What was supposed to be a healing self care day for my mom and me turned into a complete disaster. My mom just got out of the hospital and after battling chronic injuries for over a year I decided we both deserved a pick me up so I booked a full highlight and cut for myself, and a haircut for her. We went to Blush Salon expecting kindness and care. Instead, we got chaos. Red flag #1: the second we walked in the vibe was cold. The front desk looked annoyed just to check us in, but I brushed it off. I came prepared with inspo photos for my color and cut. Audrey seemed confident, and I trusted her especially as she quickly foiled my highlights while I relaxed. That peace was short lived. Another stylist washed out my bleach and Audrey came back to slap on what I think was toner...followed by two more rounds of toning. Each rinse? With hot water. On freshly bleached hair. If you know, you know that's a huge no no. I sat at the shampoo bowl for over an hour, painfully uncomfortable, counting track lighting, dusty chandeliers, and bricks on the wall just to distract myself. Eventually, it was time for the cut or so I thought. Instead, Audrey sprayed my soaking wet hair with product and spent nearly two hours yanking a brush through my scalp, soaking me with detangler and other random products. It was aggressive, exhausting, and painful. No one stepped in. No coaching. Just chaos. Eventually another stylist started brushing the other side. Now I was being tag teamed as my neck was jerked left and right. By that point, the front of my hair was dry, frizzy, and my neck had had enough. I told them I was done no haircut, just give me my purse. I was walking out. Of course, that caused a scene. Women swarmed the front desk like I was some spectacle. I was mortified, feeling like a drowned rat, and then red flag #?? the blonde at the front DESERVED an Oscar for the way she rolled her eyes while talking about me. Zero compassion. Zero professionalism. They shoved a phone at me saying, "You want to talk to the manager? She's on the phone." No. I didn't want to talk to anyone I wanted to disappear. At this point, it was 6:00 PM. I'd been there since 2:30 PM. And I forgot to mention: before all of this, Audrey hacked off 4 inches of hair on DRY, previously braided hair just to "save product." What?! I couldn't deal. I walked outside for air. My mom being the angel she is stood up for both of us. As I sat in the car trying to calm down, the blonde who rolled her eyes FOLLOWED US OUT. She started questioning why my hair was "so knotted" and accused me of having other color in it. For the record, I told them upfront: I haven't colored my hair in over a year, and the last thing used was a simple 5RC from Age Beautiful with 20 vol developer. Nothing wild. But now you're gaslighting me? That was the final straw. I got out of the car and let her know exactly how disrespected I felt. What should've been a sweet mother daughter day turned into a circus. I went home, grabbed a $5 Walmart brush, and detangled my own hair in under five minutes proving how unnecessary and ridiculous that whole ordeal was. But the worst part? Here I am on the 4th of July days later and I still can't touch my scalp. I tried to gently shampoo and condition, and the second I grazed my head, I winced. My scalp is screaming. It's raw, inflamed, and painful. No one should walk out of a salon with their head feeling like it's been through a cheese grater. I left with: * A migraine * Neck and shoulder pain * Uneven, frizzy highlights * 4 inches of hair gone (unevenly) * And zero dignity So thank you, Blush Salin, for making your clients feel humiliated,, traumatized, disrespected, and physically unwell. I have been escaping to Blush Salon to see my stylist Staci for haircuts and color services a few years now! Staci greets you with the sweetest smile that makes you feel so welcome. She asks questions every time, making sure she gets my vision for trends or any changes. Navigating different styles, she is honest about what my kind of hair will do. I love that. You can trust that Staci is an excellent, professional cosmetologist that really cares. Sometimes I don't know how much services are exactly. People should leave their personal feelings at home and do their job. People who work closely with the public should have been required to wear masks. Blush is not for the older woman. This salon was recommended to me by Lulu's Wiggin' Out in Crystal Lake. They are trying to attract a younger crowd and today after going there for a haircut, I felt embarrassed, as the hairstylist refused to talk to me. A haircut is $70.00. On the way out, I was not ever offered another appointment. I have always been generous with my tips, but will not go to this salon again. read more

(Posting a late review) I got my hair done at the end of March by Caily and I could not be more in love with how it turned out! It was my first time going to blush salon and I was a little hesitant to try a new place. I showed Caily a few pictures from Pinterest and she combined them all gave me such beautiful results. She took great attention to the details and really took her time to accomplish the look I was going for. I also love the products they use and ended up purchasing a few. She recently left the salon and moved elsewhere and I chose to get my hair done by a stylist at the same level as Angelica. I made an appointment with Briana for a Balayage which takes at least a 3 hour window. I told her I wanted an ashy blonde balayage and I left the salon with yellow hair and a smudge root. She seemed like she was rushing me and didn't cut out 3 hours to do my hair. I was extremely upset with my hair and I absolutely hated it. If I could put minus 5 I would. Loved the Instagram page and the work done on the hair. My hair did not look anywhere as good. I naturally have very light brown color. My stylist told me that getting me to an ash color will be no problem in a first time. And I trusted. Showed the picture of the hair I want and this is what I got ... When I called to fix it I was made dumb, saying that it's how it's suppose to be. Shortly after the stylist called me saying I will never look like a picture and that's how I can look only. Drive an hour to them, and got made a fool of. Now that I finally feel comfortable to give them a shot to fix it after 3 weeks I called them and was told they will not do it for free because it's a new procedure fr what I need to pay a full price. They didn't make good on their Groupon and then acted indignant that I would want the money back because I didn't get the full service. They the asked that I come back next week and spend 300 for a corrective color .So now I'm out 75$ and had to go spend 65$ to get my hair colored which turned out fine. So now I'm out 140$ for a cut and root color. Tami was very snobby saying my hair was not nice enough for her to put her name on it and she said she wouldn't do a quick fix. So I called the owner and she agreed to give me 40$ back but made me chase her around for 40$ she never repaid me. read more

