Mark Erstling of Boater's Landing (in green) explaining features on a Key West 189 FS
    Will B.

What a fantastic, let me say again and shout FANTASTIC dealership. In honor of "people, process and product" this dealership is the epitome of professional people, a fair process (esp for out-of-towners new to the area), and product. People first: I was helping my brother-in-law (from SC) shop for a boat. I found Boater's Landing by chance using Boat Trader to come look at used boats for sale (a Trophy with a trolling motor in addition to the main engine, actually a pretty nice used boat but the owner was a little "too proud" of his nicely equipped boat). I had also Googled "Key West" unaware at the time that the boats are made in SC (more on the "product" later). Mark came up to us as we were looking at the used Bayliner Trophy and asked my brother-in-law (B-i-L) what he was looking for. Upon learning the requirements, Mark immediately said "you're looking at the wrong boat" and took us to another boat that was EXACTLY what my brother-in-law wanted. I was immediately impressed that someone could LISTEN to a customers "requirements" and detect the tone of feature emphasis in such a thorough manner. This used boat was fairly priced but ....a little too old. So my B-i-L asked to see what a new boat would look like in comparison. Now for the SECOND time in a row, Mark took us to EXACTLY what my B-i-L wanted. Voila.....behold the Key West 189 FS (FS for Family Sport). PROCESS: When it came time to discuss price and outfitting, Mark explained that the dealership "does not fool around" and that "we start out right" right off the bat. Sure enough, the price quoted (we'd already shopped at few other competitors and knew their pricing style) was extremely fair. Even after my B-i-L sealed the deal, I kept double checking prices and deals online and sure enough, we had been treated VERY FAIRLY. Let me hasten to add that if you are becoming a local boater in the MARVELOUS area of Fort Myers (Sanibel Island, Boca Grande Pass, wow...what a selection of waters to fish in for a "bay boat"), then you WANT a dealer that makes a fair profit so they can stay in business and keep GOOD PEOPLE. Thus, Boater's Landing has a fantastic shop and a very dedicated marine engine repairman (Peter) who like myself is retired military (him USAF, me USN). Peter was effusive as he bragged about his dealership and the high quality of the Key West boats and their Yamaha outboards. Because my B-i-L was going to store the boat in a boat lift on Pine Island, Boater's Landing would deliver the boat to his dock (there is a convenient boat ramp very close by) and come get it for maintenance and repair whenever needed. WHAT A DEAL: first pickup free and then $100 thereafter for a "there and back" pick up and redelivery. My B-i-L has operated heavy equipment professionally and values the merit of routine periodic maintenance and so this service saved him the expense of buying a trailer and the trouble of storing it empty. PRODUCT: We were delighted to discover that Key West is made in SC (at which everyone in Charleston knows is the place where the Ashley and Cooper Rivers JOIN to form the Atlantic Ocean) and their CEO, I say again THEIR CEO, has several YouTube videos showing off how they make the Key West (made in SC....go figure...it's the DESTINATIONS that drive us seaward, not the point of departure). Seriously people, check out those videos to watch professional craftsmen build a quality boat from start to finish. I hope I am able to post some pictures along with this review because I really want to demonstrate the credibility of this review. I am NOT related to anyone at Boater's Landing and this is a real experience (circa early June 2016). None other than John Paul Jones ("father of the Navy") taught us that "no meritorious act" should pass without verbal reward and Boater's Landing has EARNED high praise.

worst experience I have ever encountered stored my boat…read morehere in September 2025 1st: I paid for a full detail $791.00 have to use their detail company or they charge 20% fee for you to get your own detail service, asked them to call me about half an hour before it was completed so I could come and inspect it before they stored it away. received a call informing me that it's all done and they were putting it back in place (storage rack) came the following Sunday to take my boat out and the detailing was not done properly, particulars of shells were in the floor, storage areas never clwaned, garbage still in the trash cans. terribly dirty. They said oh my goodness don't worry about it will get it recleaned. they did that thank God. 3 weeks later I take my boat out on Sunday return to the marina and che back in to have it cleaned up and put back on the storage rack, I get a call on Friday from the dock master (Che) asking me "what I was going to do with my boat? I said what do you mean, he said "it's been sitting in the water since Sunday" they had neglected to take it out of the water! they said "oh our mistake, we'll get the bottom cleaned up from it sitting in the water". I came back to the Marina to see if they had actually done this and guess what, another terrible job! they said oh sorry we're going to get it cleaned again! which they did luckily. last straw was a week later I came on Sunday to take it out, and theres dirty boot prints from the strain to the bow! Total disregard how they take care of your property. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND KEEPING YOUR BOAT HERE! Obviously management could care less how their employees treat your property

