I went for a solo lunch date with a book on a warm summer day. This local café is cute and full of cozy vibes--I'm already looking forward to returning once the weather cools. While the interior nails the boathouse look, I chose to sit on the garden patio and enjoy my meal with a pondside view. I ordered the chicken caprese panini, which comes with chips and pickles. It was delicious--the pesto and mozzarella tasted especially fresh. I also had an iced caramel coffee, made with La Colombe coffee (always a plus!). Really great local cafe, I am a coffee person, they serve their coffees hot and iced. Food offerings are standard fare, some pressed sandwiches and pastries. Randomly found this place when I searched for coffee while at a nearby park (Kingsland Park). This cafe was literally in the middle of a park. What an awesome location! After getting your goodies, you can sit inside or outside by the water or even walk around the park. **In a rush? Skip to the end for my tips.** They have drinks, various coffee drinks, ice cream, savory food, and baked goods. There's something for everyone. I got an iced latte with a sugar free caramel flavor shot and it was refreshing and delicious. Then, I enjoyed the nice weather and sunshine in the outdoor seating area with a book with my dog. The previous Yelp review I read stated that they gave out dog biscuits, but none was offered. :( Now, I have a place to come to when the weather is nice - for a sweet treat and beautiful views. If you are contemplating about stopping by, I recommend that you do! Tips: -There's plenty of parking! -If it's your first time coming here, it is a bit confusing because you are driving into a park, but the road will eventually bring you to the cafe. -There are 2 entrances. I liked the wine list by the glasses, prices for everything were very reasonable! A++ little cafe! Amazing location on the lake in this little park, tons of seating including a banquette with outlets. There is also some parking outside and outdoor seating on a porch along the water side. I had an iced latte that hit the spot on this über hot day. Prices aren't horrible either and they have a nice food menu, too. Staff are so kind and welcoming! Great spot to sit and work for a bit. This place is located in the middle of the gorgeous park and attracts a lot of customers, however the owner has no qualms about kicking you out if he sees you bringing your own water with you. I ve bought in that place thousands of times, and he knows im his customer but instead of greeting me tonight, he ran to me to remind that I cant bring my water with me. Funny I wanted to get a "kind" bar there but they never have it in stock. So basically I have to force myself to buy junk I cant eat (the selection is very limited) so I can only use their chair. Left totally disgusted by the lack of hospitality and any common business sense. read more

Really cute spot to sit with your dog. Park is very nice and peaceful. Only thing was the service was a bit slow. It was a Sunday and they had a few customers so the hot food took awhile. We ordered quesadillas which were good. We also ordered two iced chai lattes and they brought us iced coffee and when I questioned the server she said they were out of chai and the counter help should ache told us that. We weren't offered something else either. Kind of strange but the staff was nice and I felt bad. They were doing the best they could. Perhaps the manager should help out when it gets busy. read more

It's a peaceful spot that's in the middle of the park, very relaxing and spacious. There's plenty of seating outside with giant umbrellas to each table. You can seat right in front of the lake, people are fishing next you. I ordered an Iced Chai tea latte, it was delicious. Food was okay, I feel like it's overpriced and I wouldn't order food from here again. One of the staff walked out while it was busy, the poor girl left behind kind of panicked that she was by herself. My food took more than 20 minutes, but it was understandable because she was taking over the register and making food at the same time. She was very nice and tried her best. It wasn't that stressful since I could enjoy the weather and the scenery, but it's kind of unacceptable to wait this long for two sandwiches at a cafe. The server/barista/cashier girl had to work by herself for like an hour and I felt bad for ordering anything at that point. Many coffee/tea options, ice cream, as well as sandwiches and paninis. All of the food/drinks are reasonably priced. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, right by the water. I made my first trip to the new cafe tonight. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The cafe offers a selection of coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and ice cream. On as lovely a night is it was, I wanted ice cream. They had about 8 or 10 flavors of hard scoop. I got two scoops of sweet and salty caramel. The scoops were large and the ice cream was flavorful. I also got a medium (20 oz I'm guessing) iced coffee. The prices are very reasonable. All told the ice cream and iced coffee was under $5. The coffee itself was $1.75. Much cheaper than small iced coffees at any chain. The setting can't be beat. Sitting by the brook on a nice summer night enjoying coffee and ice cream was great. Even if there isn't a seat on the patio, there is plenty of seating in the park. It was great to see that structure turned into a business that enhances the park and the neighborhood. The Boathouse Cafe is my all time favorite cafe in New Jersey. Last November, my mom and sister threw me a beautiful bridal shower there and it was beyond amazing! The cozy ambiance of the cafe with that great view of the pond and the park made the evening absolutely beautiful and a memorable one. The staff was very helpful and cooperative, they helped out with everything from the setup, to decorating the cafe to serving the food. They allowed my sister to decorate the place and weren't too fussy about anything.They even let them borrow their manzanita trees and step and repeat banner for the event!! I am so glad we had my shower over there it was exactly as I imagined. And, I am so thankful to the staff of the Boathouse cafe for making my bridal shower such a memorable one.
