Nearly every cultural cuisine on Earth lays claim to some kind of pancake, made from a liquid batter on a hot, flat surface. Crêpes are an ultra-thin pancake common in France that can be made sweet or savory, typically rolled or folded with a variety of fillings from jam or Nutella to ham and cheese or fruits. They can be eaten for breakfast, dinner, brunch, dessert, or even a snack. Situated on Riverside Avenue in Lyndhurst, this cozy, simple hidden gem establishment offers an array of healthy options on their diverse menu, to which my partner and I returned after 8 years. Upon entering 3rd Wave Cafe, we were able to get a booth along the wall in an upbeat, casual vibe as the music was playing throughout. We decided on the Tropical Crêpe and Avocado BLT Wrap. I started with a French iced coffee that was really strong and served in a glass mug. The crêpe was fluffy, and the texture was great. I could tell all the fruit in it was fresh because it was sweet. The crepe was decorated nicely with a Nutella drizzle and whipped cream dollops that made it visually pleasing. The food, on top of being good-tasting, had a great presentation. The price was reasonable and the portion a healthy size. The service was friendly and not rushed; our server was Am. We left feeling satisfied and content, and we can recommend returning to explore other menu items. read more

Love this cafe. The food selections are fantastic and nutritious. My first time I've visited this cafe I tried their crepes which were * chefs kiss * Now, I'm becoming a regular for their green juice and smoothies. My current favorite is PB&J shake.. 10/10. We went there today at around 1:30pm and they close at 3pm. We sat down and ordered drinks. They have great natural juices and great Nutella latte. We look through the menu and decide on some lunch options. But as we go to order the waitress says they don't have rice on Sundays and that there was no more steak left. Then she proceeds to say that they weren't offering anything on the dinner menu. And we look at the menu for the lunch options and she said that they only had breakfast or sweets available. My husband comes to this place all the time and it's a common thing that an hour before they close they say they don't do certain things which makes no sense. They should make that disclaimer on the menu. The waitress' job was to let us know even before we sat down or at least before we ordered anything. So we had to drink our drinks, pay and leave to find another place. Not going back and not recommending this place to anyone. read more

Me and my friend went there craving crepes, alls she's talked about the past few weekswas how good the crepes were from here so I was very excited to try them out. Service is great we sat down and ordered, my friend got her basic crepe and I got what I thought was the strawberry crepe. Turns out I got the wrong crepe, I had received the berry one with granola and Greek yogurt in it. Thats fine simple mistake it happens. I get my new and correct crepe and oh my god I cannot explain what was in that crepe but it was DISGUSTING. What I'm assuming was the cheesecake pieces it tasted like chemicals and expired butter. Horrendous. Not coming back ever! My friends crepe was pretty good no complaints but just be careful with what you order! A little pricey too $17 for a crepe and an iced tea. read more

Service was good, food tasted clean and was light. Juice was natural. Atmosphere has the potential of being really cute and modern, but is slacking slightly. Perfect for bringing your computer and doing work or studying. The menu options are plenty full and so are the drinks. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner options. The place seems to be run by high school students and they do the best they can. In regards to the food though the crepes were chewy and not light or airy. The breakfast sandwich it's a great idea to have it on a brioche bun but they overcooked the Turkey bacon and it was definitely missing some salt or pepper on the eggs. read more

The avocado toast was outstanding - I had mine with fried egg and my friend had hers with mozzarella and tomatoes. The bread was absolutely fabulous. I found this hidden gem because I always go to the church next-door. I always knew it was a cute little cafe but never knew how great it was. a friend recommended me this café and I will say some things are a little over priced but overall the food is delicious. staff is very helpful and friendly and the place is always nicely decorated and always clean. definitely recommend coming here after a good worship service!! read more

Fresh food paired with service and a smile! The Island Açaí Bowl is my favorite dish. Beautiful presentation, fresh fruits and the crunch of granola. We were surprised by the size of the crepe and how much flavor was packed into it! Highly recommend this spot and be advised, the local church keeps this spot very busy on Sunday mornings! read more

This is my absolute favorite go to spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! The owner Tony and his beautiful wife are so awesome! Their food is extremely fresh and their juices are great after a workout (kings court next door). Their prices are great for the quality of food! My favorite item on their menu has to be the Nutella crepe for my sweet cravings, but honestly all their food is fresh and delicious! They have great breakfast specials as well! Haven't been here since it first opened several years ago. The menu and staff has expanded. I am happy to see this cafe has survived. The crepes, coffee, smoothies and avacado toast we had were good and nicely plated. The space is clean with decent amount of tables. Feels relaxing and low key for good convetsation with friends. There is sufficent parking since it is located in Kings Court so that's a plus. Overall, will come back again. read more

