Oil pressure was at lowest level and engine seized... then salesmen says, " Used vehicles have to pass a inspection and then they go on the lot" yeah, when was this inspection done? This is the 3rd area Ford dealership I called this rainy Saturday morning to try to get a window regulator fixed so I could roll up my driver's side window and continue my cross-country trip. After inspecting my window, Donna said they didn't have the part but could get one within an hour and a half. The wait was preferable to rolling along the interstate while having rain blow in my face, so I settled into the comfortable waiting area. Great coffee, TV, magazines, snack machine. All employees I encountered were friendly and helpful. By 10:30 a.m. I was on my way again! I think the price was fair, and an extra star for being willing to help a traveler a thousand miles from home-- unlike the first two Ford dealers I called. read more

My fiancée had spoken to the salesman on the phone and told him we had no money to put down at this time, he said it was no pet to fill out credit application online come in and and he would have cars for us to choose from he could get us approved for. We got there that night he handed my fiancée a credit app to fill out and said we need this first he had not even looked at the one he had filled out online. He told him I did this online as you asked me to to he said oh ok let me check walked away came back and said we can't do anything without a $ 1000 down. My husband and I went in today for a appointment to look at a truck. When we called we specifically said we wanted a USED CHEVY! They had many on the lot so we began to search. The car salesman was extremely kind and nice however the dealership its self is extremely shady. They ran our credit, told us what we were accepted for. They told us we were approved for a FORD expedition. There was a Chevy on the lot for the same exact price as the Ford. They wouldn't work with us or even.allow us to look at rhe truck. If we didnt take the Ford that was that. Now, YES, I understand this is a FORD dealership however we told them from the door what we were looking for. We drove a hour to see these Chevys they promised would be there and would put us in. Instead they tried to shove this Ford on us. Oh and FYI they wanted 7,000$ for the SUV. It v had 150,000 miles on it and was in poor condition. My husband went for a truck and they tried to sell us a Lemon. We shall be dealing with anyone eles at this point. They wont negotiate on any prices and wont help you in any way to get you in the vehicle ypu want. If I could give zero stars I would. The salesman we dealt with deserved a much better work environment than that place. read more

I have had numerous issues with this dealership. A few years ago, my husband and I were looking to purchase a new compact SUV. On my first visit, I went with my father. A salesman took us around to the various vehicles that matched our criteria. The entire time, the salesman seemed disconnected and distracted. Clearly, he had something more important on his mind. Against my initial impressions of the business, I returned with my husband. We had $15k to put down on a new vehicle. The same salesman wouldn't even give us the time of day. At that time, I wrote a review about Bob Ruth Ford. Wouldn't you know it, Rob Ruth contacted me regarding my review. He explained that they are trying to grow their business... "but the effort has not been without growing pains." I updated my review to reflect our conversation. I took him for his word that Bob Ruth Ford was looking to make improvements. Well, my brother purchased a car from them since then. Within a month, the locking system started to malfunction. In two months, the car would not lock at all. I contacted Rob Ruth and received no response. So here is my review... I would not recommend this dealer to anyone. They have horrible customer service, they will not stand by their vehicles, and their radio jingle is downright annoying. Previous REVIEW: Since writing my initial review, I was contacted by Bob Ruth Ford. Advertise vehicles online and in print ads, then when you go to see them, those vehicles are always magically gone... no matter how soon you get there after seeing something added.... then they try the bait and switch. We purchased a 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ from Bob Ruth Ford last week. I can, without hesitation, say that it was the best car buying experience I have ever had. We live in Baltimore, but I saw a few options for us on their website after our truck was totaled. Diane Mitchell worked with me online for a couple days. Very upfront and clear and provided disclosure documents on the "As-Is" vehicle we were interested in so there would be no surprises. We arrived at the dealership a half hour before they opened and were promptly greeted by Ron Rosen. Ron and his team have earned a lifelong family of customers. He was honest and upfront about the as is vehicles and listened to what we were looking for. A stable vehicle with a particular down payment and monthly payments. Ron worked with Keith Palmer in Finance to get our approval. Mind you, I had been to a dealer in Baltimore two days before and they couldn't do it. They stated that my credit score was almost 40 points lower than what Keith was seeing. They wanted almost twice what I was willing to put down and payments $50 over what I had said I needed. Ron came back to me within 30 minutes with the down I wanted and the monthly payments we needed. No hassle, back and forth, just honest: this is what we can do. They got us with a prime lender at a very decent rate. Ron then said he had a vehicle he thought we would be interested in. I'll be honest that a Malibu is not something we ever would have thought to look at....but...this one is beautiful. Fully loaded, black on black with all the bells and whistles. My husband loved it. Monica did all of our paperwork and was a true pleasure to work with. Her friendly demeanor makes the whole sign her sign there experience fun and quick. I recently bought a 2009 civic si from bob ruth ford and after a 4 hour beat down from their sales team we settled on a price which included them servicing a few things on the car. They told me they would replace all the lights, brakes and a fresh inspection, and let me tell you how that went...Head lights were not replaced, one of the fog lights DIDN'T EVEN WORK when I brought it home the next day granted these are all easy fixes and wasn't worth my time to go back to Dillsburg to deal with them. The thing is when I bought one of my other vehicles from a used car lot they weren't even as bad as these guys. my recommendation is to STAY AWAY!!!!! these guys are only worried about the sale not making sure they have a strong brand to sell with a good reputation. read more

