We were searching for a new 4Runner and found the right vehicle at Bob Rohrman Toyota. We were a little apprehensive buying a vehicle from a dealership 2 hours away, so we were cautious at every step. We arrived at the dealership and we're greeted by multiple people who were friendly and offered to help. The dealership is impressive! It's very clean and well kept. Dalton Miller was our sales representative (assistant buyer, really), and he did not disappoint! Dalton was professional through the whole process and kept his word. He had good communication before the sale; he kept us informed of when the new vehicle will arrive. The vehicle was exactly as described and exactly what we wanted. He also kept his word on the price. Dalton took the time to go over the vehicles features and show us all the bells and whistles. At no time did we feel any "sales pressure". Again, he was very professional in helping us buy this truck. Ben, the finance guy, was also professional. Of course, they want to upsell the extended warranty, but Ben was respectful of our budget. A few months back I was on the market for a Solar Octane 4Runner or maybe a solar octane Tacoma. Larry said he would find one from other dealers. He told me they didn't usually order solar octane 4Runners because it's an undesirable color. A couple days later he calls me back and said he found one that could be shipped to their dealership in Lafayette but it would be a $7,500 markup added on to the price... How does that make sense? It's an undesirable color which makes it hard to sell...but you're going to add a mark up. Talk about frauds. Dont shop here, never pay above MSRP. read more

Took my 2017 86 in perfect condition in which I bought brand new here to get replacement wheel bearing... and they damaged my hood saying it flew open on windy day at low speed and they trying to charge me for replacement hatch saying it's not safe anymore. They are the only ones that's ever worked on my car. They agreed to fix hood but declined to show me visibility in how the hood is being fixed, which I stated in want hood to be brand new due to safety. I am telling you right now if it wasn't for Chuck Austin, I would never visit this place again. Grandpa Rohrman would be rolling over in his grave with the way that these grandchildren are running the business. They charge for every little nuance such as merchant processing fees, etc. I put a car on hold because it was tough to get and they required the hold and charged me 3% on $500. I didn't even notice it but I got an oil change and they charged me 3% on a $35 oil change. I have bought several cars off of these folks and I am just disappointed in the new way of doing business with this dealership. There are other ways to make money and earn my business versus trying to charge me 3% for easy merchant processing. Chuck Austin is the only reason I come here because he is the best car salesman I've ever dealt with. I feel like I trust him and he keeps to his word. He goes above and beyond to make sure that the service levels are there! I've now had my father, my mother, my two daughters buy cars off of him plus me buying two cars off of him. I was scheduled for a repair when I was rear ended a block away from the shop. I didn't take the guy's insurance because there was no obvious damage. Unfortunately, when I got there, opened the trunk, it wouldn't close again. They couldn't do the repair because of the trunk. Five guys stopped what they were doing to try to help me. Everyone honestly did their best to try to help me. Once I got the trunk fixed, I rescheduled. Will report back on their excellent work. read more

I had a good experience followed by an awful experience. Good? I needed a wheel alignment and for $139 was totally satisfied. While there of course a complete vehicle inspection took place and I requested a written estimate for all four struts to be replaced. The estimate came back at $992. That seemed reasonable. I made an appt for this service. I showed up at the appointed time and added a few other items to the service. In about an hour or so, the service writer came back to tell me that he had an issue with the estimate. He said the "estimator" was no longer with the company. Oh of course. The estimate he gave was for aftermarket parts (not Toyota OE) and that the actual estimate would be well over $2000. OE was a lot more than that. Sorry folks--when you cannot trust a written estimate and you schedule a service visit and drive 40 min to make the appt, you deserve better. Stay away. I purchased a vehicle from Rohrman Toyota in August of this year. While they were detailing my car they broke the side mirror on the passenger side. They said they would fix the mirror at their expense, which was fair since they broke it. The mirror had to be ordered and once it came in I made an appointment with the service department. I took my car in and they replaced the glass. Last week my car frosted over for the first time and I noticed the defrost on the mirror that was replaced was not working. I called the service department and made an appointment for last Friday. I dropped my car off on Friday morning and after I left I received a phone call from the service department telling me they would have to take my car to the collision center for the repair and I could pick it up there later in the day. Less than an hour after that I received another call from the service department telling me that they checked with the sales department (no idea why) and they said they would not fix my car because it was a used car and I bought it "as-is". I did not buy the car "as-is" I bought it with the agreement that the mirror would be fixed. I told the person on the phone that I had no idea why sales was involved as this was an issue with a repair that they already made and it is not functioning properly and asked if they guarantee their work, the guy beat around the bush and told me he would do some digging and get back with me. Well, as of 5:30 pm I had not heard anything back from Rohrman (shocker) so I went back to the dealership and asked why I hadn't received a call as promised. He said they were busy and he didn't get a chance although when I got there I was the only customer in the building and all of the service bays were empty. He again told me that they would not fix my mirror because the sales department told them no. I again asked why the sales department was involved and asked if they guarantee the work they do in the service department, apparently they do not. I would not recommend buying any vehicle from Rohrman or having any vehicle serviced there. We will never do any business with them again, under any circumstances, and we will be sure to let all of our friends and family know how unethical, dishonest and unprofessional they are. read more

