My granddaughter and I went to breakfast yesterday. We always go to breakfast or lunch on her mom's birthday who would be 33 this year. We ordered and I asked for French toast, and she ordered eggs, hotcakes & bacon. My toast came and it was absolutely not cooked! I just stared at white bread with some white egg on it! The waitress immediately saw my reaction and said, oh I'm taking this back! That's not done well and I'll take them back to be replaced. I couldn't argue because they were truly inedible. Of course it took a little time. My granddaughter almost finished her meal and the waitress returned with a much more appetizing plate. They were delicious and it was appreciated. Heres the part that was above and beyond- she not only took it off but the entire bill was only a little over $5, so they must've credited my granddaughters meal somewhat AND this young waitress, Kira, brought us a paper bag with a full banana nut bread apologizing again! Wow! Not expected and I never responded I was upset so I feel like she had truly done everything she could to make certain we left in a positive light. This restaurant picked the right staff to represent them. I hope they realize that these gestures left us willing to return and to make sure we pass on how much they did to resolve a problem and turn it around. Thank you Kira! read more

I can't leave a review based on the food but the service was so bad we walked out before we even ordered. When we entered there was a lady behind a counter under a "check out" sign. She didn't acknowledge us. We thought we entered from the wrong side of the building so walked to other side to see if we would be seated. There was no one at the other entrance or any sign that said "wait to be seated". We returned to the place we first entered to still be ignored. We thought maybe we seat ourselves, so we did. After about a minute of being completely ignored my husband went up to the "check out" and asked how we get served. The lady immediately said in a very rude tone, " You seated yourselves! We don't like when people do that. If you wait a few minutes someone will be with you". we were shocked. My husband said "how were we to know that, there's no sign?" and we walked out. Mind you, there were only 2 tables with people there at the time. The restaurant was almost empty. I have never been treated that rudely. We went next door to AppleBees and tipped our waitress a 75% tip. read more

This is our first time to a Bob Evans. We sat down and a lady came by with menus dropped them on the table saying "Here" and walked off. What a cold start to breakfast. Our waitress was amazing and informative. Food was good. The Host on the other hand, all four of them were to busy talking and doing scratch -it's to even remember the cash drawer, then was inconvenienced by switching to card instead. After foot surgery, I'm temporarily STUCK here in Springfield (CHAIN CITY) so when I finally had a chance to go out, this was better than nothing, but not by much... (waaaah, yep, I'm whining!!) It's that crazy time bet. Christmas and New Years when half the world is off work for the holidays, and the other half has to take care of their (our) lazy butts, so as much as I feel for the extremely harried/overworked crew here this late Monday morning, I really think they could have done a better job... TONS of people waiting for tables at the entrance (our wait was not too bad, probably 15-20 min. or so) but once we were finally seated, there were at least half a dozen or more empty tables just waiting to be cleared. Service was sloooooooow, but we got our coffee pretty quickly, and our apologetic waitress brought our biscuits out ahead of time and let us know that the kitchen was pretty backed up. I got some sort of open-faced omelet "bowl," and I have to say, while it tasted ok, I have NEVER seen anything look more different from the menu picture to reality (wish I had taken a picture comparing the two!!) All in all, not bad, but (waaaaaaaaah again, another whine!!) I could make most, if not all of this stuff better myself. We came to this Bob Evan's because normally the food isn't bad and I wanted breakfast while my girlfriend wanted a salad. She ordered a Cobb Salad, but was brought a totally different salad, and the server just sat the food down and walked away without even asking if everything was ok. My girlfriend had to take her salad up to the counter area to let someone know it was wrong. It was replaced, but she found a piece of pineapple (?) in her salad. Pretty sure a Cobb Salad doesn't have pineapple. No refills of our water, either, after sitting with empty glasses. read more

