    Pumpkin Pancakes

This review covers their brunch service only. Sunrise Cafe is sure to offer you a wonderful experience with its fantastic and inclusive brunch menu. The food I had was just like a cozy home-cooked meal on a Sunday morning. Exactly what I look for from a place like this. Along side that, the atmosphere is charming, and the service I had was very pleasant. I absolutely recommend and come back again!

From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting vibe set the tone for a perfect meal. I had the goat cheeseburger with caramelized onions and sautéed kale, paired with a side of red cabbage--it was savory perfection balanced by the slightly sweet cabbage. We also ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the Sunrise Café Breakfast. Everything on the table was incredible: soft, fluffy scrambled eggs, potatoes, homemade biscuits, veggie patties, and--without exaggeration--the best pancakes I've ever had. On top of the amazing food, our waiter James made the whole experience even better. Friendly, attentive, and he made us feel right at home.

Drove over from Westerville just for breakfast (45 minutes) Got the pumpkin pancakes (almost as good as gingerbread), potatoes and veggie patties! All wonderful! Sleepy morning in Yellow Springs

Food!! Their French toast was the best I've ever had in my life. I can make some good French toast!!! Shrimp, and grits was excellent. They also make the best drinks in excellent coffee.

I was going to rate this 4 stars, but one of my family members got sick so I had to rate this three. This place has good atmosphere. It was not too loud, we were sat down next to the window, and there was really good music playing on the radio, definitely a lot of Stevie Wonder. Our waiter was super nice and helped us out with the menu. I had the Sunrise Classico which was pretty good. The artichokes slices were probably a little too big, but it was a nice dish. My mom had a regular burger that she only saw as okay. But my little sister had the salmon and she was in love. I didn't get a bite of it because she ate it as fast as humanly possible. Here is the meal that made me rate this place a three star, the Greek Beef burger. My dad order that last night, which he didn't really like that much. The next morning, he had a huge stomach ache which he said was from the burger. I do not recommend anyone ordering this, it could just be my dad but please be careful.

Vegan pumpkin pancake and veggie patties

One time I went to Yellow Springs and needed brunch. Sunrise Cafe was there for me. I dined with a group of 6 on a Sunday morning, and although initially we were told the wait would be 45-60 minutes we were seated within 10. I am a plant based eater, and as such sometimes brunch options are limited, but not at Sunrise Cafe. I found it difficult to choose between the Super Veggie Scramble (tofu and SO many veggies), Vegan Fill-Up (veggie patties, sautéed spinach, mushroom, and garlic, potatoes, and toast), vegan pumpkin pancakes (self-explanatory), kimchi salad, vegan grits, and potato and kale soup. These are the things I was considering - there are more! I settled on a pumpkin pancake and veggie patties. The pancake was HUGE, with crisp edges and a cakey middle. The spices are truly inspired - hands down the best pumpkin pancake I've been served. The veggie patties are house made with oats, flax, cornmeal, several veggies, and cayenne which adds just a bit of heat. They were also delicious. Both the pancake and patties were a little more oily than they needed to be, but otherwise I have no complaints. The restaurant itself is cute - the walls are covered in woodland/nature murals and the booths provide an intimate setting for conversation. It is a little chilly in the winter, so dress warmly. Pricing is very reasonable, especially for the quality and amount of food - I did NOT leave hungry, and am looking forward to going back to try all the other things I wasn't able to fit in.

I visited Yellow Springs Ohio for the first time yesterday and decided to try out Sunrise Cafe. I'm so glad I did! The service was very warm and friendly. The tables were candlelit and the water was served in cute little jugs. I need to mention that in the front was an award they received for best pancakes so I couldn't wait to try them. The menu is very impressive. I ordered the veggie melt sandwich and it was so delicious. I got a side of red cabbage which was also delicious! My husband got an omelette with buffalo sausage and I ordered a three stack of pancakes... one buttermilk, one blueberry, and one pecan. They were so good! So I give this restaurant five stars for good food, good service and the quality of the food is so natural and fresh. I will definitely be going back :)

