On May 11th, 2026, I had an appointment with Rachel McCarty for a perm at Blushes Salon and Spa, 5464 Anton Hwy, Granbury, TX. On arrival, I explained several times to McCarty, that my hair was hard to perm years ago (it had been approx. 20 years since I had one.) The photo I showed McCarty was of a more relaxed wave style. She determined at the time, the best effect would come from a regular curly perm, using the 3/4" to 1" curling rods. She instructed me to not wash it for several days, no comb or hairbrush and to shampoo it with curly hair shampoo. She said, in the mornings, spray with water and crunch the hair to retain the curls. I sprayed with water for the first 2 days and noticed my hair was straightening out, and it had not been washed, brushed, combed etc. I did not spray with water the rest of the week, nor did I wash it. I ran my fingers through it and slept with a satin wrap. I forwarded to McCarty photos of my hair, loosing all the curl in less than a week. She instructed me to wash it and it would bounce back. I did not wash it until the 19 or 20th. I forwarded McCarty more pics of my hair in it's natural straight form. I have never had this happen. In writing, she said she would refund the $135.00 and forward to me. I told her I appreciated that and was sorry, perhaps the perm was not good. Weeks later, I messaged her and mentioned I had not received said refund. She then explained, she used a Wave Perm and that's why it did not hold. She was rude and said she would only refund $90.00, which was less $45.00 for a bare trim I received at the time. I agreed and told her I appreciated that. Thinking about the Wave Perm...and my having explained to her that my hair looses curl in weeks...I questioned why she was now saying she used a Wave Perm... with big rods on my hair? It didn't make sense. McCarty has since said she would only refund using Cash App or Venmo. I explained I would never expose my bank account to such apps because fraud etc, she could forward my Money Order etc. She said she would not refund using any other method. Take it or leave it! I recently visited the charming town of Granbury for a much needed getaway and sabbatical. I ended my time in the area with a two hour massage with Jimmy. What a treat! Although I receive massages often, this massage was undoubtedly the best, most enjoyable massage I have ever had. The quiet, secluded cottage in which Jimmy performs his magic was so perfect.
