The owner made such an impression the first time we always come back to laugh and sample. Her name is Anna from Ukraine, and is quick to tell you "I know what you like". We always joke about it, she is a bit pushy in her sales technique but we can overlook. It's $12 per person for tasting of 5 bottles. She was vibrant and knowledgeable about the wines we tried. The tasting was inexpensive. You get to sample 7 wines for $6. They start from dry all the way to sweet! My favorite was Summer Nights (Black Mango). It's semi-dry. Honestly, all the wines had a great taste! I am not too big on sweet wines but the taste of them was truly pleasing! The guy working behind the counter was super chill and personable -- he mentioned he had just started a few days ago, but you wouldn't have known it. He handled everything with ease and made the experience feel relaxed and fun. They have a nice variety of fruit wines, and we decided to do a tasting -- I think it was around $16 for eight pours, give or take. Money very well spent. Every pour had its own personality, from sweet and tropical to crisp and refreshing. And of course, like most wineries these days, they also offer wine slushies -- and yes, I absolutely got one. I went with the Mango Passionfruit, and it was downright delicious. If you're visiting Broadway at the Beach, make Boardwalk Winery one of your first stops. Meeting married co-owners Megan & Rich and learning of their career backgrounds and approach to opening this business (approximately 18 months ago), it is clear that they were destined to succeed. We were greeted by a charming, welcoming gal, who we came to learn was the female vocalist of the musical duo for the evening. I thought perhaps she might be on staff, which was partially the case. Nevertheless, she was so warm & friendly, making us feel entirely welcome before we even decided where we chose to sit. Having spoken to Megan a couple days prior to make our reservation and learn basic information about Wine Therapy, I knew we'd be ordering wines to taste but also looking forward to the charcuterie board, which was filled with all the selections my husband and I enjoy: Genoa salami, prociutto, Sopresatta, almonds, figs, chocolate-covered minced raisins, apricots...Mmmmm...so great!! I don't know if this list is complete, misspelled, etc, but it was so very good and there was enough for us to take home as a tiny snack for the next day. It is disappointing to add that our attempt to add hummus dip to our initial order was unsuccessful. The same was also true for dessert. Because Megan & Rich had been away up until opening for the evening, they admitted being behind in maintaining their "back-of-the-house" orders. Kudos for her honesty and adding an extra serving of chocolate covered raisins. Wise woman you are, Megan...little things make a big difference--in business and in life! We enjoyed the evening, the music (not too loud but pleasantly audible), the wine (my husband had a "flight", I had a wine slushy...both delish) and the welcoming atmosphere. The winery has a large property with plenty of space to explore, including what appears to be a small farm with chickens and pigs. On a warm day, the outdoor seating areas with games would likely make for a lovely experience. However, when it came to the wine tasting, the samples were served in plastic cups, which some may actually prefer. But for us, it took away from the overall experience. And most importantly, the wines themselves just didn't impress our palates. We tried a variety of their offerings, but nothing really stood out or compelled us to purchase a bottle to take home. It's a shame, because the setting is really quite nice. But at the end of the day, the wine is the most important factor, and this winery missed the mark for us on that front. If you're in the area and want to spend some time outdoors in a charming environment, it could still be worth a visit. But I wouldn't go out of your way, especially if you're a serious wine enthusiast.
