Mainly because she kept coughing into her hands then immediately went and started touching all over my face. All throughout my appointment. As soon as I walked in and was sat down she began talking about all the horrific things that have happened in her life. And while I feel for her, it was *all* she wanted to talk about even when I tried to change topics to a lighter note. At one point she decided to stop what she was doing in the middle of everything and decided I really needed to meet her grandson, a freshman in high school. The two kept talking over each other and it was just PAINFULLY awkward to be there. The end was the kicker. Over the phone she quoted me $165 for both hair and make up. When I was all finished and desperately trying to run out of there, she told me it was $225. When I stopped her and questioned the price, she said that oh she must have given me a deal, and that the price does NOT include gratuity. That was said a handful of times to drive it home I suppose. I got into my truck, ready to leave and wait the hours until the party (sure convinced me we would need the entire time, which we very much did not), and she summons me back inside because she forgot to take pictures. Finally I get to leave with her calling after me to leave a review and all this and that. Well, here it is.

I just went in for a wash and blowout. Well, I actually wanted a toner as well, but after saying…read moreshe could do it over the phone, she didn't carry toner. All her colors have it already. I have no idea what that means as I always get bleached then washed, then a toner. ‍ Jeanne works out of her home studio and it's a nice enough place. A bit dusty, but comfortable. She used a plug-in blow dry/brush combo which I didn't think did the trick as far as smoothing my hair. Ended up flat on top and frizzy at the ends. I asked for some curls to add waves to it, and she used another tool I had never seen in a professional salon - an automatic hair curler (?). You basically put a piece of hair in it and it does all the work. I was a bit nervous about that because my hair is so fine and fried and wasn't sure how it "automatically knew the correct temperature to use". Also, she said that the curler could do curls in both directions, but my entire head was done in one direction with my left side having forward-facing curls. It was the most unusual blow dry I have ever had, and can't say I would try it again. On a positive note, she has a lot of funny stories about about brides/bridesmaids that were entertaining.

She refused to refund me and only after going to a salon in SC and having a stylist fix- or try to fix the carnage did she finally agree to refund me. She argued and continued to gaslight me. I can't believe this woman holds a license. Also, be warned- the photo of ashy toned blonde hair is NOT HER WORK!!! It's her own hair that's someone else does. My blonde ladies and gentlemen DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I just hope this review saves someone from getting their hair burnt off. Absolutely devastating. She not only ruined my hair, she was rude and dismissive during the appointment (and after), and I should have walked out before I let her touch me. The color was orange and striped like a skunk. The cut was uneven and she failed to respond for two days and then refused to fix it without charge which is industry standard when a stylist screws up. The damage was beyond belief but not even an apology from her or the vile owner who, of course, backed her stylist. I lost my home and have severe health problems related to Tropical Storm Helene and paying Destonie $315.00 for chunks of my hair to fall out is heartbreaking and inexcusable. Shame on her and Zhenya. These people are far too big for their small-town britches.

Mary & Kalla were my dream team for my wedding! They did an amazing job at my trial and then came…read moreback and crushed it again for the wedding! The day of my trial we were planning an updo because my wedding was supposed to be outside in the mountains which would've been windy, but the day of it was pouring and we moved the ceremony inside. Literally halfway through her doing my hair on the day of my wedding, I told Mary I wanted some of it down now that we wouldn't be outside and she didn't skip a beat! Both of these girls had the best attitudes! I felt like an absolute princess both days and would highly recommend Bella Bridal/Mary & Kalla to literally everyone getting married in Asheville. Prices were very reasonable and as you can see, they did an amazing job. The girls wore masks both times so if that's important to you like it was to me, know that they are definitely COVID conscious!