If a Groupon is still available, I highly recommend purchasing it so you can get a taste of what this place has to offer! [Heads up: you'll have to pay tax after using your Groupon, but it's not even a dollar.] Right next to King's Court in Lyndhurst! Work out, eat healthy! ;) My new favorite place to get coffee and a bite to eat! I used a Groupon for 1 sweet crepe, coffee/tea, and 2 scoops of gelato. Exotic crepe: blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, & raspberry sauce - I can't blame them that kiwis aren't yet in season, so they weren't ripe enough to be eaten. However, that didn't stop me from eating the whole thing! The crepe was thin and tasty. Blueberries and raspberries were the perfect amount of sweetness. The raspberry sauce added a hint of flavor, and it wasn't too sweet! Overall, delicious crepe! Coffee: I opted for chocolate hazelnut flavored coffee based on the recommendation of the person taking orders. Delicious! Definitely taste the flavor. And...it's organic coffee! Gelato: I'm saving it for later! I chose pistachio and vanilla bean. :) They have booth and counter seating for dining in. It is on the small side, but it wasn't busy when I went in on a Sunday around 11am. They make everything in store including the pastries and soup. Soup has no preservatives, artificial flavor/coloring, etc! Prices aren't outrageous, either. Definitely reasonable and affordable, especially for the quality. They have a pretty extensive menu for such a small place (e.g., savory crepes, paninis, espresso beverages, fruit/veggie smoothies, spinach cakes, soup, croissants, etc etc). Holy crepe this place is truly amazing! From the clean interior to the welcoming staff this place hit all the right spots for me. After a rather long, dreary, traffic-filled commute from the city I was ready for an afternoon snack to satisfy my sweet tooth. Thankfully I remembered that I had bookmarked this place sometime back. I knew I had to give it a try and as the saying goes "there's no time like the present!" There's really nothing complex about this review. Matter of fact it's straightforward--you have to come by and give this place a try. Now they may not have the "traditional" crepe that the Frenchies have, but what they do have are crepes on steroid. Huge, lump, filled-to-capacity crepe that just bursts with flavor! My choice of goodness for my first visit was a recommendation from the cashier: the Biscolate. This decadent, sweet crepe consisted of an Oreo cookie filling, drizzled with chocolate, caramel, and four dollops of whip cream. Good golly Miss Molly that combination is a foodgasm if I've ever seen one. I devoured...let me say that again DEVOURED...the whole crepe in mere moments. It was like a magic show. Now you see it...well you know the rest. So don't give me any of your "crepe" and head over here soon as you can. I promise it's worth it. read more

We've ascended to the 3rd Wave! This place is great for breakfast and/or lunch. I love crepes and we've been here about 3 times already. I'm sure we'll be back in the near future. They do have a tendency to go toward healthy eating and that's why they predominantly serve crepes, smoothies and other health-conscious alternatives for breakfast and lunch. They also have delicious waffles! No matter what you have, you will leave feeling full. Just walk in, take a menu, decide on your order, make your order at the counter and choose a seat to be served. As of it being a cafe that serves coffee, yes - it also does that and the coffee is piping hot and stays hot. What more can I say? Go to the 3rd Wave Cafe for the coffee, but stay for the crepes! read more

Love this place, I absolute love crepes and for some reason it's always hard to find a good one that actually remains open. I came to try this place out because of course I got a good deal on groupon. I wasn't sure if they would be open because it was 9pm on a Thursday night but turns out they are open until 10pm! Awesome We ordered the basic crepe that comes with strawberry, banana, & Nutella. It was delicious !! Must try. Included in my groupon I was able to get two scoops of gelato so we got the vanilla, which was amazing too and as our drink just decided to stick with water. It didn't think long to make, quick and friendly service, they brought it to our table. The only thing I did notice was that they only had about 6-7 tables, which at times could be a problem if it's packed and you don't want to take it to go. But other then that seems like a great place. I will definitely be coming back soon. read more

