Horrible. I hate to write a bad review, but nothing was good about my overnight stay here. Our room wasn't ready until almost 5PM, we finally get up to our room and the keys they gave us didn't work...followed by the door for our adjoining rooms, elevator door and the vending machine. The staff was very unhelpful, but we didnt spend much time inside the room. We made the best of it, which came back to slap us in the face. They charged my friends credit card 200$ for damages to the room; pen and paint marks. We have been calling to dispute it and get the complete run around from every employee, but the manager has been by far the rudest. We were excited to bring our two sons to Universal Studios for their birthdays. The positives: BLVD Hotel is a great location - just a short walk to the park. And, in general, it is a nicely kept facility with spacious, nicely furnished rooms. The negatives: I tend to neither like nor trust any company that is not open and transparent with their information. We made the booking through their web site. Our total charges (on our attached, downloadable reservation form) for 2 nights in a suite with 2 queen beds was $452.50. We assumed that would be the final price. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and they charged us about $100 more, which they said included some additional taxes and parking fees ($31/night). They also advertise a pool, but it's a tiny, concrete enclosed indoor space in the parking garage that no one would enjoy. In my book, good customer service is built on trust. Even the staff at the reception desk said that they had recommended that the management adjust the online booking process to include the information above. Our stay would have been great if we didn't feel deceived from the very start. read more

My gf reserved this hotel for us to crash after a long day at Hollywood Studios. Upon on our arrival we were treated with lemonade-iced tea and cucumber infused water. The girl at the front desk checked us in. The most important information you should know is that yelp check in gets you a free parking spot. They also have happy hour from 5-7PM, with heavily discounted alcoholic beverages. The room was clean and provided all the usual items you'd expect at a 3-start hotel. My husband and I booked a room here because we were attending a concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre. I wanted to stay at the Hilton or Sheraton but really didn't want to pay $300+ a night so we opted for the BLVD Hotel & Spa off of Ventura for $185. When I booked this place I only looked at the reviews on the travel sites. Since it showed to be a 4 star rating I figured I was good. Once I got my confirmation back I decided to check Yelp just to see what our fellow Yelpers were saying about this place. OMG I was horrified!!! I seriously wanted to cancel my room after reading all of the reviews. My friend convinced me just to keep the reservation since we would only be in the room for one night and advised that it was way cheaper than the other hotels. She and her husband also booked a room. I fearfully agreed but was SUPER concerned that we would have a horrible stay. Well, we finally got there and yes, the parking is lame. HOWEVER, they have it down to a T. We had four cars with us and we simply parked, gave them the keys and they handled the rest. It was perfectly fine and there was no issue getting to our cars. Check in, was a breeze and the ladies at the front desk were super nice! Everything looked clean and organized. A fellow yelper describes this place as an Ikea and yes, it almost does feel like an Ikea. The room was clean, nice and spacious for 2 guests (King Standard Room). I do however; think this place needs to install better and brighter lighting. Beds are comfortable. Yelpers are right on target about the noise level. The floors are wood laminate and there is not a real sound barrier between the floors. So yes, you can hear some noise, from the rooms above; we were on the 2nd floor. Honestly though, it wasn't a big deal and since we were dead tired we feel asleep right through it. My favorite part of this room was the Wolfgang Puck coffee the hotel provides in the rooms. Need to have coffee in the morning so it's nice to have good coffee. Oh, check out is at 11 and you will get a polite call if you're not out by then lol, I'm guilty lol! If you're staying for one night, do it! Not sure I could handle more than 1 or 2 nights here though but overall, this place is a good value. I definitely would not recommend this place for families with kids. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. read more

Visually, BLVD looks great. I like the overall look of the place. A few small issues, though. First, as nice as the faux-hardwood tile floor looks, I'd have preferred carpeting through the entire room (except the bathroom, of course) for the following reasons. First, it helps to muffle the sound traveling between one room and the next. Second, it also deadens the sound of people walking in their own rooms, thus generating less noise, making it even easier for it to help muffle what noise there is. Being accustomed to east coast time, while I was staying here, I was typically trying to sleep much earlier than the group seemingly having a party in the room above me, and it was a bit tougher to sleep than I'd have preferred, due to the noise, and I believe the tile flooring contributed to that. At one point, the tv in my room had issues. We asked the front desk to have someone take a look, and unfortunately, I have no reason to believe anybody ever did. The next day, I spent an hour troubleshooting it, myself, and finally got it working again. Finally, maybe it was just a weird coincidence, but during the four days I was there, not a day went by that I didn't find an ant somewhere in my room. I only saw one each day... And one ant here and there is no big deal... But four days in a row? Overall, not a terrible experience, but it could have been better. read more

