Came here for Sunday breakfast and coffee on a HOT summer morning. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating but indoor was absolutely necessary. The host said the wait was about 10-15 minutes but we probably waited more like 20. Still not bad though. Inside there's a counter where you can get coffee or pastries to go. That's also where you pay when you're done with your meal. We had a cold brew and a regular coffee. Because to truly judge a coffee place, you've gotta try their standard cup. It did not disappoint. Their house blend was delicious. The cold brew was different. But not bad. Let's call it a 7/10. We ordered and split the blueberry pancakes and cheese omelette. Added ham peppers and onions to the omelette and it also came with a side of rosemary potatoes and bread. We opted for the French baguette. We were starving and completely forgot to take pictures of our meal but it was delicious! Definitely coming back to try some other menu options. read more

The name "Bluestone coffee Co" is very much deceiving... the coffee is absolutely horrible. I've tasted better coffee when filling up my car at a gas station Mini-mart. The inside deceives you too with the coffee machines and bags everywhere, making you think that the coffee is legit. Nobody will ever recommend Blue Stone based on the coffee; it's all about the breakfast and brunch options that are available. I cannot lie; the food is excellent, with many options to choose from. It beats a diner in the Montclair area 9 out of 10 times. The 1 time being it overly crowded that it really is not worth the hour wait for the breakfast burrito you have been craving all morning. Another plus is the wonderful options for smoothies. Made with fresh fruit, they are so delish that you won't even notice the cost burning a hole in your pocket. The mix with the breakfast and the smoothie can really set you off to a great morning... If you take the food to go. The waitresses seem to take their personal problems to work with them, making the dining experience unpleasant, leaving a sour taste in your mouth even if you didn't order the coffee! After eating at this establishment with my family for years, I have found a trend in being hostile towards male customers. All in all, try the food... at home. read more

Bluestone is my favorite breakfast spot in town thus far because the food taste good and the coffee is awesome. The coffee is smooth with a nice caffeinated kick and they offer flavor shots. The staff is cordial but not the friendliest. This is a no frills place without a "scene" but still decent place to grab breakfast or brunch. read more

This place was such a disappointment. The Salmon Benny arrived cold and English muffin was not toasted. I actually left nearly my entire meal. To top it off, the meal was flavorless. Only ate the smoked salmon-- since that was decent. My husband ordered the French toast -- another flavorless meal. Save your $$ and go elsewhere. read more

I've been coming here for years, and it's always delicious. This place is underrated - it's so reliable and consistent. Food comes out quickly, is fresh, and made with quality ingredients. It's not a fancy menu and doesn't have the upscale feel of some of the other Montclair brunch/lunch options, but those other options often mask poor service and bad chefs by putting the word "artisanal" in front of everything, or slapping some pork belly on the side. But to my good fortune Bluestone Coffee makes a FRESH and DELICIOUS sandwich on perfect french bread at 8am. It was simple, but perfect - turkey, tomato, lettuce and a touch of honey mustard and mayo. The bread definitely made the meal because it was fresh and delicious. Also the side salad was delish - really good vinaigrette. The price is right too! The coffee is good and so is the OJ. Bluestone has been in my bookmarked list for a while now, so I was looking forward to finally being able to go. The ambience is super cozy and welcoming. I had the french toast with fresh fruits which was delicious. My husband had the breakfast pasta with sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, and eggs. This dish was definitely interested but very tasty. We ended with the pumpkin bread and cappuccinos. Both were fantastic and I highly recommend. Overall I look forward to our next brunch here. read more

I have ripped on Yelp many North Jersey cafes, bakeries, delis, etc about casual Covid behaviors: no masks among workers, no enforcement on masks for customers, no distancing. After a rocky start, Bluestone is now one of the few exceptions and should be an example to their peers and competitors of how to run a food/beverage biz during a pandemic. Early in the Covid pandemic, before we knew how deadly and widespread it would be, an employee sneezed twice into his hands and didn't wash them before preparing an order; and a dopey cashier giggled and said "He doesn't have THAT" when I objected. For quite some time now, their excellence in coffee and food has been matched by the care they are taking to run a tight ship. So good on them. read more

One of my absolute favorite breakfast spots. I would go there a hell of a lot more if they weren't so damn busy. The place is fairly small and seating can be tight. Probably not the best choice for the elderly or people with children who require high chairs. If you don't mind the wait or go during the week, I could not recommend this gem more highly. Parking can also be a challenge but that can be said about most of Montclair. Food is outstanding. Service is attentive and friendly. Great vibe & great people. Interesting rustic decor. Epic bread and potatoes, for those of us who aren't really doing the whole low carb thing. Decided to give this place a go after trying various other breakfast spots in the Montclair area. there is outdoor seating as well as a fair amount of seating inside, friendly wait staff and just an overall decent looking resturant. I had the challah french toast with strawberries (I asked them to hold the bananas) it was very good, and a good example of how french toast should be prepared (Raymonds take note). The syrup is a bit weak but overall pretty good. I had cafe latte and a bit of the chai latte and the chai definitely is better. I also had some of the goat cheese omelette which was way better than I thought. The potatoes on the side were yummy and sizable as well. There is a decent selection of brunches on the menu that all sound good so a return trip definitely looks in order. read more