Two weeks ago, Megan did my hair for my wedding. She was fantastic! She had such amazing attention to detail -- every hair was meticulously placed, and she communicated with me throughout the entire style to make sure it was perfect and exactly what I wanted. She is also a sweetheart and made the whole experience lovely. I highly recommend Megan for any special occasions! My bridal party also had their hair done at Blush, and everyone looked lovely. I really appreciated how many stylists they have, so everyone could get their hair done at the same time. On a separate note, there was some confusion with the front office regarding the level of services I had booked and the pricing we had previously agreed on. Because I could not remember the name of the woman I'd spoken with on the phone that week, they refused to honor the price that had been quoted to me (and that was printed on my bridal services form submitted months beforehand). I ultimately decided not to remove a star from my review because Megan was just THAT amazing and I would absolutely do it all again at Blush Salon (plus it was only a $10 difference). But that hiccup was a bit frustrating, and a bummer of a way to end my appointment, so FYI -- write down the name of anyone you speak with, because otherwise the front office folks can be quite stubborn. read more

Briana is BY FAR the best colorist I've ever seen in my life, I am extremely picky (I am a hairstylist myself) and have always "liked" my hair but I've honestly never loved it until she worked her magic!! Her attention to detail blew me away! Perfectionist doesn't even begin to describe how she detailed ever section of my hair. The techniques she used I couldn't have asked her to do it any differently even if I wanted to, it was like she was reading my mind! Upon styling my hair when I got home, I found NOT ONE imperfection. Not only did she out preform my expectations, but she was SUPER easy to talk to! She is extremely knowledgeable in her profession, and I believe it's because she TRULY LOVES what she does- it isn't just her "job" it's her life and it very clearly shows! I tried calling a few weeks ago to schedule a pedicure. The website has pricing for pedicures. I wanted a more spa like feel than the normal strip mall places. I called to schedule and the rudest person told me they don't do them anymore. I mentioned it was on the website and she told me she would tell someone and hung up on me. I had my balayage done here, it looked great the day I left. I can say that I was pretty happy with it. It wasn't till the toner faded out that I saw just how terrible of a job the stylist did. I had zagged lines all throughout my hair, it was not well blended. I had gone far enough to reach out the stylist, show her the picture and ask if she could do it and to be honest with me. She assured me she could and did not come even close to a balayage. As you can see in the pictures below the back of my head was completely missed and the sides were zagged. I had to spend another $200 to get my hair fixed and the stylist there apologized for what had happened at Blush Salon and told me it would take multiple appointments to cover up what had been done to my hair. Do not come to this salon unless you are with someone experienced. All I got was an apology from the stylist, she just brushed it off. read more

Okay, I actually feel terrible writing this review for Blush because I had the highest hopes for the salon after following their Instagram page. I know they have plenty of talented stylists there and Im shocked because the stylist I chose was highly recommended across Yelp and had wonderful work on her Instagram (maybe it was an off day- or maybe she hated me). However, the haircut I received here is inexcusable. They get 2 stars because I actually love the color I got, but color can be fixed... Ratchet hair cuts cannot be undone without chopping off what's left of my hair. I am growing my hair out for my wedding (after having gotten a lob last year) so I asked my stylist to do the bare minimum trim. She said 1 inch (fine by me) but ended up chopping off at least 3. Okay, that's not where my issue is. I also said NO CHUNKY LAYERS and not only did she give me lots of chunky layers, she honestly gave me, hands down, the worst hair cut of my life. It's uneven, missing chunks, random long sections, random chopped sections.... See the photos I'm attaching. It looks like a deranged 5 year old took scissors to my head. The icing on the cake is that my engagement photos are coming up and I don't even know what to do to my hair to fix it besides resort to going back to the lob again. read more

You know this salon is successful when they are building a bigger location! I always go to Caily for my cuts and colors. I'm that customer that always goes "uhhhh just make me *insert vague hair color idea here*" and she knows exactly what to do. I can put my trust in her knowing she understands what works with my natural colors, my skin tone, etc. Usually we do the balayage technique which always looks FAB!!!!! I drive all the way from downtown Chicago just to get my hair done by her. 10/10 would recommend Caily anybody. read more
