The owners who currently live at the Brook House are aging and push back constantly against anyone who looks or acts different from them. There's a bit of tribalism at the Brook House that interferes with having a nice and respectful atmosphere. To make matters worst the management company on the premise (mostly white senior staff and one or two people of color as tokens) perpetuate the owner against renter syndrome to accommodate their financial interests. The security and maintenance staff are all people of color a stark contrast to the all white senior staff. The all white senior would not be a problem in a predominantly all white development but given the recent surge and diversity due to Chinese buying condos at the Brook House one would think that having an Asian American in their senior staff would make sense. These and other issues regarding race disparities are evident as you approach or decide to move into the Brook House. I would also concur with the previous reviewer that construction at the Brook House never lets up. I've been living here for almost 3 years to my chagrin and had to deal with the constant disruption due to construction. My lifestyle has been unduly affected due to constant turmoil and maintenance of an older development. One last thing - the security environment at the Brook House is overzealous and at times counter productive. We all know from research that having an exuberant security system to monitor tenants is invasive and at best breaks against privacy matters. There are cameras EVERYWHERE and I've seen management use them not to protect tenants but as a weapon to be used against them. A closer look at these systems of security may reveal a certain degree of bias not proven yet. In addition, the so called gym director for lack of better term is antagonistic against those who are "new" to the development. I've seen first hand this bias and had to seek out gym membership outside the development to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Overall, this place lacks a warm and living environment due to the clashes of tribalism against the old and new. I recommend prospective renters to seek other living alternatives than the Brook House.

Always had good service from maintenance and cleaning staff is friendly and thorough, but if you want a good customer experience, rent anywhere else.