I can not recommend this Hotel. I paid $200 per night during the weekday and expected much more. They had no gym & no spa. They had the right idea with decorating and making this feel like a fresh hip hotel but they do not pay attention to detail. From the massive dirty handprints in the elevator, dirty hallway carpets, drill holes above the t.v. in lobby, exposed wires in all the hotel rooms with the t.v. and control boxes, dirty room walls, no pen/paper/Bible/attraction flyers, no maid service unless you specifically ask everyday. I was told the owner is 28 yrs old and vacations all the time. Sounds like he needs to stay at home more often to see to his hotel or there wont be a hotel to return to one day. It has all the making of a great hotel but clearly the owner is too immature to handle such a big responsiblity. read more

After reading many of these reviews I'm not sure if I would have been more upset because I DID go and had a similar gross experience, than the fact that I didn't. Wow. I see that I am not alone in the whole lack of response from management thing. My situation is unique in that I had planned to drive with my kids from Las Vegas to Hollywood on 7/11 to visit Universal Studios. However, the back-to-back earthquakes in Ridgecrest (that I felt in Vegas) had me antsy about going to CA at all, and I cancelled my reservation due to the potential danger of rock slides caused by after shocks and driving over some of the cracked roads. Expedia was willing to cancel my non-refundable reservation and so was Universal studios, but this property said no. I made a non-refundable reservation so I had to accept that. However, the next day I felt disrespected by the hotel in their lack of even offering alternative later dates, and I requested a waiver of the cancellation policy, since Universal had no problem with refunding my money. Whether they agree to do it or not is at their discretion. My issue is the non-response to my follow-up e-mails. I checked their room occupancy on those dates and the rooms were full, which made my cancellation a non-factor since they ended up gaining the desired revenue from my room. My $600 is now considered "bonus" income and I cannot even get the courtesy of a response from these people. I was a previous visitor to a different BLVD hotel property, but I will make sure that my personal and professional networks know to NEVER book with any of these properties. read more

So my mom and I we're here for a week in California we stayed Sunday through Friday at the Garland Hotel it was amazing best hotel experience we've ever had we then checked out to go visit relatives and came back up for a one night stay we stayed the The boulevard hotel and spa in Studio City we saw that it had 3 1/2 stars so couldn't be that bad right wrong!! To start when we first arrived we got there at about 1 PM they said that check in was at 3 PM and we could not pre-check in until 3 PM thand when they took our information at the front desk they never took my mothers phone number and they never gave back my mother's drivers license when we finally got back to the hotel at 3 PM the associate at the desk said oh by the way you forgot your licensewhich they did not get back to us in the first place! At that moment when they forgot our license they should've called my mother immediately but they never took our number to call us! When we checked in at one they could've gave us some ideas on how to spend two hours until check-in time they offer nothing. Then with the parking there is a double space parking lot so they have to take your car keys just in case you get blocked in so they can move your car for you I find that very unprofessional and I don't think a hotel should be that way! Now to talk about the Front desk associate all of them were very cold and not very welcoming they didn't seem to have any hospitality experience and they seem to hire very young unprofessional girls who dresed unprofessional! There was no manager on in the front lobby and if there was one they did not speak up! and there no one at the snack line to even take out order we then asked for change at the front desk because we needed it for parking meters but they didn't have any change what so ever and the disnt give us any suggestions where we could just get 4 quarters , what kind of hotel does not carry change at the front desk? We put that off considering that we got to the room it was actually quite nice the room itself is pretty but we had a view of all of the street traffic and street noise, as well as you can hear all the foot traffic above you! In the garland you could not hear a peep out of anyone. there was a slight odor in the room as well as the shower was very difficult to use the knobs were not easy and it was easy to fall in the shower because there's a huge ditch right in the middle! As well as the shower itself did not get hot it's just stayed Luke warm. Now for the TV they have DirecTV and the service constantly goes out! They asked for you to call the front desk if it continues but the front desk would have no control over their Wi-Fi not to mention that there Wi-Fi had been down for 10 minutes this afternoon when we checked, we could not print our boarding passes due to the website being down! The lighting in the room as well is not very bright the only kind of light that you do get is from the window if the shutters are open! As well as our side tables the plug-ins to the lamp are not working as well! As well as the parking lot there is no gate to get in so anybody can get in they can go park there was no security to control that! as we were in the garage there was a gentleman with his music blaring loud making the whole garage bump with music which I thought was unprofessional to have someone just sitting there and it seemed very unsafe! Overall I'm glad that we're only staying here one night and not our whole trip I wish that the front desk would've been more courteous to our needs and a little bit more professional they all seem very young like I said and I think that was one of my main issues with the entire hotel was their customer service I really hope that the manager reads this review so they can hopefully improve on their customer service skills I'm sure a lot of famous and wealthy people come to this hotel and I'm sure you have wonderful reviews from other people but with our experience we expect great customer service nice front desk staff and we did just did not receive that, we received smiles from the front desk everytime which seemed fake as well as they seemed very judge mental! Overall I give it 1 to 2 stars and if we would've known we would've paid the extra money just to stay at the Garland Hotel again we highly recommend the garland Hotel!! The morning of checkout we arrive at the front desk there was a gentleman there and he seemed to be the nicest one of them all because he asked if my mom remembered to grab her license and was courteous, but to play off that we finally get to the airport and the boarding passes we had the hotel print out for us because the Wi-Fi was down they printed out the Barco way too big so then we had to go back to the front desk of the airport and get new boarding passes that's a little frustrating don't you think! read more