I have purchased over eight used cars over the past 30 years, and this was by far the worst and most infuriating experience I have ever had. I purchased a used car less than 5 weeks ago, 'as is' after getting an inspection from my mechanic and reassurance that Bob Rohrman takes pride in their reputation and avoids selling lemons. Two weeks in the check engine light came on, after multiple visits to the mechanic, we have been quoted over $3000 to have the catalytic converters replaced. No symptoms during the test drive or first two weeks. Nothing showed up at the pre-purchase inspection. The car is essentially undriveable now. The dealer has washed its hands since I didn't purchase their overpriced warranty. Toyota service has gone down hill quickly. I went in for an oil change, tire rotation, and to get my fluids filled, they call me when its finished and try and sell a bunch of other things I don't need at the moment. (I get it it's their job; and they make money from it) I get there and they say "we didn't rotate your tires because they don't have enough tread on them below 4/32." That right there is untrue for the front tires they're 4 months old.. I didn't even have to look under the hood to know they didn't fill the fluids, but I get home and pop the hood and you guessed it! The service is very bad. This is the third time I went to Bob Rohrman since I moved to Lafayette and I had problem each time. I can't trust them with safety of my car and would rather drive 1.5 hours to Napleton Toyota at Urbana than try at Bob Rohrman again. On this most recent time, my maintenance was due so I scheduled an appointment on phone for Monday 5 pm ET (after getting off work). I specifically confirmed with the operator that there's enough time to do full maintenance. On the morning of the appointment, there was a temperature drop and my tire pressure sensor started blinking, and continued blinking all day even after pumping air to all four tires - there was some apparent problem with the tire pressure sensor. When I took my car to maintenance however, the staff seemed very rushed and he only gave me the receipt to pay the bill when the maintenance was done, without providing a report and simply saying "everything looks good". I needed to remind the person to print the report for me. When I asked about the tire pressure sensor, he said that if there was a problem, the service crew would have caught it. The tire pressure sensor was still blinking after the maintenance and continued on for about a week. I realized on the report that a recommended service, "TPMS diagnosis" (which includes checking tire pressure sensor) was declined by the staff, along with a list of other services. When I called and asked, he said that it was the end of the day and didn't have the time to do the additional services so he declined - without saying anything about it! He suggested me to make another appointment to do the check. But the phone operator told me there was enough time! And the staff didn't mention a word about the service denial! Were my supposed to drive in the Midwest cold winter not knowing whether my tire pressure is safe? What other safety hazard did they ignore simply because of their terrible attitude?! I also had an issue with brakes they installed couple of months ago. I can't trust them anymore. read more

My Purdue son took his Toyota Matrix here after the battery light came on. Told my son its the alternator, just take it to the Toyota dealer close by. Rohrman ended up charging $830 for replacement of the alternator, a belt and the diagnostic. That's almost double what it should be. What a rip off of a college kid! read more

