The serving staff were so much fun and kind as well, shout out Carlos and his partner! The trees weren't too colorful yet but still beautiful scenery. The seats were not super comfortable but it's the price you pay for an authentic experience. The tables were surprisingly large. The train was very warm but felt better once we got moving. I recommend getting seats that are odd numbers because you'll be closer to the lake. The train goes down and back but does not turn around so if you get the lake side you'll get it on the way out and back. Also if you get table 1 you'll be served first!

I checked the tour online videos, and I still wasn't sure where this is taking us, but I didn't realize until we were riding the railroad what it was all about. All I can say, is it was unforgettable, it was beautiful, and it was something I would do again when it is Summer, even Winter when it is covered with winter wonderland!

Yes, you do travel the same roads all night but there's very good reason for that and the guides explained it to us. Maybe I'd feel differently about that if our tour hadn't been successful? However, I know they can't guarantee sightings and the reasoning for traveling the same areas made sense to me. We were able to see twins!! It was so cool, especially as a couple from the far south being tourists in the northern US for the first time! I also didn't feel like there was much else to do in the area at this time of night so you might as well go moose tracking! Make sure that you're there at the time they tell you to be for check in. At check in, you receive a card and that determines the order in which you board the bus. So, if you care about choosing your seat, you'll want to be there on time for a good boarding spot.

There was a stop at a convenience store in the middle. Convenience store was really nice (probably the highlight of the trip honestly) but they kept telling us over and over to thank the convenience store for staying open for us. Of course we were thankful but come on, they made out too since most of us bought something there and that's where the bus got its gas. Not only that, but if there wasn't a stop mid-way, we never would have took the tour. So why don't YOU thank the convenience store for staying open for YOUR tour? Also, maybe tell everyone once, not over and over like we are children??? We never saw any moose and although they state they have a 90% success rate (highly doubt that) and there's a chance you won't see any, in my opinion, they (as a business) should have offered us something. It didn't have to be money. It could have been a 50% off ticket for another tour or anything really. Think of it this way, we'll never be back. We live in MA and go to the White Mountains often. Someone asks us...we say...oh no, don't do that tour. Boom...you lost even more business. Not my problem but as a business, you might want to think through your policy's. There's not a person in the world who wants to spend $95 per couple to go on a tour of the same two or three streets for 3 1/2 hours and see nothing! The kicker was at the end when they had the gall to ask for a tip and put a flashing red sign that says something like, no tip is too big. Are you even kidding me???? Nice guys but maybe should think about their business model. Very important to know, you are NOT guaranteed to even be able to sit with your person or people you go with. Ridiculous! Also, supposedly doing this for years (I forget the exact amount but 30 plus comes to mind), and you don't know when the moose will come out (type of conditions) or do a little drive by before the tour? If we saw a moose, I'd feel the same way but at least I'd feel like I got something for my money. Meh...wasn't impressed. Don't waste your money and just go do the drive yourself. There's lots of maps on where to see moose in the area. We would have done this as well but thought we'd have better luck with the so called "experts"

There is a (free) train museum on the grounds that has many interesting artifacts and a working model train. There is also a diner that has snacks available for purchase. The best part of Silver Lake Railroad is that it operates on donation only...so it is very affordable for a family to enjoy this excursion. We had a great time and are definitely coming back next fall!

Mountain Pines Campground is a cute little campground. There are about 20 campsites and each…read morecampsite can fit about 2-3 tents. Each site also have a picnic table and fire pit. We stayed at campsites 18 and 19 and it was along the Baker River. They have free shower and toilet facilities, but only one shower and toilet per gender. They turn off their showers from 11pm to 7am so plan accordingly! There is also a water spout in the middle of the campground. WiFi is also available close to the check-in building. It's $10 per person, per night. Make sure to know your campsite number ahead of time. If you arrive late at night, they do not leave any notes or anything telling you where your campsite is. Also, ringing the bell does not help after hours. It's located near the side of the road so it can get annoying when cars drive past in the middle of the night. However, I don't mind staying here again. The folks here are nice. Campground is clean. It's also close to the Common Cafe and Tavern and the crags.

We were within a few hundred feet of the store, restaurant, pool, mini golf, and sport courts. Our cabin felt new-ish, it was clean, and the A/C was nice. There were tons of kids running around, riding bikes, and roughhousing, so I'd only recommend Jellystone for families. While I wouldn't do all my grocery shopping there, the general store was good--it sold essentials and souvenirs. I thought the overall experience was fun, smooth, and clean.

We have had two campers have major repairs done by Mike Jr. No major problems with the quality (except attention to details. . .) but, unless you want to be given empty promises and poor follow up, as well as frustration re: how long it takes to get the work completed, I suggest you find somewhere else to get work done on your camper. It was more than A YEAR from when the damage occurred to when the repairs were close to being completed - and when I called him out on it and expressed my frustration, I was met with hostility and anger from him. WE ended up contacting the manufacturer and getting the last piece shipped to us and installing it ourselves. So, my recommendation is IF YOU HAVE to go there for repairs, have it IN WRITING a timeline by which the work will be done and the consequences (to them) that will happen if the deadline is not met. Make our mistake your warning.

I've camped here a few times and there is so much to like about this campground…read more In the past we've really enjoyed the option to do things on the pond- we've put our inflatable kayak on it and paddled around for a lazy afternoon. Watching people put paddleboards on the water too definitely seems like fun too! The location is great for easy access to the hikes up Osceola and Tecumseh. Waterville Valley and Lincoln are both very close as well so there has been plenty of things for us to do and places to explore. We've made advanced reservations but also had luck with grabbing a first come first serve site by heading up on a Friday morning. But usually the campground is pretty busy so we wouldn't chance getting a first come first serve spot if we were coming in on a Saturday. Even though it can be busy, most groups are pretty good about keeping noise down after dark but its not uncommon to wake up a few times overnight or super early in the morning from a car door slamming or a car beeping. The A sites are pretty remote and much quieter than the other sites. Lately, we've been more enamored by the D sites due to their central location. We were disappointed at our most recent visit that most of the toilets were out of order and that there was only 1 working shower in the entire campground. Hopefully they'll fix this soon since it is a really nice option to have while camping.
