From the beginning, the staff has been nothing but kind, friendly, and helpful. There were times that they went out of their way for me to feel helped. I just concluded and initial call with this company. I was sorely disappointed with the customer service I received. I called because of a posting on Zillow that had this property management company as the listing agency. When I got through to someone they were polite to begin with and when I mentioned the property's address they said "it's already rented." I relayed that Zillow reflected it was still available in an attempt to help them. Their response was "Zillow is not reliable" and that I should use their website, which I was already on. I informed them that their own website reflected that this property was still available for rent. At this point I was abruptly interrupted and told that they had another important call and wanted to put me hold. Disparaging another website for being unreliable while your own website reflects the same information is ridiculous to say the least. I would recommend this company get their act together. read more

I never spoke with owner. I only spoke with the office clerk Mary. I had inquired about a home they had advertised that I had gone to view. I wanted to know how the home got its water since it had some tanks and was in rural area. Nobody could tell me at the office anything about the water. They told me to call the water company myself. Isn't that their job? I proceeded to do so and finally got an answer about the water. By the time I found out about the water and gone to apply someone else had applied. They said they would contact my family if the other applicants didn't work out. That was a week ago and I still haven't heard anything. I will not be recommending this company to my clients or anyone else . I lost several homes waiting to hear from them. I have dealt with many property management companies and this one was the worst. read more

Not recommended, at all. If you make the mistake of renting from this business NEVER let their repairmen in your home without verifying their licensing. Gorman Real Estate regularly sent individuals to do repairs who were unlicensed to perform the scope of work. The results were disastrous and my wife and I ended up paying for their costly incompetence. There was no recourse, aside from legal action, as the Gorman Real Estate office aggressively denied their liability and subsequently served an eviction notice. Fortunately, California Civil Code defines that as "retaliatory eviction" and levies a fine. Thanks for the dough! Know your rights! Gorman Real Estate conducts their business hoping that you don't. Or better yet, avoid this company at all costs. read more

We rented a house near Lovers' Point Park in PG from them. The house was fantastic--so the rent was totally worth it. They were mostly very prompt with repair requests. When we called their office, someone was already there to pick up the phone. Also, the knowledge of the property managers about the house and maintenance issues was very impressive. After we left, they took off only 70$ from our security deposit because we didn't shampoo a carpet. Overall, I would highly recommend renting from them. read more

This place seems legit at first. His staff is very nice but they are totally powerless and are at the mercy of Mr. Gorman. I needed a place very quickly since I was starting a new job in a new place and was shelling out a ton of cash staying at a hotel for 2 weeks. The ladies at the front desk were good, they answered all my questions, followed up with me, but the time to actually get your application evaluated by Steve was unacceptable. I was very quick with my application and have great credit, yet, it took over 2 weeks to hear back from Gorman Real Estate (at that point I had given up). You do not get his real phone number when you call this place - only the front desk. He won't speak to you unless HE wants to. I also felt as if the layout of his office puts himself at a distance to his clients. His desk is tucked away behind the front desk in an area where you really wouldn't stroll as a client. I even saw Steve pop out of his office looked right at me and declined to even say hello. Throughout my whole dealing with Gorman Real Estate, I did not get to speak to Steve once. Gayle and Merrie, whom I worked with most, are very helpful, and aware of all the units they rent. They made it very easy to go look at the options, and even though the first unit I looked at didn't suit my needs, they suggested another location that was perfect. From move in (early 2017) to move out (mid 2018), Merrie and Gayle are always pleasant and available for questions, and accommodating to my needs. I was worried when my rented condo needed minor repairs caused by my movers, but Gorman RE charged extremely fair repair costs and never did I feel cheated. More importantly, even though renting in the Monterey area is expensive and the deposit costed, they returned my deposit in full immediately after the post-move out inspection. read more

This property management company is now blacklisted if you are military personnel or a military family. I highly recommend against this company and their properties if you are a civilian. Read below if you were considering purchasing the property at 4 Forest Knoll Rd. You have been warned. My wife and I are both military officers with 26 years of service between us. We have been tenants for 2 years at one of their properties. It is a house located at 4 Forest Knoll Rd in Monterey, CA. The homeowners/managers are Alfred Munoz, Jackie Munoz/Blakemore, and Phyllis Blakemore. We have been the first renters of the property since the owner moved into a nursing home. These individuals do not understand the tenant/landlord relationship. They see the house as a family museum and expect tenants to treat it like one. The house was a mess when we moved in. Rats galore (around 12 at my highest count) were clawing at vents, tearing through a wall, and skittering under the house. Alfred refused to call an exterminator to deal with the issues. I finally called Orkin to deal with the rats and do structure mitigation our second month in the house. Termites are a constant issue here. These are a subterranean variety that are prevalent in this neighborhood. They pour out of the ceiling and electrical sockets (roughly 600 - 1000 are normal). If you were thinking about buying this house, I would recommend against it. I believe the termites have successfully damaged support beams and the ceiling due to the amount of creaking and shifting of this built in 1966 house. Alfred's refusal to quickly handle outbreaks and failure to schedule preventative termite treatments have likely led to a compromised structure. Also, Alfred blamed us for the termites being in the house for some reason. Both Planet Orange and Orkin have confirmed termites on the property. My wife and I could not fully unpack at this assignment due to working 18 hour days on a regular basis. Alfred and Jackie will try to tell you that having your household goods in cardboard moving boxes is absolutely unacceptable to them. Both Alfred and Jackie Munoz will take advantage of opportunities to snoop through your things, then lie about it when confronted. If you lock yourself out of the house, don't call Alfred. My wife locked herself out of the house on accident when I was gone for the month on TDY. Some very nice neighbors let my wife into their own home, cooked her dinner, and called Alfred for her. Alfred took this opportunity to inspect the house before going to the neighbors' house to get my wife. He confirmed with my wife that I was out of the state, then he berated her in a raised voice (not quite at a screaming level) about boxes of packed household goods that we were slowly unpacking in a spare bathroom. He then went on to describe the master bathroom and our things on the countertop in perfect detail. He told my wife "you're an officer, you should be unpacked by now. It's like you're trying to hide something." He then threatened my wife and her career, saying "if there's any damage, I will go to your commander." My wife is a tiny woman. Alfred is about 5'8"-5'11". Alfred is a coward, manipulative, and likes to berate women. Alfred will not berate men or anyone who is not a pushover. I confronted Alfred about everything that occurred during that interaction and he denied any wrongdoing. He even defended his actions in berating my wife. He refused to apologize to my wife for his treatment of her. Just about every electrical socket in the house needs to be replaced due to wear. Chargers and cables fall out of many sockets. This is a fire hazard. Several sockets have scorch marks from electrical arcing. There is exposed wiring in several parts of the house that create more fire hazards. The smoke detectors in the house are not functional. Alfred berated me for 30 minutes during our inspection for turnover at the end of our term, then had the audacity to ask for my help finding another military family for him to rent to. He also sought my sympathy with his 90 year old mother-in-law's health conditions, immediately after almost screaming at me for 10 minutes because he wanted me to unpack boxes while I was in a sling following major shoulder surgery. Alfred's memory is faulty and he has fabricated several events during his interactions with me. When my wife and I interacted with Bratty and Bluhm Property Management to turn in our house key, they were dismissive of us and just stated flatly that their only function is to find tenants for homeowners to rent to. In other words, they don't actually manage properties as a property management company. If you were thinking about renting it buying one of Alfred Munoz, Jackie Munoz/Blakemore, or Phyllis Blakemore's properties, don't. Run far away. read more
