    a flight of beers

Great addition to Clintonville (but still sad to see Lineage closing). Combustion, out of Pickerington, now has an easy access taproom in Clintonville! No more planning to make the trip down to Pickerington, I can now bike and consume some delicious beer before biking on. Some notes: they will not have a kitchen. But they have a QR code on every table that helps you order from the neighborhood restaurants! So you won't get the food trucks from Pickerington, but you can get the plethora of good food in the area. Stop on by, grab a flight (Antidote, Combustion IPA, Kangaroo Hazy, and Sir Veza are a few of my current favorites).

Combustion took over the venerable Lineage Brewery in Clintonville. The bar and setup is mostly the same, though sadly Combustion doesn't offer food. Thankfully, there are ample fast-casual restaurants within walking distance and you can get takeout to eat at Combustion. Not the same, but better than nothing. Combustion does have really solid beer, and a full 20+ taps. The staff is friendly and engaging and they really know their stuff. You won't be disappointed with the beer, just eat beforehand or know it's gonna be takeout!

The brewery has a very cool atmosphere. You can definitely see the connection to Antiques on High, but it has its own unique vibe and personality. It felt welcoming and relaxed, making it an easy place to spend some time. We tried a few beers, and they were all excellent. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and helped make the experience even better. As a bonus, we even met some fellow Steelers fans while we were there, which made the visit even more memorable! Great beer, great people, and a great atmosphere. We'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're exploring the Columbus brewery scene.

They have a great outdoor space as alwats with a food truck. Then they added the side patio AND THEN the entire garden upstairs. The space upstairs is used for all kinds of events and yoga. Alwats good service - they move quick. If you don't like the food truck, Budd dairy is across the street with plenty of options. Parking here is tricky as on-street is the only available. Budd dairy has a small lot - but it's mostly parking permit on the side streets. They also host vintage markets in the summer on Sundays. I have found parking across the street. You'll be driving a bit but it's doable. Enjoy the space!

I got the Korean BBQ smash burger topped with Korean BBQ aioli, Cleveland Kraut Kimchi, gochugaru (korean chili flake) and scallion. I don't understand the smash burger craze since I like my burgers medium rare, but if I have to eat a smash burger to enjoy these toppings, I'm in! The heat, texture and combination of flavors were epic. The fries are well done too! They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and this was even after 30 minutes. Nothing fancy but done amazingly well and very quickly. My burger was out in a few minutes. I will say that the pizzas I saw coming out of the kitchen will have me coming back to try one of them. The beer was good, although I'll admit that the heat from the burger affected my pallet to truly enjoy the beers since I got a tasting flight. I was here on a Friday night between 5:45 and 7 and it was filling up until I was ready to head out. They do have happy hour on Friday from 2-5pm for $1 off pints.

The focus on the beer was mostly on lagers, which I love. Only negative: the man pouring the taps there one of the nights has no clue what he was talking about. I asked him the difference between two of the bocks they had on tap (a helles bock and a maibock...debately the same style, if not very similar) and he said "how strong the Belgian yeasts are" in a very confident tone. I told him I had never heard of bocks being made with Belgian yeasts, and he said it's "a Cincinatti thing". I got a taste of the beer, and there were no phenolics (for non beer nerds: it had no Belgian flavors) so I ordered one and didn't argue.

We hit up several breweries on a recent trip to Columbus, and Hoster was my favorite beer of the trip. It was just well made, good tasting beer - nothing crazy. To top it off, there's bottomless self-serve popcorn and a vintage jukebox topped with a bowl of free quarters to play your favorite selctions from the decades. The collections of artifacts from Hoster's storied histories, make the walk to the bathroom like a visit to a mini-museum. I loved the homey decor and selection of tables, barstools, and comfy chairs. This place was somewhat family friendly, but it's not a huge space, so it's not great for tots that like to run around. I believe there might have been soooome seasonal outdoor seating, but nothing crazy. Lots of parking and easily accessible. The bartender was super welcoming, friendly, and generous! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy - that was welcomed! Hoster is worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Their brews rival the big names in the area.

I ordered the Wild & Sour flight and really enjoyed it. It was a great way to sample a variety of unique flavors, and each pour showcased the creativity and quality that Antiques on High is known for.
