    Escargot and Salmon over polenta
    Danielle G.

Walking thru this lovey neighborhood in the 9th Arr. on my first night in Paris. I found this local gem, quintessential Parisian cafe. People sitting outside drinking and smoking on this cold winter night, they were very busy. The waiter was so friendly and seating us immediately. I order their salmon over polenta and it just was wonderful, But barely could finish it, after first having the traditional escargot and bread omg so delicious. I highly recommend this cafe, great service and food, that isn't over priced.

The best Parasian cafe there is in Paris!! The food is pretty cheap considering its food quality and taste, but not Bouillon cheap. Very cozy and warm type atmosphere inside; the host and waiters were extremely helpful and friendly towards my friends and I. We both got the duck confit (our absolute favorites), les escargots, and crème brûlée. The duck confit was so crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. Ugh I can literally taste it while typing this up!! I've been to Paris 4 times and every time I've been there I've eaten at this place because it reminds me "home" (my international home) and literally has THE best French food. Definitely check out this place if you're in Paris!

Update: We decided to come back on our last night here. It's close our hotel, and the food is good. What a different experience, and not in a good way! We were promptly seated (don't need reservations here, which is nice), but were ignored for nearly a half an hour while locals who sat down after us were attended to. Perhaps they're not fond of tourists tonight? When we finally were able to place our order, we got a bowl of French onion soup, and two duck confits. As before, the food was delicious! Unfortunately, we didn't get to finish the soup though. It was taken before we were done. Literally while we were taking a bite, with the explanation that the waitress had already put our dinners in, so we "had" to be done. Seriously?? Would really liked to have finished that soup... After that, I just wanted to leave, so we finished up pretty quick. Not sure if I would come back again... Some of the best food for value we found in Paris, and one of the most pleasant dining experiences as well! We stopped in after a very long day, and we're both tired and hungry. We were promptly (and excellently!) taken care of by Luciana. After ordering our wine -- and getting an excellent recommendation -- we ordered the roasted chicken and the duck confit for dinner. They were both delicious! Moist meat, well seasoned, yummy potatoes. We also ordered a cheese plate. It was good as well. Luciana gave us multiple recommendations for dinner, drinks, and treats in different areas of town, and chatted with us for awhile. For the experience and food, I would definitely come back, and recommend.

This is my second time to Bo Man. It's just a few minutes walk from one of my fav hotels, Hotel Joyce. The 9th is a mellow area too. This is also the second time I've had the roast chicken with mashed potatoes. Is it me or does everything taste better in Paris? The chicken (10€) is amazing. And the pan juices with the mashed potatoes are delicious. Finished off with the molten chocolate cake. Cliche, I know. But last time I had the creme Brûlée which was also good. Enjoyed a glass Cote du Rhone (2€50). Really affordable and a much more authentic or neighborhood Paris feel than the touristy areas. Seconds walk from Saint George line. Dessert, dinner and wine €19.50. Friendly service too.

Nice place to chill with friends

The staff was all very friendly and inviting and were happy to recommend their favorite dishes to us. My wife ordered a French onion soup and one of their famously large salads, which are served in these big bowls. I decided to try the chef's special, which was a beef tenderloin a la rossini (truffle sauce and foie gras). I'm not typically a foie gras fan, but I figured since we're in Paris that I'd give it a shot. I'm very glad I did because it was absolutely delicious. The steak melded perfectly with the truffle sauce and fois gras. This was all served with potatoes au gratin, and blanched green beans. Everything was perfect. I also ordered two large beers. A Grimbergin blonde and a Kronenbourg ale. I love how both beers were served in their respective brand's glasses. Such a nice touch. For dessert, we ordered an Apple Tarte Tartin, upon a recommendation from one of the staff. It was light, sweet, and served with some ice cream and créme fraîce. This was such a great dinner all around. Great food, great vibes, which all lead to a great evening. Would definitely recommend!

Big disappointment this one. I bookmarked it based on all the positive reviews. Apparently I was…read moresupposed to order the big cheap salad with potatoes. It wasn't on the menu. For New Year's Eve they offered a special menu, 79 € per person. The host outside who convinced us to splurge for the special occasion said our kiddo wouldn't pay full price. Spoiler: that's not how it went. We were seated in back by the restrooms, with the sound of the hand-dryer serenading our meal. From what I could tell, apart from the staff, there wasn't a single French-speaking person in the whole place, a bad sign. For appetizers we had the escargots, which could have benefited from more garlic and butter, the foie gras, which was fine, and the smoked salmon, which was a generous portion, and very smokey. For my main, I ordered the duck in honey sauce, which would have been a good plate, served with salad, but for some reason they plated it with cold vegetables: green beans, bell pepper, and eggplant under congealing butter--Tasted like it was made ahead of time and they forgot to reheat it out of the fridge before scooping onto my plate. Total fail. My kiddo got the knuckle of lamb, which was fatty and gristly, although the mashed potatoes underneath were delicious, and my wife chose the fettuccine with shrimp and scallops, which were both overcooked and the scallops were crunchy, which was weird, served over way too much plain noodles. The desserts were good, but we paid over 240 € for three, with only one drink each, making it both the most expensive and also least delicious meal of our trip so far. Staff were friendly and attentive, and all addressed us in English, even though I'm fluent in French, which makes sense for a tourist trap. Would not recommend, unless maybe you just get the big cheap salad, seemingly that's what the 5-star reviews are for.

**EXCELLENT WINES AND SIMPLE RUSTIC FRENCH CUISINE**…read more Wonderfully friendly staff. Welcomed immediately with a glass of red wine. Very small restaurant. No tourists; only locals and repeat French customers. We sat outside. ORDERED: *FOIE GRAS House made and simply DIVINE on freshly toasted baguette bread. I wanted to take a bath in this. OMG! *DUCK CONFIT Beautiful leg served with scalloped potatoes. The meat could have been a bit more tender, but overall a good solid entree. *FRUIT TART Good, but not great. The pastry could have baked a bit longer. Loved the sweet plums though. We also ordered a bottle of their excellent Cabernet France for 17 euros. My darling didn't care for their espresso and I was not impressed with their version of a cappuccino. Dinner altogether was 73 euros. OTHER NOTES ============= Some of their staff members are from Le Mascote restaurant, but since the restaurant is currently closed; they cooked and served here. Same quality of food; cheaper in price. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the wine, foie gras, and any seafood dish. They have great daily specials.

The menu consists of typical French fare with your duck confit and your steak tartar etc. The wine is sold by volume and all priced at the same rate. Bulk of the other clientele consists of local repeat customers, as we saw a lot of them greeting the bar tender affectionately. For lunch, we had the duck confit and the Lyon sausages (one of the day's specials). The waiter recommended a strong red wine to go with the duck and a lighter, younger chilled red to go with the sausages. He hit it spot on in terms of the pairing. Both main courses were simple and delicious. We ended our meal with wonderful house-made chocolate mousse. Having stumbled onto this little place on the last day of our week long trip in Paris, we were pleasantly surprised with our wonderful experience at Le Colibri. Simple and authentic, this is definitely our favourite place to eat in Paris.