Don't waste your time, like we did! After talking to the salesperson twice and texting we showed up to what turned out to be the worse customer experience. The inventory showed two cars of the model and year we wanted, turns out that only one was in stock, the other one had been traded to another dealer, or so I was told. The second car was a salesperson demo. With under 400 miles in the odometer, this car was dirty, stained and it looked like half of these person's possessions were stashed in the trunk. Mind you, the sales person still suggested we test drove it... yes, in the midst of COVID! The salesperson (who we had been communicating with on the phone), was assisting at least two other customers and was clearly frazzled. All within sight of the Sales Manager who did nothing to step in and provide guidance. I was pulling inventory in my phone and asking him about cars. You would think he could have at least done that! They told us that the other business had done the work incorrectly and that they would have to fix it. After 6 weeks... we finally got my sons car back. They then told us that the other dealership actually had not done anything wrong but charged us almost $2,000 dollars to fix the issues. We asked them to explain why they had said the other dealership had done faulty work then said it was fine Then we asked them to show us proof of the work they had done, and they couldn't and wouldn't provide us with any proof that they had worked on our car the whole 6 weeks they had it. After calling in repeatedly, the PR lady told us that the manager had offered us a rental car at the beginning but he never did. Went there today for an oil change. I made an appointment at certain time once there I have told it'll be a 40 minute wait which I did't mind. I came there 15 minutes early for my appointment and two hours later they are still working on it. it does not takes two hours for an oil change! what's worse was when they say it was good to go and went to get my vehicle and was about to leave the car lot I happen to check the gloves compartment the cabin filter was missing, filter cover was not put back in place. The two hour drive was worth it and Damian the salesman was awesome. He gave my wife and I the keys and told us to take the car for a test drive. No pressure. We purchased the car and we felt like we got treated with respect and not the pressured or lied to which is common at most dealerships. Stone the finance manager was straightforward. Explained everything and respected our wishes to decline certain add on's. Again no pressure. We had a glitch with the sales tax and Lexi and Stone, quickly fixed the error and sent me the money. We have a 2002 Toyota Tundra. We purchased it a few years ago from a friend who purchased new from Fort Wayne Toyota. We decided to continue there with our service since they new the vehicle. The truck has low mileage and we don't drive it a lot. We have taken it in 3 times since Jan. for the same problems. They always come up with other things that need done and they said they fixed the check engine light and battery was just bad. Well we replaced the battery twice before we had them replace it and it again went dead. After 3 visits and over $6,000 we again have the check engine light on and as for the battery well, it will take a couple months to see. We think the remote starter the previous owner put on is somehow draining the battery. They wouldn't even listen to me. We just picked it up last week and it is again saying check engine. I travel for work and was in Lafayette, Indiana at the time. Stopped into this dealership and then eventually Bought a rav4 from them last summer 2023. The people and salesman were very nice. Everything went smoothly with buying my new vehicle. They even managed to get me a great interest rate with having moderate credit. I'm leaving a one star because the salesman i got the car through, talked me into spending over 3k for the ziebart package but failed to mention when the time came to get it redone that i would HAVE to bring it into one of several specific ziebart locations. Mind you, i LITERALLY explained to him that i travel for work and would only be in the area for so many months before i'd have to leave and be placed in any of the other 49 states at any given time. So now a year later, its time for my ziebart renewal and i only find out now that i cant just take it to any ziebart location. So i LITERALLY WASTED 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS for this service package because i can not just drop everything and take off work to drive 6+ hours to get it redone so now i have to void my warranty. My girlfriend, who is set to drive to Washington DC to be available to respond to the realization of credible threats to the US Capitol around Inauguration Day, and I bought a used car yesterday Bon Rohrman Toyota. One of their sales associates, Stone Dalton, looked us in the face and straight up lied about the condition of the vehicle. His suggested "couple of hundred dollar" repair to two identified issues is being quoted at closer to $2,500 by two mechanics. Naturally, they are resisting taking any responsibility for the deceit. I'm not saying don't buy your Toyota at this dealership, I'm Just saying that you should be prepared for dishonesty. It's not enough to just sell you a product with a mark-up, they need to sell you a pile of $hit in the process. I made an appointment for 10 AM to repair a recalled airbag that the recall letter said would take an hour. When I'm checking in I'm told that it will take about 2.5 to 3 hours since they are so busy. Wait I have an appointment so I could get in and out I'm not here to "get in line". Zac the General manager was offensive and rude telling me my wife was over weight and stupid.There service department couldn't find an issue for 3 years, but when the warranty was over they found it of course with our help. They also tried to fix our seat and after finally getting to the problem on the third time they broke the power seat control and refused to fix it telling us its because my wife was fat and she broke it. The seat was taken out 3 times and broke the tab off the side, but not in their eyes. My sun roof has been making noises almost from the day we bought it new! This was the issue where they called my wife stupid saying my wife doesn't know the difference between a noise from the front of the car and a noise from the sun roof? I drove to Tom Wood in Whitestown and they found the problem in less than a block from the dealership. Toyota HQ said they will cover the defect in the sun roof but will not cover the broken seat because it's out warranty now! My car has 23k miles on it and is only 6 months out of the 3 year warranty! Nobody at Bob Rohrman cares and nobody at Toyota HQ cares either. We won't be buying a car from either ever again! The seat part is only $220 and they feel that's too high of a cost to take care of a customer! So much for their motto Toyota Cares! What a joke. The GM Zac left twice when we were coming to see him. Once for a dinner with his family and the second to do a church dealing. The HR manager there also doesn't care telling me she will take care of this and never giving a call back either! At Toyota HQ I guess a Case manager is as high as you can go to get something handled and after they talked to Rohrmans they didn't care what Tom Wood said agreeing with us that They broke the seat not us! Hybrid issue forced me to have the car towed to Rohrman Toyota in Lafayette. They spent 4 hours in diagnotics, supposedly found the issue, but I declined to have it repaired at the time. They also did a courtesy inspection and recommended several additional items...this is where it gets interesting. Items needing attention: Front brake pads and Rotors for $460, Rear brake pads and rotors for $576. Major maintenance items: Inverter coolant $213, Transmission fluid $311 and Engine coolant $208. Major items were already done (and I confirmed that they are in the Toyota database under the car's VIN), and not due for another 53,000 miles. They mentioned that the brakes were grinding when the car was brought into the shop - it has been sitting in their lot for 4 rainy, misty days - of course they're going to grind on the first few stops; they ALWAYS have done that. Rear brakes are near the end of life, front brakes? I replaced them with quality pads and they are maybe 20% worn (80% life remaining) - Wish I could post photos (see my review in Google). Not sure who is the shyster that made the call, but they do not belong in a Toyota dealership - Toyota, you're better than that. read more

