Lisa Wittwer's website for Portland Waxing had by far the best information, and for me, especially under the heading "For the Guys". She discussed the different types of wax and what to expect both at the appointment and afterward. She also clearly states her pricing, so you can cherry-pick your appointment elements with a lot of options; maybe you want to try waxing in a specific area before you go for more options, and she's set up for that as well. I made my appointment and Ms. Wittwer greeted me at her door. She treated me like she had no other appointments, like I was her only concern. She reviewed our plans, where I wanted my waxing, and how much of a sting I could get at different areas. Strangely, only my chest really had a zap, everywhere else was just like a quick slap. I think it's like when you lower yourself into cold water, the chest has more nerves or something. The room is warm and the table is super comfortable. Lisa uses palm size warm wax strips, apply, pop, apply pop apply pop, it's no big- we had a wonderful chat throughout the waxing, and thanks to her website I knew she'd be using the right kind of wax not to cause injury. I was thrilled with the look and feel of the final result. I didn't need my legs done since they're naturally almost bare now, just the torso plus the Brazilian enhancement; my back can get like a forest since it's hard to do well reaching around with my Mach 3 shaver; my chest is easy but the waxing lasted much longer, of course. No daily morning shave required, which was nice. With this being a public site I won't go into detail, but I can tell you there's no problem with the Brazilian aspect; Lisa is super nice and any physical discomfort is over literally in a second; stubbing your toe is a bigger deal. If I were professional class instead of a clerk, I'd have Portland Waxing scheduled regularly. You'll want to grow your hair to about a quarter to half inch so the wax has something to affix to. Because I shave regularly I had to wait for a long time before I could go, so don't be like me: set aside your regular body shaving in anticipation of your appointment. Also, parking can be difficult, since it's a residential area across from a popular park.