These guys are the guys to go to! I have worked closely with Joe Davis and Ray Jahn on every sale and always look forward to seeing them and make a point just to stop and say hi because they're just great people! The service department is full of great guys with awesome knowledge. Honest and fair. Best around. You're making a good decision to deal with Fish tale boats in fort Myers

If you ever think about buying a boat from Fish Tale in Fort Myers, please think again!…read more Especially, if Joe Davis is going to be your sale man "RUN". Run as fast out of there as you can. Joe Davis, he is a con artist and Ray Jahn is a liar. I do believe that they all work as a team here. Its really sad that they have such a nice place to have such horrible customer service. The long version is below: My wife and I walked in there 2 months ago to look at there use inventory and the minutes they knew this, NO ONE want to help us. As if we were bothering them. The one sale man who sit in the front on the left as you entering the dealer wanted to send us else where! After we were there for a solid 15 minutes and being passed on to a few sale man, we were helped by JOE DAVIS. We made a deal on a used Grady White and were set up for a sea trial. JOE DAVIS, showed up an hour and 20 minutes late for 1st impression. If I did not like the Grady White as much as I did, I could had walked from that deal already. On the day I came by to pick up the boat with my brand new trailer, Joe Davis was a spotter on port side for the forklift guy. The gentleman who operated the forklift had set my new purchased boat on the trailer based on his direction and scratched the hell out of the keel ( 4 inches long with a 1/2 inch deep in the fiberglass). People make mistakes and I get it. I kept cool and did not even show any frustration at all because I felt really bad for what just happened. The forklift guy offered to get my boat keel fixed and was very apologetic while Joe Davis was just standing not saying a word and act like as if it was the forklift guy's fault. Since Chris ( the fiberglass man) is going to fix my gel coat, I recalled asking them mix up some extra gel coat and fix My other scratches on the back of the boat for a fee. Joe Davis exact word was " Hey, don't worry about it, I will take care all of it for you"! I got the impression that he felt bad for what had happened and he would do this as a return for his screwups. One week later, I was told my boat was ready for pickup. I came by to pick up my boat and found that the gel coat on the keel was awful and non of other scratches were fixed. As if Joe himself had just mixed up a batch of gel coat and slapped it in there and called it done. I showed him the sloppy gel coat job and also mentioned about the unfinished repairs on other scratches. Joe Davis was disbelieve of all the things We found and promised for a 2nd time that it will be done by next week. Prior to this Grady White deal, I brought my old boat (185 Mako CC) in for them to sell on a consignment. I also ask to have them install a keel guard for me using my keel guard that I brought in. I recalled asking Joe Davis what was their procedure on consignment sale and he told me that he will charge 10% of the purchase price and there was no other fees! Another week went by and it's still not finished due to their busy schedule. The following Thursday I was told the boat is ready for pickup. Upon a rival, I was told to pay my bill and on that bill, I was charged $100 for the keel guard installation and $150 for a compression test! When I asked him about the unknown charged for the compression test, he was very rude about it with a temper tantrum. He went on about a list of things that he had been doing for me as a favor and that he was too tired doing things for me for free. Further more, he stated that if I can't even pay $150 bucks for the compression test then I can just forget it and take my boat else where. I asked him what did he do for me for free and what favors that he claimed he was too tired of do for me? He could not give me any straight answer on any of it. Too bad Google limits on characters or I would tell my long version! Ray Jahn (GM), he is a liar and I think they are all related some how to one another here. So they do work together as a crooked team. If you are not spending lots of money here then you are a bother to them. $60,000 was not good enough to them.

Our boat was damaged in IAN so i took it to Walkers for repair of Gelcoat, powdercoat and electronics connections. The repairs were supposedly completed 6 weeks later. I showed up late in the day to pick up the boat by water. The boat was absolutely filthy even though I was told it was washed. The electronics were not repaired, the powder coat repairs were further gouged and scuffed by the "cleaning" crew. I reached out to Kim the service manager with no replies. I then spoke with management who assured me they would come to my home for the repairs which never happened. I was forced to hire another company at my cost.
