Yesterday, while on the beach, I made it my best to do a tasting at Boardwalk Winery. The atmosphere and energy were on point! Brianna was so friendly and supper cool. She was vibrant and knowledgeable about the wines we tried. The tasting was inexpensive. You get to sample 7 wines for $6. They start from dry all the way to sweet! My favorite was Summer Nights (Black Mango). It's semi-dry. Honestly, all the wines had a great taste! I am not too big on sweet wines but the taste of them was truly pleasing! If you're a wine lover, I recommend stopping by and checking this place out. Not only will you enjoy the different wines, but you will definitely enjoy the host, Brianna. She was amazing! Let's get the reviews up for this one because Boardwalk Winery deserves some love! This was our second stop of the day at Broadway at the Beach, and it couldn't have been a better way to kick things off. The guy working behind the counter was super chill and personable -- he mentioned he had just started a few days ago, but you wouldn't have known it. He handled everything with ease and made the experience feel relaxed and fun. They have a nice variety of fruit wines, and we decided to do a tasting -- I think it was around $16 for eight pours, give or take. Money very well spent. Every pour had its own personality, from sweet and tropical to crisp and refreshing. And of course, like most wineries these days, they also offer wine slushies -- and yes, I absolutely got one. I went with the Mango Passionfruit, and it was downright delicious. If you're visiting Broadway at the Beach, make Boardwalk Winery one of your first stops. There's a lady that's always been there (Brianna might be her name). We always stop. Yesterday we experienced some rude guy pictured in others reviews. We waited for him to finish with another group, then filled out our tasting sheets for him to erase one of ours and let us know "I'm in charge here not you". Needless to say we walked out and won't be back unless the lady is there. He didn't check our ID and we got a free "shot" so I guess that was nice. read more

This was by far the BEST wine experience I've ever been to. (And I've been to a LOT) Ron was the GREATEST host you could ever want. The entertainment, stories music & the way he incorporates each person into the experience is terrific. The way he talks about the Walkers you could just feel the love! This little gem caught our attention with a sign that said "7 wine samples for $5" well I didn't want to lose any money on this so we walked on in. We were greeted by Ron the owner whose been making wine since he was 13 and was keeping his family tradition alive and well. We sampled or 7 apiece but Mr. Ron was so cool (and I worked in the angle that it was Baby's Bday)..... We sample the whole menu, got some souvenirs, and ordered some moonshine-wine slushies to go!!! needless to say we walked out faded. Definitely goin back on our next visit. read more

I've been 4 times and the staff has always been very been friendly and warm, especially Ron. His fun personality makes for a very welcoming and accepting atmosphere. I have a very diverse family and he has been a sweetheart to every last one of them. The frozen wines are perfect for relaxing on a hot day and walking around Broadway. read more

If you like sweet, fruity wines, you have to stop by here for wine tasting. They have lots of fun flavors like cranberry wine, blackberry wine, mango wine etc. Also, it only costs $5 to taste 7 wines! We also bought wine slushies to go, they have even have Riesling slushies! Loved visiting here! It's been since May that I last visited here and I can't remember the fine owner's name that works here. But I do recall him being quite pleasant and excited about his winery. I noticed this store wasn't added to Yelp so I educated him a little about the site and told him I would write a review because this cute winery deserved to be YELP'd about! He offered us about 4 tastings and they were all good. But what lured me in was the sign advertising the wine slushies ...I got excited!! I can't recall the price, but all I could think about was fun in a cute cup!! He had about 4 selections of the wine slush and I opted in for the suicide option (all flavors mixed)!! It was sooooo good!! The souvenir cup I purchased, the deal...bring it back for a discounted refill. I didn't have time to return but the deal is good anytime. The winery also offers clothing and all types of wine goodies and trinkets. I can't wait to return !! Do not waste your time. Stopped in during a jaunt around the entire Boardwalk area, which is actually very nice with many shops and eateries. The tasting offered is with wines made elsewhere. Much of the decoration in the place is for show - for example a wine fermenter that has no wine in it. We were provided plastic place mats with pictures and wash off markers to make our selections. Tacky but I suppose it keeps costs down. We paid for our tasting, $10 I believe, and were offered pours by a fellow who announced he was from upstate NY, coincidentally where I went to school. He was not familiar with any finger lake wines or growers. When our glasses were produced mine was filthy with lipstick on the rim. I pointed this out as pours commenced and was given another glass. The second glass was also dirty. I asked that another glass be provided and cleaned in front of me. This was done. The wines here are all sweet, typical of muscadet produced in SC. Strangely all the wines were brown in color. Very odd to us. When asked we were informed that the brown color was because the winemaker leaves the skins on the grapes when he makes them. Absurd, and further demonstrating that our pourer did not know what he was talking about. We did not like any of the wines. The color was off putting and the wines themselves tasted way too sweet and none had any discernible bouquet. Our pourer and dirty glassware did not help. We left. Nancy & Mark. read more