Starting off with the Rosemary Maple Whiskey Sour

Been wanting to traipse up to Yellow Springs for quite some time after not having been there in AGES. Started off with a cocktail: Rosemary Maple Whiskey Sour that was AMAZING!!! Their menu was expansive with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served all day. I had Ranchos Heuvos. (Scrambled Eggs) that had more black beans then I had ever seen in that entree. It was JUST OKAY. Sunrise Cafe is an eclectic little college town cafe. The waitress was very nice and engaging, and overall I have no complaints about this spot. Would I do it again? Probably not, because as expansive as the menu was, the food just wasn't all that great.

Neat little place with unique menu. I ordered salmon with lavender and honey, broccoli and polenta. Had a pomegranate cosmopolitan. I wanted to order chocolate bourbon pecan pie but I was too full.

Okay... I'm still thinking about this meal like it personally changed my life a little bit…read more I had the haddock and WOW. The batter was that perfect golden crisp where every bite had that little crunch, but the fish itself was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth soft. You know when something is fried just right and not heavy or greasy at all? That. And the tartar sauce?? Not your average situation. It had this fresh, almost elevated flavor that made everything even better. I was literally dipping every last bite like I didn't trust the plate not to disappear. But honestly, what made it even more special was the people. Every single staff member was so kind and welcoming, and the chef actually came out to talk with us. I got to thank him personally for making me such an amazing gluten-free meal, which meant a lot because that's not always easy to find. Just one of those places where the food is incredible, but the experience somehow still steals the show. I will 1000% be back.

The owner takes time away from the kitchen to talk his guests like family. In a small town, you can tell the vibe is just that - they all know each other. We had a large group celebrating Mother's Day and between us I think we had 7 different menu items. The rib platter and grouper were among those and a "first come first serve" dish. You can tell they go fast and my husband got the last rib platter. They were juicy and full of that great smoke flavor you want to have. I had the fish and chips, an easy favorite it was cooked perfect with no fry oil leaking off the fish and the taste of cornmeal taking front and center. My teenagers had the grilled chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger. Both exceptional. In our family, we tend to share like it was all one table meal anyways so it was great to see not one dish we had wasn't worth the trip there. It's my Mother-In-Law's favorite local restaurant so to get in (no reservations needed), sit down and have a great meal was awesome. Now; they do have signs about not hanging around too long because of how busy they stay so if you are one that likes to digest their meal for awhile at the restaurant, you may not be able to depending on the crowd. Overall; great place and I am a sucker for those local, small business owner places.

The Churro's are delivered in a flash; we discovered this special treat nearly 50 years ago during an expedition to Spain and Portugal. The very best Churro's were prepared by roadside vendors, and our friends, Bill and Ellen Rose agreed. I also requested that CALDO BIRRIA be served prior to the entrees, and this is a delightful dish. As experienced Sunday Diners, we arrive at 11:00am to avoid the "church rush." Church folks have not yet discovered this excellent venue. Venue: a distinct Hispanic dining event; large, well-lighted restaurant with very loud music - we encouraged management to decrease volume. Sonora Grille reminded us of some fine restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. My dear wife finally elected CAMARONES AL GRILL, and we offer 5 stars to menu and to dining. My first bite into the sandwich or roll as they label them was literally a shock to my memory, it took me back to being in Maine many years ago and getting a lobster roll at a restaurant. Now I know my memory is not what it used to be, but I can honestly say this was a freaking delicious lobster roll. I ate the entire roll, wiped my face with a napkin at the table. And went up and told the server behind the counter how good the food was and that I can't wait to literally find them close by again. I will admit, I did not eat all the potato chips, because I didn't need them, but they were also good. I just read on Facebook where they're going to be in Westchester on July 20 now I need to find out where because that's literally five minutes from my house. I truly cannot wait to order another lobster roll or two. If you've never eaten at this food truck, I highly recommend it. On the day I purchased my role. It was $29 which a lot of people might think is a lot of money literally for a sandwich, but I will tell you this it is truly worth it.