My overpriced avocado salad was practically swimming in vinegar. The result was soggy, bitter spinach...so bad I couldn't eat more than a few bites. As big fans of juices, we were pretty psyched to learn of this place so close to where we live. The place has serious potential, as the menu is quite extensive, however, they need some serious customer service training. I went in for two juices and was quite surprised to discover they don't carry any "Red" apples. When I asked the girls behind the counter if they would be open to getting some, as red apple/lemon makes an awesome natural lemonade, and carrot, apple, strawberry, pear is a great smoothie, the girls adamantly said "NO." Given their lack of interest in keeping me as a customer, I doubt one of them is the owner. As a result , the juices we ordered (Beet, apple, ginger, lime) were nowhere near as good as they usually are, as granny smiths are less sweet and much more sour. This is the first juice place I've ever seen that doesn't carry, nor plans to carry, a single red apple. It's like a burger place that refuses to carry buns. Such an easy fix, too. The place was completely empty so I imagine they could use the business, but given how inflexible they seem to be, we'll just get our juice elsewhere going forward. read more

I got the basic crepe which was Nutella with bananas and I was so disappointed. That did not taste like Nutella at all, I think they used some kind of imitation but it did not taste like hazelnut. It had no taste and to top it all off it was $13.85 what a rip off... I've gotten the nutella and banana crepe at the mall before and I paid $8 or $9 but it was so delicious that you can't compare it at all. I would not recommend this place at all. We ordered 2 sweet crepes - the basic (strawberry, bananas, Nutella with powdered sugar) and the peanut one ( bananas, peanut butter with a drizzle of Nutella on top). $20 for both. Granted, they were both about a foot long each, but not worth the price, and definitely not worth the drive. The crepe batter was not a very good one, nor was it cooked enough. I've had enough crepes to know how it should be made, and this was not it. The guy taking my order was a complete and utter douche. He was unfriendly, and he had absolutely no control of the ordering process. People were standing around the cash register on top of each other not knowing who should order next and when. I walked in and they have booth and counter seating for dining in. They make everything in store including the pastries and soup Definitely reasonable and affordable prices, especially for the quality of fresh fruit. They do have a pretty extensive menu for such a small place. They have savory and sweet crepes, paninis, espresso beverages, fruit/veggie smoothies, spinach cakes, soup, croissants. But no photo of the crepes so I had to played it safe and got the Heaven Crepe: mango, orange, strawberries, Nutella, mango sauce. it's was real big and it can feed two or more people. Came here last night with my sister and it was empty. We were excited because we love crepes and I found this place on Groupon so I was hoping it'd be our new go to place. Don't really think I'll be coming back though... First off, I bought this Groupon on December 21 and it says, "Five $7 vouchers: each voucher valid for $7 toward menu items" and the fine print says, "Limit 1 per person. Limit 1 voucher per visit. Valid only for option purchased. 7% NJ sales tax not Included. Not valid with other offers or specials. Must use promotional value in 1 visit. ". Mind you, they have a new Groupon that says the $7 is only towards gelato, shakes, and juices but that's not the one I had purchased. We went in and a gentleman helped us. He was really nice and gave us time to pick out what we wanted since this was our first time here. The menu is a little overwhelming just because everything sounded so good and we wanted everything. He explained to my sister that they used fresh fruit etc. I told him I had a Groupon and he asked to see it. He told me the Groupon couldn't be used for the crepes, only for gelato, shakes, and juice and also said he asked someone to change the Groupon listing because it was making customers believe it could be used for anything on the menu. Well no kidding, since it flat out says that it can be used for menu items, I would think I could use it for crepes since that's their main thing no? ... Anyway, I was kind of taken aback because the Groupon doesn't specify any of that, as you can see. Also, a note, make sure you specify whether or not you want take out or sit in because dine in prices are more expensive. I told the gentleman take out and he said okay. Then another lady came in to help us finish our orders while he made our crepes. It's made on the spot which was nice. We ordered two drinks with the lady, a strawberry banana juice and my sister had the cookies and cream gelato shake. Mind you, we had already told the guy take out, but I guess that wasn't transferred to her. With the Groupon for the shakes, the total still came out to over $21.... I looked at the receipt and she charged us for a large shake when we asked for the small, so we told her and she said, dine in only comes in large. We said we asked for take out and we got a look.... so she looked at the menu and gave us our $2.50 for the shake. We sat down waiting for the food and she brought me my drink...which was in the dine in glass... I thought we said take out? But I didn't even feel like saying anything so I just drank some. This was $1 more for dine in but I didn't even bother asking for the money back just because it was whatever at that point. My sister's shake was so liquidy and my juice really didn't have much flavor to it. Our crepes came out and the boxes were huge. They were like a foot for each crepe, they looked delicious. We took it home and tried it, I was slightly disappointed. I had the exotic, which was blueberries, rasberries, kiwis, and a sauce. The fruit was sour but they're not in season so it's okay, I didn't mind and finished the whole t hing. Overall, the place was nice, clean, and has potential. Personally, I probably won't be coming back but I know many other people will enjoy it here. read more