Stopped in for a second time after having a poor experience, hoping to improve my review after my first visit. Thinking it had to be better than before. I thought wrong. I walked in and was greeted by a gentleman almost right away so I thought, off to a good start. That was were the good ended. I chose to do a wine tasting. When handed the menu of wines I was a little taken back because just about every wine they offered could be tasted with four different levels of sweetness. When I asked they guy about about it, he snapped back with that's your preference. Ok I guess that's a pretty understandable. I then asked which wines were better at which level of sweetness. I was then told because it's fruit wine to just get everything sweet. At this point I could sense a bit of attitude so I just stopped asking questions. The thing that really ruined it for me was before I even decided on what I was getting he started pouring the wine and was pushing me to finish choosing. If you are in a customer service/ sales position you want to make the person you are dealing with to enjoy their experience so that they will then return or purchase you product. The unprofessionalism I dealt with will ensure I never go back or recommend this place to anyone, ever. read more

I visited both of these wine stores, this one in broadway at the beach and the one at barefoot landing. So initially I intended to bring a bottle of wine from home to drink at the hotel, but let me tell you, I'm so glad i forgot that bottle! I stopped here to grab a bottle and tried the cranberry one. I cracked it open at the hotel and was instantly in love! The only issue we had at this location was that they couldn't ring us up because their cash register was not working so they could only take cash. The lady was very nice and let us know right away. We ended up just giving her the change from our cash as a tip. They offer tastings at both locations, 7 wine tastings for $4. They also have wine slushies for sale. read more

Stopped in for a quick tasting and enjoyed the selection. They have a good range of dry to sweet and also fortified wines. The manager was working alone and gave us a nice overview of their wines. My second time here and I love it. Did the wine tasting 7 samples for $4 and wakes out with a sangria slushee and three bottles of wine. We came across this winery on the broadway at the beach it looked fun because we come from a party of the country where there are a lot of winery's and wanted to try something new. We were surprised of how good the prices were but later found that were not worth the service or quality of wine. Right after being treated the male employee snapped at us to take our glass off the counter so we apologized. Also he was not very clear about what wines were available and insulted us when we asked to try something unavailable. We were rushed to finish our tasting with out any explanation of how the wines were produced. Lots of eye rolling and rude gestures were given to us I would never return or recommend Coming if you want to enjoy wine. Zero star. read more

I can't comment on the quality or taste of the wine as we were never able to taste any of it. There were two women working the tasting and both were finishing up with tastings. We were asked to wait until they finished which we were completely fine with. Walked in the first day the lady attending was very nice profesional and offered suggestions, walked in the next day to actually buy several bottles of wine and a slushy and the dude behind the counter was rude, unprofessional said he couldn't mix the slushy sample and wasn't friendly at all. To call this a winery is a disgrace to the wine industry. The man who was there had the personality of a fly. Asked for a list of wines and he told us the bottles on the bar were the list. Asked if they were sweet, etc. told us to read the cork. Should have left after that but gave him the benefit of the doubt. One sip(I had what the bottle said was a Sangiovese and my husband had what the bottle said Riesling) and I gasped. My husband said he had syphoned gas that tasted better. We hightailed it out of there and went to Hard Rock Cafe and immediately ordered 2 beers to wash the taste of that formaldehyde out of our mouths. Bad attitude and zero personality. We went in to do a tasting and my friend only had a valid passport and no state issued ID and was denied to drink. My bad review is not about this directly but the very dismissive and rude nature the guy had when we nicely asked why a passport wasn't a good enough identification to prove age (and we were also both Americans). He said "I'm not going to spend the time to look up the rules for you to spend $5 and it so rarely happens that people don't have a second ID (drivers license or ID)". I don't deny his right to deny service for any reason. He may have done the right thing but gave us a poor reaction and an attitude which essentially was "your problem, not mine" and at no point did we argue that he should break any rule only requested why the rule was in place. He not only lost our business that day for alcohol but also lost my business for alcohol and non-alcohol related items until the end of time. Incidentally, he didn't even get to looking at my ID after my friend was denied... Because I did have a drivers license and was planning to still purchase something for myself. Avoid this place. This place is terrible! I haven't given many 1 star reviews, but it's a must in this case because the service is lacking in many areas. On my first visit, the associate working the counter just had no knowledge about any of the wines. She couldn't answer any questions. She just said she didn't know, she was just there to pour the wine. I thought that was bad. My most recent visit takes the cake for this. In my opinion, there are very few things worse than being rude. The gentleman working the counter on this visit (I use the term gentleman very loosely because he was anything but that!) was so rude. It was almost like we were an inconvenience for even stopping in to taste some wines. First of all his answers to our questions came off as very self-centered, like we were supposed to know everything about every wine we were inquiring about as we chose those we wanted to try. Then he rushed us through the tasting. Usually they'll go through your list and pour each. This time he kept asking what we had left like he didn't have the time of day. Overall his customer service skills were awful and it was just plain rude how he spoke. Oh and some of the wines were terrible. I'm not sure I'll go back if I'm in the area. There's another little winery shop that seemed like a much better option. I think I'll give my business elsewhere. read more
