    Leashes. So hard.

At least now that people who refuse to put their dogs on a leash and obliviously ignore signage now have a sign just for them. Enjoy your morning walks!

*** Run or walk this hidden residential park. *** I love Playa del Rey because it is a natural oasis within this overcrowded metropolis of Los Angeles. If I run south, I access the 3mi pkwy that lines LAX: http://www.yelp.com/biz/westchester-parkway-los-angeles#hrid:N2UpxJtbOhLxPk0QUkm9nA If I run north, I access lagoon and strand to marina: http://www.yelp.com/biz/del-rey-lagoon-playa-del-rey#hrid:g5iJ-_UL9kx6uZz_KfcRzw If I run west, a dirt trail over 1/2mi hill to the beach: http://www.yelp.com/biz/playa-del-rey-beach-playa-del-rey#hrid:u6PsXYIrZkuYoG6w6YmmcQ And if I run east, well Bluff Trail Park starts a trail along the scenic bluffs that separate the wetlands from this recently developed residential community, One Westbluff. This is a view park: a few benches, water fountain and path. You can see from wetlands to the snow capped San Bernadino Mountains here. The path is paved, about 5ft wide and 1/2mi long. Once you cross Lincoln Blvd (@LMU), then access the Westchester Fire Trial which forks into two trails (1 dirt, 1paved). Both of these stretch about another 2mi thru a lot of natural foliage under the LMU bluffs. *** These bluffs are scenic. I dig Playa del Rey. ***

It truly is an oasis in West LA. Bluff Trail Park is a calm place to walk your dog or yourself. For me, its close enough to walk from home and far away enough to get some peace and quiet and take in a refreshingly cool sea breeze. Facts: Dogs are ok and must be on a leash. And for the love of Gosh please pick up after your dog. This has become a real nuisance lately along the path and its completely avoidable because there are poop bags dispensers at 4 different spots! So please....if you bring your 4 legged friend, dont be a dick...be cool instead and clean it up. Thanks. Don't have a dog to walk? No problem. Lately there have been coyotes spotted around the area...you could get lucky and make a new friend! Just sayn... The path is paved and well maintained and there are 2 drinking fountains at each end, so yes I also recommend this spot for a jog/run/walk/trot or skip. Finally, just look at that view. I really enjoy the sunset here between spring and late summer. Hope you get a chance to explore this side of LA. All are welcomed. Peace.

Simple pleasures and moments of calming peace are rare in this sprawling metropolis we call home ... so, living near Bluff Trail Park offers Playa Del Rey and LMU a stimulating swift morning or sunset stroll along a fully-paved path with stunning views. * Open 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. * An entrance at each end makes it easy to find street parking * Coastal View Drive probably offers the best parking * The pathway is entirely on concrete with a fence to keep wanderers on the trail * Dogs are ok if on a leash and there are poop bags available at a couple spots * It's a trail for walking, but there are a few benches along the way * No alcohol or BBQs. A water fountain at one of the entrances is a nice touch * Strollers are ok (and common) Bluff Trail Park at One Westbluff is a secret stimulating short stroll. The pathway is a haven for moms and locals to get a little sun and fresh air along this quiet overlook above the wetlands, city, and Pacific.

I love walking my dog here. Plus there are 2 dog parks in playa vista not far from this trail, within "hiking" distance. My only wish is that there was a connection from the main trail leading to one of the dog parks, but keeping them separate probably keeps a lot of extra traffic off the trail. Really beautiful views from here on a clear day.

Such a beautiful walk! There's plenty of beautiful poppy flowers along the way, and it's a very easy walk for a relaxing stroll!

Five stars for the doggy bags and great clean path not to mention the memorizing view that makes a sunset jog just perfection!

Though I have to admit I live four blocks away so I'm an unreserved, totally bias supporter. Even with my personal bias for Westchester Park, the facility offers more fun stuff than most of LA's city parks including but not limited to: Golf, Tennis, Public Pool, Library, Softball and Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Picnic Area, Senior Center, After School Programs, Wednesday Farmers Market, and a great little Skate Park. And that's just scratching the surface of what makes the this park wonderful. It is close to LAX so I guess that is why it is somewhat underappreciated, but like the Westchester neighborhood in general, the park is swiftly changing. Westchester is no longer an out of the way sleepy LA suburb. It has transformed into one of the hottest area's in the city, and for better or worse that's what's up here. Some come and enjoy it while you can, just keep it chill, since I have to work tomorrow.

The entire park, including the library building, covers only one square block, but what a lovely space it is. So, in this town square with old shade trees and a band stand are benches with dedication/memorial plaques. This is just a simple nice/clean park. The concert series was really fun.

Mayberry, as it's across the street from the high school. And the HS itself is a magnificent old brick building. This is a town full of treasures. So. When was the last time you saw a park with a band stand? How very cool. It's Library Park's crowning glory, as there are no sports facilities.......just beautiful areas designed to be eye candy. Like the rose garden. The entire park, including the library building, covers only one square block, but what a lovely space it is. The sports fields, basketball courts, and playground are behind the school just west of Library Park (see photo), allowing the central park to remain pristine. So, in this town square with old shade trees and a band stand are benches with dedication/memorial plaques. As I review more and more parks, I find myself pausing to read the words. And I have discovered that beautiful sentiments are found in parks. Such as the one on the bench in Library Park that reads "Meet me in the garden, Gardener Bob". Who knew that reviewing parks would become a spiritual journey? I thought I was just out seeking exercise. I found much, much more. And I have only just begun.

Playground area w/slide & swings and a nice community pool on the other side on Maryland. If I had small kids, I'd would've brought them here, simply for the area it's in, nice, safe family community, parks serenity, shaded areas w/a cool breeze and I always see the Police patrolling by. But there's Recreation park for more activities for the wee ones, of course you've also got ES beach and nearby Polliwog Park (Ok not nearby, but worth the drive) to venture off to with the family. But I must say this town offers a lot of activities for the kiddies, I don't know all of them because my kids are grown up now :(. Anyhow, you can see Rancho Palos Verdes from one side and if you walk around other side of water tower, you can see LAX planes (that's pretty much the whole city) & West LA from there.
