Today's visit reminds me why I don't visit this location more than about twice a year. After today, that might be reduced to never. Improvements to service are called for here, and quick. I would've called in to speak to the manager, but wasn't positive that the individual answering the phone and the unhappy person making the sandwich weren't the same and that never goes well. Stopped in for a spicy italian foot long today and was greeted by an employee who was already demonstrating he was not happy that he had to emerge from the back room to make someone's sandwich (mine). Didn't ask how I was doing, say welcome to subway, or kiss my toe, just "what would you like" with zero friendly demeanor. Anyway, he made me sandwich, toasted it as I requested, fine so far. He passes it to the woman near the register who was doing online orders and goes to start new sandwich orders. She is taking her time with online orders and retrieves new ones. My sandwich sits there between the two workers. And sits. And sits. I asked her "are you the online only person?" She replies "well, no, not really". Um, ok. So I said "well, i would like my sandwich finished please." Note that this is addressed to her, not the unhappy guy who started my sandwich, but boy howdy he sure took exception to my request anyway. I asked for a sauce and he proceeded to drench my sandwich with said sauce. Ok, well I guess I'll scrape some off, I thought to myself. Then with the toppings, he literally slapped them down on the sandwich, as if to dare me to request one more thing of him. How dare I do this?! I asked for it to be cut in half and wrapped separately, which happened and both halves were shoved to the register and rung up by an altogether different person who, thankfully, did not have an attitude. Suggestion: If you're going to have online orders coming in, then have a dedicated order person to handle those orders and maybe help out with prep on the side. Under no circumstances should you ignore the customer standing in front of you waiting for their sandwich to be finalized so that the online orders can be processed first. If the online orders are overwhelming and affecting counter service, then stop accepting mobile/online orders. It is also a bad look for the sandwich artist to have such an obvious poor attitude to someone making a basic request that their sandwich be finished since it seems to this customer that the online orders are more important.

But sometimes, you want to eat somewhere that doesn't feel like a culinary roulette wheel. Enter: @Arbys. The big-box fast food chain that somehow cracked the code for consistent food quality. Probably sold their soul to the devil in exchange for eternally reliable roast beef. I respect that hustle. I rolled in, ordered my usual: Plain roast beef (because I'm a man of simple tastes and questionable decisions), cheese sticks (because I believe in joy), and sweet tea (because hydration should taste like diabetes). Took it to go, because I'm always on the move--like a bald eagle chasing marinara dreams. Got home, opened the bag. Sandwich? Cheese sticks? Marinara? Excuse me, WHAT? Who serves cheese sticks without marinara? Is this a prank? Is Ashton Kutcher hiding in my pantry? Do I need to file a missing sauce report? I thought this was America. Do I have to ask for marinara now? Is it a secret menu item? Do I need a password? A blood oath? Anyway, the food was solid. Prices? Not so much. Bring your unlimited credit card or a small loan. The kids like them, they're micro pancakes served with whatever toppings you want. I wound up ordering the regular phillys two with peppers and onions and one without. The guys working the truck were so nice and even though they had a long line it didn't take a ton of time for them to make our food. I wasn't a big fan of the giant slab of (I think mozzarella) cheese on the sandwich, honestly it made the bread soggy and everything was so oily I couldn't eat it. I wound up scraping off as much of the cheese as I could and stuck the entire thing in the air fryer to crisp up. It helped a bit but this isn't something I'd pay for again.
