Finding Jonny Emerick randomly scrolling through Instagram, I spied a geometric planter he made from scraps. Thinking 'if you have to ask... you can't afford it' I almost didn't enquire... Well the piece captured me and I sent a message asking, and the piece graces the entrance to my forever home. I wanted a stable place to store our spirited beverage bottles, I found a piece which sadly was no longer available. I sent an enquiry to Jonny asking if he could create something for a specific price range, we worked out dimensions, and he was given license to exercise his creativity, it was actually a gift for my mother, since we have young grandchildren, and needed to keep both the champagne, Prager Port & the children safe. I ultimately decided I didn't want to go with Wrought Iron doors after our conversation. I shopped around for a good price for a new fence for my backyard. Johnny's price was one of the best. Him and his crew showed up when they said they would and got the job done as agreed. Complete demo and disposal of my old fence and installation of the new one. Even though prices on materials had gone up he did not try to charge me more. There was some small damage to my neighbors stucco which Johnny did not cause and he offered to fix it at no additional charge. Best of all Johnny is super friendly and professional at the same time. It's like having your best friend build your fence except he knows what he's doing and he does it well. He takes pride in his work and it shows in the attention to detail. Johnny loves his work and treats it like art. I'm a home inspector myself and I am very pleased the the finished product. It's solid and exactly what I wanted. I can't thank Emerick Iron Works enough for my beautiful stair railings! Jon took down my 1970's stair railings and transformed them into the staircase of my dreams. I found a rectangular railing style that coordinated with the geometry of my home, and Jon painstakingly remade each spindle (I have a lot of them) identical to the photograph I had sent him. He removed the thick wooden cap and replaced it with a sleek, minimalistic one. Then, the railings were powdered coated bronze to match the accents throughout my home. During the entire process Jon and his crew were nothing but congenial.  First-and-foremost, Jon's passion for iron working shows. On top of that, every interaction: in-person, texting, phone, during the job, Jon made it clear he wouldn't be satisfied until I was. My reinstallation had some challenging tight spots; one wall needed to be reinforced with a two-by-four, and painting/texturizing were required - yet, Jon was always positive, willing to do what was necessary, and did not begrudge the long day. My staircase is the pièce de résistance of my downstairs remodel, and I am so happy to have found Jon who was reliable, honest, and fair. read more

This review is, exclusively, for what I recently experienced of their customer service. I only wish I could review their actual work, but unfortunately, I won't get the chance...this time. I wanted to say, however, how much I appreciated how I was treated when I called. I contacted Emerick's yesterday to inquire about retaining them for my Corten project. The man who answered, who I took to be the owner, told me, almost apologetically, that they were currently booked out for the next 4-6 months. Now you're probably wondering, "Why would having a business owner tell you they CAN'T help you warrant a review, let alone, a 5-star one?" Well, I'll tell you. It was because he shared this information with me immediately and without a trace of rudeness and, in doing so, he demonstrated professionalism, courtesy and - most importantly - RESPECT for my damn time. And that last item, I'm sorry to report, seems to be sorely lacking in some of his peers' establishments. I know this because I was recently "ghosted" by another business whose owner, after an exchange of emails and ideas, apparently decided my project just wasn't worth his time. His shop - one that I'll be reviewing later - instead suddenly quoted me a blank price tag of $10,000, invited me to contact them if I had any questions - I had several - and then never again responded to my inquiries. Aside from being just rude AF, they wasted my time, which I really, really didn't appreciate. So, even though Emerick's can't help me this go-around, I still wish the owner and his employees success, good health and good fortune. And, yes, I'll definitely remember to come calling again in the future, should I have another metal project, because RESPECT still matters...to some of us anyway. read more

A portion of my wrought iron topper was vandalized, and I thought it was beyond repair. After checking on Yelp, I decided to give Jonny a call. After sending him photos, he assured me that he could repair the damage. He came on time and went to work. Didn't even get to a quote or service with this company as I was disrespected and insulted for absolutely no reason. Jonny asked for photos, I replied that I'm not on-site as I work for the owner and am not a direct employee of the company, and that I was asking for quotes and a site visit as I was unable to provide photos. Jonny replied: "If you were a good assistant, you'd make it happen. I used this company one year ago. Jon was nice and his team arrives on time. When Jon left the workers had friends come over to my house to visit them and told them to hurry to go fishing. They did an awful job on my gate and I was told that they would do my gate again. I called them a few times but every time the weather was not suitable for painting. I tried to text them and no one will respond. I'm not satisfied at all. Update: I was able to finally get in touch with the owner and he came out as promised and repainted my iron gate.