I really love this chain from rio grande ohio. especially their breakfast food! some of their dinner deals are fun. I always get sweet tea!!! I've used bob evans for thanksgiving before. It doesn't cost too much and the food tastes pretty good. Sometimes its easier if the cooks are getting older to give them a break! This location was pretty good. We have a very friendly server. The Wildfire Chicken Salad is my favorite dinner from Bob Evans. Today's dinner was not even decent enough for me to eat half. The chicken barely had any BBQ sauce, the wrong tomatoes were used, the bowl was too small so the salad couldn't be mixed without making a mess. The "bread" was 2 pieces of crust. The waitress did the bare minimum. The cashier asked "How was everything", my reply was "Not good", to which her only response was Hmmm. I can't believe I am giving 5 stars to a Bob Evans, but I really can't see any reason not to. And it is mostly because of a server who I believe was named Mae. After a quick trip to Cinci, my Mom and I dropped in here for a quick bite before heading home. We were very concerned at first since, it being the time the church crowds were going wild and the parking lot was filled to capacity, we figured there would be a long wait. However, we only sat about 5 minutes before getting a table. The place, recently redone I warrant, was neat and clean with a lovely little bakery section at the entrance. The corridor to the restrooms was tight, but the facilities themselves were just fine. The big thing though was the service, specifically our super friendly and helpful server. She was managing to stay energetic and cheerful despite the massive crowds, and made us feel quite welcome...I think some of her exuberance even rubbed off on us, and we left in a better mood than we entered. Service was prompt, we were never without refills, and she had the knack of showing up just when you were thinking you might need something. Seriously, she was one of the better servers I've had in years. I was also really impressed with the food. Bob Evans are usually okay - maybe 3~4 stars - but d*** if those weren't the best pancakes I've had in a long time. Perfectly crisp with no gooey or burnt spots and certainly no onion flavor (something I have come to take as "normal" at BE), I couldn't find anything to complain about. The bacon was also extremely good and again, perfectly cooked. Coffee was fresh and flavorful. My mother, meanwhile, had a turkey sandwich with bacon which she also said was surprisingly good, with a very nice tomato and plenty of meat. We ended the meal with a slice of pumpkin pie which was also very tasty. Overall, I was surprisingly impressed with this experience, one of the better I have had in any restaurant and certainly the best I have had at a Bob Evans. read more

After we had been swatting the fruit flies away for a good twenty minutes into our meal, our waitress came back to the table and told us that she had unfortunately been asked to leave for the night due to an altercation she'd had with a rude juvenile who had come in for dinner. Not sure what happened, but no one came back out to check on us and I was beginning to wonder what other bugs were going to join us at our table. So, we got up to leave and when I stopped at the cashier's stand to tell them about the problems we'd had, the manager decided that his stand on this would be that these bugs are in every restaurant. To which we responded, "We think not." Although he did comp the meals, he obviously did not have a handle on the issues that plague this restaurant. The place needs to be shut down, cleaned thoroughly and put into the hands of a capable manager like the one who runs the S. Limestone store. That would be the only way I'd ever go back. read more

Springfield, Ohio. I love this Bob Evans. The food is good, your typical Bob Evans. The servers are friendly. You may have to wait a few minutes to be seated at lunch time and after church. I love their waffles and deserts. I try to take a sweater in with me even during the summer because of the cold air blowing down from the ceiling vents. read more

