Stopped for lunch after our Enchanted Rock hike and found the perfect spot in Fredericksburg! We had the Impossible Burger, chicken wings, and a salad with their house-made jalapeño ranch, everything was delicious, but that dressing really stood out. So good! We also tried an Angry Orchard and a local beer. The vibe was super chill, and it turns out they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes it a great weekend hangout. The only place that was open late for lunch when I stopped here to charge my car on the way to Austin. It was packed with merry men drinking beers & watching the game and they gave us a great welcome. It was an instant love with the place because the entire area was so old reeking with so much history and they had preserved it for 100s of years. Kudos to that. Listen. If you're looking for a chill place to have a drink or two and grab some bar food, this place is IT! Ice cold drinks, good food, and the crowd and bartenders (our was hilarious) are super friendly. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed like we were Norm from Cheers. Glad I decided to stop here after working in the area. It was fairly empty when I came in for a late lunch. Only other people there were what I assume to be the owner and some of his friends. They were very nice and welcoming. Got an ice cold beer and some great food, the cheesesteak sliders were absolutely delicious, I didn't leave a bite behind. Mac and cheese was nothing special but you can't really go wrong with it. The extra cheese on top just happens to be the way I eat Mac and cheese at home. Most rude wait staff I have ever encountered and ended up leaving after ordering drinks because of her. We were treated so awful, cut off, scoffed at, made rude faces at us, interrupted, disregarded, and had multiple eye rolls. Please keep in mind this was for basic things such as asking if there was a drink menu, asking what beers were on draft, and asking for a food menu. She also audibly scoffed, scowled, and rolled her eyes when we said we would be on 3 split checks for a total of 6 people. We paid for our drinks and went next door to Gio's Italian food and it was a night and day difference. They were sweet and lovely. They were compassionate and you could tell all of them absolutely loved being there. The food there was AMAZING too. We felt like a nuisance to Joe's. I HATE posting negative reviews, especially in small towns. But given that we picked here because of the good reviews I felt it was only fair to share our experience because it was so disheartening. We tried to stick it out but at EVERY encounter she was so freaking rude. She actually shoved a hand in my face when she asked for drinks and I asked for waters for me and my husband, and then said "we will start over there". Just everything was so disrespectful. While we were walking out some of the staff could be hearing said " what happened ? what did they order? why are they leaving?" So seemingly some of they may have cared but JEEZE our service was the worst. Also, we were one of 3 tables so it wasn't a rush or anything which would explain it away. read more

The food was good but the service was abysmal. One other table and two people at the bar and yet we waited 30 minutes to place a drink order and get a menu. Maybe they need to hire more help but we had to chase down our waitress every time We needed her. Possibly better management would help. Joe's was one of a very few Llano restaurants open on the day of the eclipse so we kinda had to stop in. They had a super-limited menu (burgers, chips, soda) but when I asked the waitress if they has the Impossible Burger that was on their usual menu she said, "Sure, we can do that for ya!" Quite possibly one of the the only places in Texas where this vegetarian could get a righteous burger! It's down-home, great staff, friendly meeting place that has pool tables on a lower level, entertainment on one upper side level and the Ice Cream Shop with food on another side that also had great unique gifts. This place has an old town charm. Was seated and placed order. We ordered chicken tenders with tater tots. The service seemed short staffed. So wasn't that good but also could of been short handed. Food took 30 mins and it wasn't busy. They charged $10 for 3 chicken tenders and tater tots. They definitely should probably add another for that price. It was a child portion. The bathrooms also have a piece of cloth old curtain as stalls. Definitely should be updating the menu and the bathrooms. Might try again. read more

We were visiting Llano this afternoon for an appointment and decided to try out "Joe's Bar". We arrived at 11:00 am on the dot, the doors were locked so I called, asked if they were open and they opened the doors. At first appearance it seemed to be a neat "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant, we ordered an appetizer and two burgers, we tipped 20% when paying hoping it would be a wonderful experience. While waiting we discussed bringing our large family back one evening/weekend. It became 11:35 pm and two locals had come in about 20 minutes after us (11:20am) and ordered the same appetizer as us and they're appetizer was delivered. At this time, I took our receipt (*see photo) to the counter to address this with the (waitress/cashier). I stood in line behind a gentleman, when I heard an order bell. I looked into the order window and saw two burgers waiting to be taken to a table. Once the gentleman went to walk away, I approached the counter and the (cashier/waitress) (named AMY) said "I have an order to take out" and begin walking away from me. I kindly said, "I understand, I believe that is our food, that is what I am hear to speak with you about". She continued to walk away. (Wonderful customer service ). I followed her to the order window and spoke with her and the lady who had placed our food into the window. I expressed my concern about our appetizer not coming out, others being served the same appetizer coming in after us but being served prior to us, and explained we now had 22 minutes to get to our appointment across town. (It was now 11:38 am) The woman behind the food counter was extremely apologetic and told me she would have our appetizer out immediately. Our appetizer arrived at 11:40 am. We had to pack up all of our food and take it to go so we were not late for our appointment. When leaving I asked the (cashier/waitress) at the front counter what her name was and she replied AMY. I asked her what the owners name was and she replied KIM and immediately followed it with "SHE'S MY MOM, SHE WON'T FIRE ME" and walked off before I could even comprehend what she just said. Please spare your children and family from experiencing this negativity, absurd, rude and immature behavior. This is completely unacceptable. I have worked in customer service for 15 years and I am appalled, but reading other reviews, sadly I'm not terribly surprised. Save your money, spend your money with an establishment where you are treated with respect. We will never be back and I pray you don't make the same mistake we do. The entitlement and disrespect in this establishment is one I've never witnessed before. Until they have a wake up call and realize that hard work, respect, and customer service is what makes a business and brings customers back. Wow! Delicious bar grilled food! We had the BLT on Texas Toast and the mushroom burger. Both were sooo delicious. When we got here the waitresses was working the front bar and we sat down to look at the menu on the chalkboard. I got up to ask her how This works bc we were passing through. She said upfront she was working alone with one cook and one other person on the other side working the ice cream counter. We had the heads up! So that being said we waited patiently like everyone else bc it took about 45 minutes to get our food. It was worth the wait and they are super nice in here! I would give 5 stars but it took a minute. Which my eyes were open about. If you have time eat here and check out the old building it's old and cool! read more

After reading the review left by Patrick M. that described Joe's Bar & Grill as a "wretched bar FULL OF HATRED!" where he was called an "ASSHOLE", my buddy and I immediate knew we had to check this place out. Our experience was nothing like Patrick's and we were not surprised. Even though we too were not from Llano, we couldn't find any hate and neither of us were called assholes.