These guys charged a lot of money for a 45,000 mile service, fuel injection cleaning (which according to Toyota's website I didn't even need), and brake fluid service. The morning after I got the car serviced it had trouble starting, this happened again on Monday, and it wouldn't start at all on Tuesday. This is atypical for a 3 year old car with 45,000 miles from even the least reliable manufacturers. I brought it in to be looked at by the mechanics on Monday and Tuesday each time the car had trouble starting - and after about 75 minutes each time they would tell me that nothing was found wrong with the vehicle. Following my visit on Tuesday, I took the car to the Nissan dealer a few doors down, who - in less than 5 minutes - told me that there was, in fact, an issue with the car, ran a diagnostic, and told me what the problem was (debris in fuel injection system) and how to remedy it. In other words, the folks at Nissan did in less than 5 minutes something Bob Rohrman Toyota couldn't figure out in several hours. Absolutely appalling. From what I've read in other reviews, buying a vehicle from here seems to be a relatively painless process, but don't plan on getting it serviced here - plan to make the trip to a dealer in the Indianapolis area instead, it's worth the distance. read more

I was out of town in Lafayette when my tire blew. I called Bob Rohrman the morning of July 31 about having a broken stud replaced on the front right side wheel and a new tire. Or two or four, whichever would be safest for the car. I first spoke to the person who answered the service department phone about the broken stud and blown tire, and was then transferred to the manager who would be working on Aug 1 when the work would supposedly be taking place. I was assured Bob Rohrman would be able to replace the stud and put on new tires appropriate for the van. I provided the person who would be working Aug 1 the vehicle ID number as well as the make and model of the tires that were currently on the vehicle and the mileage of the car when they were put on. It took longer than expected to repair and was ready to pick up on August 5. When putting air in my tires the other day, I had to remove the hubcap on the front right wheel because it was not aligned with the air valve, and that is when I saw the stud had NOT been replaced! Fortunately my local Toyota dealer was able to replace the broken stud and also checked the condition of the spare tire. They found that the spare had not been properly secured. I told two different employees of Bob Rohrman about the broken stud, and the mechanic should have seen it missing on the wheel. The broken piece was also sitting on the center console of the car. This is complete negligence and I would not recommend having service done at Bob Rohrman. read more

I was quoted a price of 1700.00 repair/new motor. I said no and continued on my trip. The Toyota dealer in my hometown charged me 300.00 for the same repair/new motor upon returning home. Wow. I got the car out for 29 days. After got the car out for almost a month they would call every day and ask for the car back because something happens to the bank financing. After hearing that I left work and return the car right away. They say they would return my deposit if I request for it back or I can come back in 2 weeks.