Bluestone Coffee is a breakfast and coffee shop in Montclair. I stopped in to try some of the food after getting coffee a few times. I ordered the zucchini fritta. It was lite and had thin slices of zucchini covered with parmesan. My girlfriend ordered the Mexican Omelette which had avocado and salsa. I would estimate that both dishes had about 4 eggs. The prices seemed a bit high. For example, the orange juice was $3 per glass. Overall, Bluestone is nice for brunch and to support local coffee shops. read more

Super impressed with Blue Stone Coffee Co. Again, I've been catching up on my food genres so as a result of reading the reviews here on Yelp!, I had to come visit for myself. I tried the chicken quesadilla first; yes I said first. I'm super particular about chicken and my meal automatically becomes ruined if they haven't taken out out all veins or cut off all fat, but I tried it anyway. So glad I went with my gut. As I've stated in the past I hardly ever eat meat (especially chicken) so if I say the chicken is good TRUST ME and go running. The outcome? THEY NAILED IT. I subbed the Monterey Jack cheese for their Danish Havarti cheese (because I am obsessed with Havarti, duh why else), and even though the waiter said the green chili's made it spicy (I love spicy - it was not; whatsoever) it in NO WAY disappointed or lacked flavor. Even them not having guacamole was no issue. I could've eaten this completely alone and been satisfied but I did have a little sour cream and salsa on more than a few bites Very good, not too cheesy which usually I like in a quesadilla but no, no need. It also is helping me stay on track on this food tour I'm apparently taking. Very well seasoned, presented, and done. I also had the French toast (you will not judge me) which was made of Challah bread, and I chose the fruit topping option (FRESH strawberries and bananas), and it came sprinkled lightly with powdered sugar. I ate everything except for a little of the tortilla with the quesadilla so I wouldn't feel guilty about the French toast and all its glorious carbs. Ha! I'm not a big syrup person but even for those who are, I suggest you try it without it first. Don't pervert it without giving it a true chance just so you can see how delicious it is, how light and soft the bread is, and how very satisfying the taste. Presentation, was awesome on both dishes from color to plating. GREAT COFFEE. I SAID, GREAT COFFEE. They offer sugar in the raw, winning! I sat outside as I usually tend to do when it's available/time permits. And I'm full belly, smiling as I write this review. Parking on a Sunday morning wasn't too bad and the place was already bursting at the seams by the time we arrived around 9 am, although as a party of 2 we were promptly seated. The food was fresh and cooked simply and unpretentiously with great flavor. I had a caffe au lait which was very good and made properly in the French style. Only reason why I gave 4 and not 5-stars was because of the understaffing. Almost had to wave my hand in the air like I just don't care to flag down my poor, overworked waiter to get his attention. Went back today for the first time in a long time and remembered why I don't go here anymore. Very good. The source challah for my French Toast is just ok which limits how great this dish could be but it was a good dish nonetheless. It's very loud so if you want a quiet meal pass or get one of the handful of tables on the sidewalk. Prompt service, free Wifi, clean - getting the basics right. Have tried this place a few times now. Consistently homey and decent. Never great and haven't had any must-have dishes but come back because, well, it's good. They recently doubled in size by expanding into the store next door. Nicely done expansion. Tip: stay away from smoothies if you don't like ice. Had the strawberry banana smoothie and it was like an ice slush; got freezer head drinking it. this place used to be so much better. I would tell people that the coffee, the breakfast burrito and the rosemary potatoes were the best of their kind anywhere. now it's just ok. And it's been just ok for a long time now. The lines and waits for tables don't make sense to me anymore. If you are ok waiting for a table, I'd go to Raymond's instead. well I went back again after this last review from October. I have to say the downward spiral continues. Even the coffee is bad and they roast it themselves. I think they are following this deplorable trend of "bright" roasted coffee, the kind that just tastes sour. This was my first time at Bluestone Coffee Co. I plan to come back again. The atmosphere is inviting and I was greeted with a smile by the young hostess. It is a place where you can have a quiet conversation over breakfast. I was shown a table and provided a menu that had many options from which to choose; there was also an insert prompting the customer to look at the blackboard for the special of the day. I selected a Bluestone Omelette (tomato, mozzarella and basil). I also ordered a blueberry scone. G, the wait person, said the sconces were made on the premises and freshly made.