Ordered the meat loaf smaller portion with carrots instead of potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf was smothered in gravy and besides being tough it was too salty to eat. The carrots tasted like they were left in the fridg in an open container and the beans were squishy. I sent it back and decided to just eat the banana bread which turned out to be somewhat wet like it had been frozen. My husband ordered the black angus chopped sirloin with portabella mushrooms. He found the meat and shrooms were burnt. The table has syrup on it and the screen dividing our table is dirty. We have had unsatisfactory issues with this restaurant and the one in Beavercreek. Floors were filthy. Food was sub par. Fruit was warm. Wife's dinner was lukewarm at best. Plenty of staff on hand but mostly talking amongst themselves. Customer load was small. Off shift yellowcake in and talking and joking with on shift crew. Most disturbing was all the people standing around with no sense of cleaning the surroundings. There were crumbs on our booth seat and food stains on the table. It is the same reason we stopped eating at the Bob Evans on Tuttle. Get a little pride in your business. Came here for dinner tonight. It is national pie day, so they had free pie. (Unadvertised) They sent an email to people who subscribe to them. Well anyways, we went. The restaurant was pretty much empty. We were seated right next to the other three tables of people in the place. That was pretty annoying. Our waitress was very nice. After we ordered she came to the table and said that it would be a while on our food. We were all thinking how? This place is empty. They should be on top of it. We waited and waited. Pancakes and scrambled eggs were cold; the turkey club was blah. The chicken pot pies could burn your face off they were so hot. Our waitress came back and apologized again for the long wait. She brought some banana nut bread that was doughy. Service was good, but the kitchen needs help. This place used to be excellent. It has clearly went downhill. We used to eat here at least weekly. Love the breakfast menu! Over the past several months, the service and quality of food have taken a downhill spiral. This morning we were seated promptly but waited several minutes for our server to acknowledge. The hostess actually came by and asked if someone had acknowledged us. When taking our order the server began by saying, " Let me just tell you, we are out of sausage patties." My wife was disappointed because she always orders sausage patties. We then asked ourselves, "how does Bob Evans run out of sausage?" We waited almost 25 minutes for our order and when it arrived, the scrambled eggs were cold. There were two older ladies who came in about 15 minutes after we ordered and sat across from us. To our surprise, when their order arrived they had sausage patties. When paying the bill the employee at the register asked how things were and when I told him about the issue with the sausage he said, "that doesn't sound right, I will notify the manager." It will be a VERY LONG TIME before we come here again. read more

If you want to interact with a defensive service staff and a manager who won't take responsibility for poor service by all means go to this Bob Evans. This used to be our family's "go to place" for our last breakfast with our daughter before she started school. We are from out of state and this was a nice ritual. We'd buy her breakfast and pick up a gift card for her before we'd head back to the airport. This is the start of her senior year and we were hoping for a nice repeat. We must have been in line for over 10 minutes to pay our bill. One party in front of us just left without paying the bill. We stayed and waited despite both a hostess and a manager working two registers. When I finally got up to the register, the manager says "I'm sorry" the computer is froze. I suggested that since I had already been in line for quite some time I didn't want to get behind 5 other people in the other line who hadn't been waiting as long as me. HINT: I am asking you to ring me up next as I was "next in line." He just shrugged. Why I didn't just walk out then like the other group in front of me without paying I don't know. I guess I wasn't raised that way. So I wait, and when I do get to the front to pay and the cashier asks how is everything I just say "let's not get into that." HINT: I am really frustrated by the lack of good customer service here and if you are NOT REALLY INTERESTED in what I have to say, don't ask! So I do tell you why I am frustrated and instead of saying I'm sorry, or can I give you a free muffin or something for your trouble the cashier just gets defensive. The Manager tells me "You can just leave." Hey, I am trying to leave; I have been trying for 10 minutes but you can't run a register and all I am asking is that you be fair and make sure you ring people up in order. The food is ok but even if the food is great I don't give repeat business to people who treat customers poorly. So now I am boycotting all BOB EVANS restaurants and thanks for ruining what is usually a nice family moment. read more

First time in ages we stopped for dinner at Bob Evans' First Street location in Springfield, OH. It was not a busy Monday night and past the peak dinner hour. Our server was attentive, thankfully. Kitchen employees were VERY noisy, yelling, laughing, dropping things. We waited too long for our meals which were meatloaf and pot roast, both surely cooked earlier in the day. Meatloaf was old and dried out as my husband described it. I sent back my pot roast immediately as my first bite was an undercooked onion. YUCK! The server agreed she even smelled the raw onion as she sat down my bowl. It was returned timely with some of the onions cooked on the grill. Those in the bottom of the bowl were still undercooked. As my husband was done eating and waiting on me by that time, I ate the now room temp meal rather than send it back for the second time. This was the light portion and I found 3 bites of fat in my bowl. Are you kidding me??? Now I remember why we have not eaten there for so long! read more