We usually travel to LA a couple times per year, and at least once a year we go to Universal Studios and stay here at The BLVD. If you happen to be looking for a room while visiting Universal Studios, I highly recommend it. We've also stayed at other hotels nearby and even The Hilton which is directly inside Universal, but that's a total let down for many reasons. The BLVD is only about 2 miles or so from the park, and if you're going to be doing anything else while in town, I find it much easier to get in and out of here then hotels inside the park area. It's located on Ventura just off the 101 and can be a little confusing if it's your first time staying. Because it's directly on the side of the road, there's no parking lot and only a handful of spots on the street itself. Instead they have a slightly weird setup with the parking garage, if you can even call it that, right underneath the rooms. In my opinion, it's the worst part of this hotel due to the way it's setup. The majority of the spots are two car lengths and they expect you to park in front of, or behind someone, then you have to be called down any time you're blocking another car in or are blocked yourself. On more then one occasion we've had a real headache getting out because the design is so stupid, and people just don't know how to park. If you can score a single car spot, do it! And make sure you use the free parking with Yelp check-in. They've even let us use two Yelp accounts for free parking on multi-night stays. The rooms themselves are nothing special, but very decent for the price. We've stayed here twice now and both times the rooms were well under $200 per night. Considering the location, I think it's well worth it. Much like the hotel itself, the rooms are very modern styled and actually pretty spacious. Each one we stayed in had a desk area as well as a semi separated sleeping area with TV, dresser, etc. They've got all the standard amenities, and I like that they even have a fridge and wine coolers. Our rooms have always had a nice and big comfy king bed, which is the most important part, right? All the staff we've come in contact with has been great. You actually end up walking by the front desk every time you enter or exit and we've never not been met with smiles. Even on our second visit, where we walked in to our room and it looked like they forgot to clean the bathroom, they apologized and without blinking an eye, got us right into a whole new room. As a whole, this is a solid 3.5 star hotel in my opinion, especially when considering the area and price. Besides the parking issues, I'm really surprised to see that they get such terrible reviews. For our next trip to Universal later in the year, we'll definitely have The BLVD high on our lists of places to stay. read more

The have a good idea going, but it still needs to be perfected. The staff was friendly, but seemed inexperienced. The King Suite was very nicely decorated and the wood floors were a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable as well too. The Shower was weird. It has a shower head in front of you and another one right above you. You have to MacGyver it just to turn it on. The lobby lounge is very narrow and small, but not cozy. It is also odd that as soon as you exit the elevator, the Front Desk is right there. The location is mostly why I choose to stay. It's like less then 10min to Hollywood/Highland area and walking distance to Universal Studios. Besides location, I would probably not stay there again. read more

Check in on 3/27/2017. Still here and it has been a wonderful stay. I had a room that wasn't to my liking and Mandy took care of it right away. This location is very convenient, right across the street from the US101 highway which leads to all attractions & hotspots. This hotel is 5 minutes away from Universal Studios so there is no need to drive and pay the 18 parking fee at Universal Studios. Hotel staff, cleanliness and location are fantastic. I will be coming back in November. read more

I stayed here again a week ago and the service wasn't as great as it was my first time going. We stayed at the hotel for 4 days and had two queen beds. When my family and I tried watching tv, but for some odd reason whenever we tried changing the channel the tv would have a black screen and took maybe 15 minutes for it to actually show up. Then when my family and I left to go to Universal Studios housekeeping showed up when we were about to leave. My boyfriend told the person to come back in a bit because we were still getting ready and she said ok. When we came back to the hotel, housekeeping did NOT return to our room and clean up. I ran out of conditioner the day before and was hoping for them to replenish it, but luckily I bought conditioner at LUSH before we left City Walk. read more

