An hour later I had not gotten a call or text from her, I called her, she answered and said they would be leaving "now" and arrive at our house in 25-30 minutes. Our dog passed on her own in the time it took her to get to our house. To say that we were, are, devastated is putting it mildly. Thinking that she suffered at all is breaking my heart. She came in and listened to our girl to confirm that she was gone. She proceeded to throw a blanket over our dog's head, even though she was pretty much covered up by us. There was no compassion - nothing! It was almost like she was put out because our dog passed on her own. After it took her almost 2 hours to get to us. Yes, it was a last minute, emergency request, but our dog took a very sharp, horrible turn for the worse in hours. If she didn't want to come she should have said so and we would have made other calls and arrangements. We went to the other room to fill out the paperwork and was asked what package do you want - we picked what we wanted and then she proceeded tell us we had to pay by Zelle, Venmo or check, she didn't want to take our credit card. We made the payment and she told us that we would have our dog back to us in 5 days due to her passing on a Wednesday evening and the upcoming weekend. She and her husband, along with me because I didn't think they would be gentle with her, placed her on their carrier to take her out to their vehicle. My husband followed them out because he didn't trust them not to throw her into the back of their small pick up truck. He was appalled at the condition of their small truck, but we were so stunned we let them take her. Here comes Monday, when we were told we could pick up her remains and paw print. We expected a call but none was forthcoming so I called late morning, left a voice mail and texted her. No response at all. Called again Monday afternoon, nothing. I called Tuesday morning, again no answer, just a voice mail, left one, texted again and no response. To say I was pretty upset is a big understatement. I ended up calling a suburban pet crematory to see if they had our dog, if so we would pick her up directly from there. They did not, but they were so sweet and helpful, they looked into the industry system and said they knew where she was and all the details of her cremation. They were able to provide me the address and phone number of where she was. The way they went above and beyond was in such a contrast to the place that we paid to help us is unbelievable. I called the number they provided, which is Dr. Sarah's vet office, and got hung up on. I let my husband know the location and he went and picked her up. When he got there he said there were 3 people sitting around, he asked why they never called us as promised and they said that they were busy, gave him our dog and pretty much ignored him. We will never recommend Last Kiss to anyone we know and have already let our primary vet know the experience we had so hopefully they will take them off their approved list. We have 4 dogs, all getting up there in age, we firmly believe in home euthanasia but will never call Last Kiss again. read more

We recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our nine year old chihuahua Biggie down. We always knew we would have it done at home as he hated the vet, and after a turn of events realized the sooner the better. I called another company first but they were fully booked for the entire weekend. Then I called Dr Sarah and the initial conversation with her was really awkward and left me feeling not so sure about using her services but the main upside was she was available to come that night and we didn't want Biggie to suffer any longer. Like other reviews mentioned, she was 15 minutes late. She came into our apartment and then said she had forgotten her bag with the drugs so she had sent her husband to go get it. We then had to sit and make awkward small talk with her for 30 minutes while we waited. It was nice to have extra time with Biggie before saying goodbye but I would have preferred it be without her there. When the time finally came, it was very quick and painless for Biggie and that is the main plus side in all of this. After giving him the final injection she left for a few minutes while we said our goodbyes. When she came back, I was trying to trim some of his fur to keep and she had mentioned that before the cremation, she could shave some more and save it for me. She also mentioned the paw print. Almost a week later, I get a call informing me that "Baggie's" ashes were ready to be picked up. I call back to confirm that it was his ashes and not another dogs and correct them on the name. I went in to pick up on the ashes and Dr Sarah was there, telling another woman that I was there for "Baggie." Once I open the paw print, I see right at the top.. "Baggie" imprinted in the clay and on the certificate. I immediately remind them again that that's not his name and they made a mistake. She offered a very insincere apology and said they could try to fix it but I'm not sure exactly how? They'd already cremated him at that point so it's not like it could be redone and the clay was dry. Also, there was no sign of fur like she had mentioned trimming for me which was really upsetting. The entire experience of putting down your dog is stressful enough and with all this added on top I am left feeling annoyed and really disappointed. It's not a cheap service at $550 and their lack of attention to detail for something that is supposed to preserve my best friends life was really upsetting. terrible experience. i made my appointment more than 24 hours in advance. which was asap after receiving results from the vet. at the time of the appointment, i received a call that the doctor would now start on the way. 15 minutes later, i received another call that the doctor wanted to wait until the next day. all while my pet in severely declined condition was probably in great pain. more than double the price of everywhere else. i have since confirmed that the price range i expected is still the norm. their website design makes it very difficult to see what the price is on a phone screen. but, having been through this several times, i did not expect this company to be so far afield of what everyone else is doing. and if you want to pay a normal way like check or credit card, they add an extra fee (and call it a "discount" for paying with zelle but its more like "not extra above the quoted price"). this was a really fantastic discussion to have, again, while my pet was in a drastic state and could barely move at all. if not for the immediate need, i would have cursed the doctor and thrown her out of my home. finally, the clay paw print they provided is not even kiln-fired and there was no paperwork given to indicate the state - both unusual in my experience. this company is terrible service at a very high price. im giving more than one star solely because the actual euthanization went smoothly. other than that, everything was awful. i highly recommend staying far, far away from last kiss at home aka paws and feathers inc. read more

I had to put my dearest dog coco to sleep because of her kidneys failing. Coco was an 11y/o Pomeranian/chihuahua mix. The thought of putting your pet down is one of the hardest decision you could ever make. You don't want to be selfish prolonging their life but then you have questions on where or how can you put your dog down in the privacy of your own home without taking them at an office. I couldn't bare to see coco suffer anymore so I needed to put her at rest ASAP. Coco lost the ability to walk due to her disease within 1 day of taking her off her medications. She notified me that she had a home to go to but she squeezed me in her schedule. Even though dr. Sarah squeezed me in her schedule she called and informed me she was running a little behind but no issue because she was going out of her way to accommodate coco. Thank you Yelpers so leading me to this service. When my pup told me it was time for her to leave her body and get to doggy heaven I didn't want to take her to a cold metal table at the vet. Dr. Sarah Hadzic was amazing through the whole thing. She was so kind on the phone. I called the day before when I was undecided to just enquire - I was sobbing - she was so patient and said they will come to my suburb no problem and they are available at all hours. Next day I called her at 10am and she was at our house by 3pm. I knew she was having a busy day too. She and her husband (I didn't see him until later) pulled to my driveway in a white van. There were small marking on the driver side door. She came inside and we filled out a form and I gave a check. ($375 if you don't want ashes back) She was so professional, efficient. She was in a vet smock and had a small bag (like toiletry bag size) with the material. We wanted to do the service in our backyard and play a prayer chant on my laptop. She was so amazingly patient and stayed in the background until we were ready. She has us lay our pup on an old towel. She gave a sedation shot and you wait about 5+ minutes. Then she took a paw and shaved a little hair off so that she could see the vein. She said that is also a way to test that the sedative was working. I noted that her senses in legs were dulled - and just hearing my concern she then tested a few other parts of body with vibration to make sure. Then she gave the second shot warning that sometimes the body will tremor and its normal. She went to get her hubby (Tom I think) and gave us a few minutes to say final goodbyes. After confirming for us that we were ready they laid down a nice blue little body bag that had a paw on it and wrapped her in the towel and zipped her up and went to the van. She was so genuine in expressing her sorrow for our loss. It is such a relief to know our pup passed at home and at the hands of caring and skilled professionals.
