    Wrought iron gate
    Sara G.

These guys did a great job. I needed a wrought iron gate for the side of my house. They gave me a free estimate and pricing the next day. Couple days later came out and installed my gate. They were on time finished the job quickly! I was also blown away by how cheap they charged! I definitely recommend this company.

Hinge installed by BMJ completely broken off. They do not stand by their work.

Failed Workmanship, (Unlicensed) BNJ refuses to address the matter: I hired Jeff to reweld/repair my ugly, saggy wrought iron gate in 2019 and add a privacy panel. The new gate was heavier than the old gate so Jeff indicated a new, larger support post and heavy duty hinges had to be installed in order to support the heavier weight. I asked at that time if 2 hinges were enough and suggested perhaps a third hinge might provide more support. Jeff stated two were enough. The final result was very attractive and I was pleased. However, just a couple of months later, the gate started to sag and put weight and pressure on the deadbolt when it was in the locked position. I informed Jeff and he sent someone out to cut the hole where the deadbolt inserts larger in order to release the pressure on the deadbolt. Over the next couple years, the hole had to be cut at least 2 or 3 additional times for the same reason as the door continued to sag. At one point the pressure on the deadbolt caused it to break and the lock had to be replaced. Fast forward to March 2023. I again had the same problem and the weight on the deadbolt needed to be relieved again due to sagging. I called Jeff. He asked for photos which I sent. He stated the post needed to be replaced, but the post is perfectly vertically leveled and has not moved since installation. I asked that he come and see what was going on. He promised to do so each time I called, but never followed up. Now he will not answer my calls or return my voicemails. The top hinge (which BNJ installed) has broken clean off and all of the gate's weight rests entirely on the last remaining (bottom) hinge. My car is stuck on the inside of the gate since the gate cannot be opened until the hinge is fixed. I informed Jeff. He apparently doesn't care. Apparently the hinge was the problem the whole time and it needs to be repaired. After some research, Although BNJ advertises their business as an "Iron Fence Contractor", that is a lie. This business is not licensed and therefore not bonded. Iron gate manufacturers are required to have a Contractor's license such as a "C-23 Ornamental Metal Contractor" I warn others to choose wisely when hiring an iron work professional. Now I am stuck on my own to deal with this problem which is apparently a result of defective workmanship. Since BNJ is unwilling to even assess the situation, I will be following up with the CA Contractors' Licensing Board and exploring civil litigation as necessary.

Jeffrey at BNJ Iron Works is very personable, honest, and will do his very best to satisfy your project needs. For my project they perform quality work and completed on-time, per my requested finish date! The work area was left very clean. They will work with you on design details, just make sure you let them know in advance there may be several iterations before you know exactly what you want. There was three design changes on my project before I settled on the final design. There was an additional materials cost for this activity, but I believe it was fair. Give BNJ a call for your project!

BNJ was the third company we requested a bid from and are glad we did. The other two companies we met with recommended complete replacement of all the iron sections of our stucco and iron fence. Jeffrey was the only bidder who really inspected the job and suggested that we only replace the three sections that were rusted through. In his opinion the other sections were still in good condition. His approach saved us thousands of dollars, and we appreciated it. The work was completed in about a week after we gave him the green light, and that included painting the new sections the same color as the existing fence sections. Give BNJ a chance if you have need of their services. You won't be disappointed.

We hired Ivan's Masonry for two jobs: driveway renovation and a new stairway with walkway. From onset it was a long journey for us figuring out what material we will be comfortable with. Ivan patiently consulted us on every available material: concrete, stamping, coloring, and many styles from different providers of concrete pavers. None really resonated with our vision. After a month of research we ended up selecting clay pavers for their traditional look and lasting quality. The problem was that no contractor in our area would even consider working with clay pavers. Initially Ivan also refused but with some prodding he actually agreed to install clay pavers and did an amazing job. The team would start consistently punctually at 7 am and worked full days. Ivan, the owner, would work on the job 100%, including operating the equipment and setting the pavers. The site was kept reasonably clean and the process was well organized. We love the results. Our house became the model for the street as a first house with pavers. Many people complimented on the improvements and expressed the desire to contract with Ivan's Masonry. We are wising Ivan to prosper in his business, and for you guys - wishing you to choose your masonry contractor wisely. Go Ivan's Masonry!

Our backyard project included new flagstone installation, drainage solutions, mortar work, and blending old and new materials together. The crew worked very hard and showed real craftsmanship throughout the project. Pita (Pete) was patient with our many questions and took the time to explain the drainage system and test everything carefully before finishing the job. He clearly has a lot of experience and wanted to make sure the water flow issues were properly addressed. The finished stonework looks beautiful and has completely transformed the space. We especially appreciated the attention to detail, the effort to preserve and reuse existing flagstone where possible, and the willingness to work through challenges as they came up. The project required creativity and problem-solving, and we felt the team genuinely cared about the final outcome. We originally had Crown Pavers do a lot of work for us 10 years ago. They did an OK job although…read morethere were a couple of basic mistakes (fire pit not centered, walkway lines not lining up) but not horrible. The problems started soon after when some touch up work needed to be done from damage caused by another contractor. We never expected them to fix it for free as the other contractor was going to pay for it. Still, Manny went in a tirade with my wife seriously disrespecting her and giving her grief. They did ultimately come out to make the repairs at no charge. Fast forward to now. We had some lights that burnt out needing to be replaced, we wanted the pavers power washed and resealed, and there were a handful of pavers that needed to be reattached... nothing major. My wife wanted to give Manny another chance as they did the original work. She called him and told him what needed to be done. He said text the address and he will let her know when he can come by to look at it. She did and we never heard back. She contacted him again a few days later and asked what happened, got excuses. A day and time were set. The day comes, and I have taken off work. He texts her in the morning saying he's stuck on a job far away and can't make it. The day is rescheduled. The next scheduled day comes, I take off work again, the time comes and goes and no Manny. After waiting 2 hours, my wife texted him. He read the message a few minutes later and never answered back. That was days ago, and we have still never heard back from him. Keep in mind, this is how he is treating an existing customer who has previously paid him 10's of thousands of dollars. You be the judge. I am giving the original work 3.5 and everything since 0, so I am being generous with the 2 rating. To Manny's response... I have the off centered fire place and lines not lining up on the walkway... not my imagination. We also still have your insulting messages from 10 years ago. Finally, you have time to read and give a long response to this review from Mexico, but you don't have time for a quick phone call or text saying an emergency came up and you can't make it. I don't think so. You keep saying "we", but this has all been you personally. Not an employee, not Crown Pavers... you. As for problems during the job 10 years ago, also not true. The problems only started when we called you about the repairs which again the contractor was going to pay for.