Is it possible to give 0 stars? This hotel is definitely not worth the price at ALL. DO NOT STAY HERE I stayed here one night. They advertised having a sunny pool, which is a lie. There pool is in the parking garage, indoors 12x12. And there is no spa what so ever. They have "room service but no kitchen." The food is not worth the price and not even worth the try. It's from a cafe down the street, which takes forever to be delivered so by the time the food actually arrives it's cold. They have a snack bar as well. I came down twice to get some food, no one was there so I asked the front desk for help, they seemed annoyed at this. We also requested more towels because we had went to the pool, half an hour went by and still no towels. We had to call them and ask for them again, they had "forgot to send them up" We also went to dinner, and upon our arrival there was a suspicious man in normal street clothes wondering in the parking lot looking in the cars. They claimed to have a security guard keeping an eye on things but I never saw one. What really did it for me was that I also accidentally left a designer item of clothing there by mistake. I called immediately to notify them of it, and it was NOT found which is most likely a lie. I didn't stay or take it anywhere else. The receptionist told me " house keeping wouldn't be able to determine whether it was designer or not." OK SURE. If you leave something behind the staff isn't even trust worthy enough to to return it. Don't bother staying here. Look at the other reviews. read more

The whole purpose of this location was for our trip to universal studios, (35min. Walk) this hotel charges $31 a day for parking (including the few hours before check out-which we left at 7 a.m not caring to stay any longer) Paid about 400 for two nights, (+117 for parking and taxes) which DID NOT include any *room service*. they have a big sign about wasting towels which makes sense, but one towel for three Days? it was almost an issue to get a second one, was also an obstacle on getting a fresh sheet. was on hold with someone who didn't seem too pleased on us asking for just the comforter but even that was too much, it was almost as if they put a dirty one in the dryer received a different one with stains and holes...no one came for trash so we changed the bags ourselves. never been to a hotel so overpriced with such little help. Killed a few ants in the room, as well as one of those scissor bugs. regret trying something new this time around, wishing i would've paid $200 more for the Hilton which is actually walking distance, and would've gotten a vacation hotel experience. read more

I booked this hotel because I was vacationing and wanted to be near Universal Studios. The description of this hotel sounded like it was a luxury spa hotel. It was not. When I arrived the staff at the front desk acted like it was bothering them to have to stop and check us in. Once we got up to our room we discovered the air conditioner didn't work at all. It was a very hot summer day and the room was also hot. I called the desk and someone came up to fix it. He couldn't get it to work either so he gave us a room upgrade. That room had no power in the outlets in the bathroom so we had to use the outlets in the room to plug in hair appliances. Not very convenient and disappointing to see the rooms in such poor repair. Everything in the room looked somewhat old and tired. I expected a lot more for the price I paid and the description of the hotel at booking. Both nights we were there the hallways smelled like someone was smoking pot. Seriously??? This was so inappropriate! There were families with small children staying at the hotel. The only positive thing I have to say is there was a hotel shuttle to take you to Universal. I will book a different hotel on my next visit! read more

I read the reviews before checking inn and had second thoughts but decided to make my own judgement. Housekeeping was really nice and i got extra toiletries lol. Even though the Spa wasn't ready yet, i'm definetly coming back when it is because everyone was so nice. The front desk staff booked me a tour all over hollywood and i got to see a lot in only two days! I was traveling alone so it was nice too see that there was someone there all the time. Despite some of the negative reviews I saw on yelp, I took a chance and expected something "ghetto". There were a couple of funky people around the neighborhood, but they don't bother you. Before booking my 2 night stay, I looked at various hotels including Holiday Inn, Marriott Burbank Airport, Courtyard by Marriott, and Embassy Suites. BLVD Hotel & Spa was the most expensive, but seemed to be the most convenient location near Universal Studios and also seemed like a high end hotel. Small room with 2 full size beds, big fridge, bathroom was clean. Parking is $20 a night and you have to give your keys to the front desk if you are parked on the outside due to the limited spaces available. Wifi is free but spotty. The staff is very friendly and nice and they have happy hour at the bar where you get a complimentary beverage in the evening. What ruined the stay and why I would not recommend this hotel or book here again is for 2 reasons. 1. The whole room smelled like CIGARS and cigarettes on the 2nd day because someone was smoking in another room causing the whole floor to wreak of cigars. We reported this and the staff acted immediately but the experience was not good. 2. The walls are extremely thin and the whole night I heard coughing sounds every 2 minutes coming from the next door from 12AM - 3AM. I am not high maintenance or picky. I have slept fine in hostels with 8+ people. The appliances in the room were pretty cheap (the phone cord fell off, the sink was missing fixtures. I was really disappointed because I paid the premium because I wanted my family to be more comfortable but what we got was a cheap "resort" and a really bad experience for both nights. If you book one of the chains -a Marriott, Sheraton, Embassy Suites, etc. I GUARANTEE it will be more roomy, comfortable, and cheaper for you. I have never had such a bad hotel experience and I travel a lot and have stayed at a variety of hotel brands and chains. This is not one I would ever go back to despite the friendly staff. read more

