The manager, lying to my uncle saying that my phone hit my head, that I was being loud and disrespectful.

Was ASSAULTED by the Asian server. Hitting me with his serving tray and with his hands and pushing me multiple times. Ended up with bodily harm. I used to love coming to this cafe (for years) but all this because I was OUTSIDE drinking a glass of wine and on FaceTime with my family during sad times. They told me I couldn't speak on the phone (since when?) but in French (I didn't understand at first) and when he came back and yelled at me I told him I didn't understand. He threatened to throw my phone into the park (apparently the manager). He took my wine away when I asked what the difference was between talking to someone across from me and someone on the phone (mind you, I'm sad so I'm not loud). Things escalated when I asked for their names. I asked the Asian server and insisted he gave me his name so I could complain to the owner. (I was still on FaceTime with my family who spoke French) and wanted to take a screenshot of the man. He then grabbed my phone, pushed me around and hit me multiple times. He also grabbed a tray and hit me too. In disbelief I went outside and tried getting a better snap so I could report him, and (in the photo I attached) he rushed towards me (I'm outside) and hit me harder with the tray. It left a big bump on my forehead. A few people were walking by and were kind enough to consol me. I had my uncle who speaks French come, and the manager (who saw what his colleague did) of course diminished the situation. Claiming I was speaking loudly. (I was not) And that I just hit myself with my phone (obvious lie, he saw his colleague hit me and told him to stop because they'd get in trouble) also, I was the only black person. Which could have been a factor to his discrimination. Overall I used to love this place, but will NEVER come here again and am taking legal action!

Wonderful, easy going dinner after a long day of traveling. We stumbled upon this restaurant after a day of exploring the city. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable speaking English, explaining dishes and ordering. I am happy to report we tried escargot for the first time during dinner here and they were great! I can't quite remember the pasta my fiancé ordered, I believe it had the word croquette, but it was delicious. We loved the chocolate cake as well but felt it was a bit pricey for being small.

Nice traditional cafe in Place des Vosges. Super slow service and expensive, but less that the other places around the Place.

Was in Paris for a week with my hubby and 2 little guys (ages 2 and 6) and often struggled to find a kid-friendly place for dinner that was also good for the adults (read: not McDonalds). Cafe Hugo was in our neighborhood and after seeing some reviews from fellow Yelpers we gave it a shot. As always, my Yelp peeps were right. Service is good with friendly wait staff who speak English well. The place is busy and loud enough that your kiddos can make their usual noise and not disturb anyone. Oh and let's not forget the food - it's excellent! We ordered steak which came perfectly cooked, as well as a shared bowl of French onion soup. For dessert, chocolate cake and crepes with Nutella. The chocolate cake isn't described as much more but it comes with a rich chocolatey sauce poured over the top, and it's so decadent. Whether you have kids in your party or not, I'd highly recommend Cafe Hugo if you're staying or hanging out in the Marais.

Love it! Sevice is friendly. Food is solid. They have fast wifi and take AMEX. The patio is large. Lots of individual areas to sit. If you have a party or want a private setting they have room for about 10-20 downstairs.

Touristy, but an excellent spot for a meal if you're visiting the Victor Hugo museum.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ Notre Dame Granny Smith Apple Confit - Was refreshing! I couldn't tell if this was a real apple or some fancy French creation made to look like one - that's how real it looked! The mousse and apple bits were cold & delicious and the chocolate shell was good, but not sure if it was worth the price at €7.5. + Pain Au Chocolat Cookie - Verrrry good chocolate chip cookie, chocolate croissant mashup. Only thing that we were missing was some good ol' milk! + Almond Croissant - Once again, delicious! Solid croissant and definitely a good grab and go candidate. = Citronnade - Was just OK. Lemonade that was on the watered down side, but was somewhat refreshing because I was dying of thirst. THE SERVICE ----------------------- - Employee who helped us with our order was friendly, but the cashier was a bit blah and not exactly the friendliest person, especially when we asked for extra utensils and napkins. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ - Smallish, tight interior that you can dine in at, but don't be surprised if the next table is sitting on top of you. + There are also 5 outdoor tables on the narrow street. - Entrance is tight too. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- + Even though this bakery is ranked highly on Tripadvisor, there was no crowd on the Monday morning that we swung by. Line moved superfast.

We came here for some coffee on a rainy afternoon, but were pleasantly surprised to see escargot on the menu too and figured we'd give it a shot. Coffee wise we got the vienna coffee which had chocolate inside. It was good, with a nice espresso flavor and a huge dollop of whipped cream on top. A nice pick me up for the day. The escargot on the other hand, was so fantastic. They were served all cute in their little shells on a tray, and bubbling when we first got them. The green sauce that they came with was fantastic, and the butter was also a great addition! This made for such a flavorful little bite - escargots taste like little chewy clams to me, nothing strange at all. It also came with a few pieces of baguette to soak up the yummy sauce. Service was friendly and the inside of the restaurant has such a nice vibe. I would definitely recommend this spot!