Very nice place. Friendly staff we were even allowed to park our car here while we went and spent our day at universal studios which us about a 10 min walk to the shuttle to universal city walk. The only thing is the pool is very small and in the parking garage in the corner. But there is a small bar in the lobby. Rooms were very clean beds comfortable. Just a five minute walk from the Universal Studios shuttle. Our room was a small suite, two queen beds with a large bathroom, small kitchen area, and a small balcony. The use of available space made the room feel large and airy. The fridge and microwave helped me keep food costs down after a trip to the Ralph's just two block away. We had a very comfortable stay. The staff is great, with prompt and friendly service. Prices in the snack bar are quite reasonable. I look forward to staying there again. read more

My family and I stayed here for a short trip to Universal Studios during Christmas Break. We like to proximity of the location but did not like the additional $17 parking fee. The small swimming pool is tucked in the corner of the garage and is heated but the staff has to first turn on the heat for you before you go in. It's obvious that the property is going through some renovations and things are looking good so far. I suggest that the front desk staff help out with finger prints on the glass doors and spots on the elevator floor. read more

This has been a great experience. The staff is amazing. I got the single king bed room and it is HUGE!!! There is free wifi. I did have to pay $20 for parking though and I thought online it said parking was free. The bar is great also. Drinks are inexpensive and poured heavy! My room faced the Main Street which got a little noisy (I didn't mind that), so if you are the type to need peace and quiet, request a room that is not facing the street. We stayed here for one night during Valentine's/Presidents day weekend and it was a great, pleasing experience. Our trip was only to visit Universal Studios/Citywalk and the hotel's location was ideal. I would've booked the nearby Sheraton or Hilton for being next door to the theme park, but didn't feel like forking over $300 for one night and those hotels are rather old. The Blvd cost half that and is still fairly new - only a 10 minute walk (though I'd recommend walking 5 mins from the hotel to the park shuttle because the uphill climb to the park doesn't look fun!) The hotel was very clean and modern. Our room was on the 2nd floor and faced the street. When we stay here again (which we will, we liked it that much) we'll endeavor to check in on time @ 3pm because we'll likely have a better chance of getting a room in the back of the hotel, away from the street. The street noise wasn't actually that bad, but the street lights were pretty bright, even when we closed the window shutters as tight as we could. Yes, the neighborhood looks pretty shady but I wasn't concerned - that's LA for you. It's not like the streets were littered with trash or suspicious people. It's just not flashy as if you're in Bel Air. Haha The staff at the front desk were very nice and cordial. We didn't have to trouble them with any requests so I can't comment on their helpfulness though they did seem eager to please. Parking is one of those situations where you can park your vehicle against the wall and there is another space behind you that can be filled. This is fine if you're not planning on using your car again during your stay (like us, we were able to walk everywhere) and you don't have to worry about getting your car out. (If you're lucky, you can try to get one of the spots in the back that are single spots only.) It's not the end of the world to park in the double-up spots but it's just a hassle to wait to have the parking guys move around the cars. Or if you're the one parked behind someone, having to hand your keys over to the front desk so they can move your car if they have to. Hi I frequent many 5 * hotels and read the reviews only after I paid a groupon. My best friend and I went for a overnight get away. No major complaints, but all the signature drinks they had on the menu they were missing one of the key ingredients so i had to settle for a margarita. the pool looks like a large sauna, not my idea of heated and it its inside the parking garage. Otherwise the room was great the bed was comfy, I would also suggest fixing the window panels so that the customer can have complete darkness. The snacks should be in a vending machine or free they were all sara lee bagels and fruit then you had to wait for the the desk receptionist (now that I think about it may have been the bartender also) to come and assist you for your purchase. So I dont believe she had an opportunity to wash her hands or use any hand santizer. Do U? Not sure I would return again unless I had a groupon or free night stay. Not bad but just ok read more