I had a excellent experience with Bob Ruth Ford. I live out of state so I needed extra help when inquiring about a particular vehicle. Pete was fantastic with communication and the rest of the staff was competent and efficient. They were friendly, easy going and in no way pushy. Overall the whole experience easy. I knew exactly what I wanted. A red Scion FR-S with a 6 speed manual transmission and a spoiler. All that remained was the right price with low miles. This is not a common car so I expanded my search to include the whole East coast. Many of the ones on sites such as CarMax were over $20,000. That was more than I wanted to pay. I spend about a month looking for the 'right' car. When I saw my dream car online at Bob Ruth listed at $16,699 with only 17,000 miles on it I was highly interested. I sent an email and Pete got back to me the next business day. I explained that I was a six hour drive away. I had several specific questions about the car. He answered all of my questions same day via text, call or email. I said "ok, I can be there when you open in two days. Can you PLEASE hold the car for me?" Pete put a Sold sign on the vehicle with my name on it. He said "I can hold it till the end of the week just let me know when you're coming." I drove up from North Carolina. The car was just as he said. The interior and exterior was spotless. The engine was solid. We took it out for a test drive and I was love! When we got back to the dealership I was introduced to a nice lady, her name escapes me, but she made the paper work super easy. I dread paper work, was not looking forward to it. But, she was so organized and efficient everything was all wrapped up in maybe twenty minutes. I gave my down payment and was financed for the loan at an excellent APR. I recently dropped my Dodge Ram truck off for a free oil change and free inspection. I bought the truck last year from them an put almost 10k miles on it. It runs great no problems whatsoever! Loren Rhoad called me in the afternoon with bad news! He said his technician, Scott Livingston, found a cracked rear brake pad lining and rotors can be resurfaced. I know something had to be wrong with the caliper or something to cause a crack in the pad. So I wanted to know the warranty on the replacement pads. Loren said 1year! Hmmmm Ok how much to do work? $271.10 + tax! I was not happy! Nope I want to see this for myself! I checked out pads this morning and could not find anything! So, I called Monro, who has lifetime warranty on pads(just a little heads up boy wonder), told them the situation and Kevin said drop it off. The technician took the pads off and could not find anything wrong( he even showed Greg the mgr). So they put them back on and passed my inspection. The rotors were also fine, you can't resurface rotors boys sorry! read more

I had purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 super crew lariat at Bob Ruth in December of 2015. My purchase experience was smooth getting what I felt was a fair deal on my truck which was still under the factory 36,000 mile warranty. I took my time making a decision and showed up 30 minutes prior to close, but Ray and the sales department allowed me to take the truck home for the night and to finish up the paperwork the following day. I had to haggle for a full tank of gas, and was told that preowned vehicles by dealership practice only got a half a tank. You would think buying a $30k truck you would get a full tank? Ray again was more than accommodating and filled my tank up. By the time April 2016 rolled around I was back at the dealership for a loud A/C noise. And was told that the compressor needed to be repaired. I asked for the dealership to contact Ford as my warranty had just expired within 1,200 miles. Ford denied any claims as I was not the original owner. Totally disappointing! However the service department made arrangements with the dealership owner to split the $800 repair bill 50/50 between the dealership and myself. I was satisfied. Further accommodations were made to get me in a loaner vehicle while the repair was made. So far I have been pleased and hope to continue to receive the customer service that Bob Ruth has been providing. read more

Decided to take a chance after our 1st experience was less then positive when the salesperson couldn't even find where or how to jump start a battery. Did not purchase from them but this time, had several vehicles we were interested in. Had made a deal to purchase a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. We agreed that the car was to be detailed and scratches and scuffs were to be treated as best as possible. We specifically told the salesman, Corey M., that we had a time constraint on pick-up and that the vehicle and paperwork had to be ready at our appointment time. Well long story short, salesman projected little confidence as he had to ask someone every time we asked a question. The vehicle was not ready to be delivered and their idea of a pre-delivery detailing was hosing off the car. The inside still had dirt and the scratches were touched up with a touch paint that did not match, making them even more noticeable. We caught the salesman in multiple lies (i.e. they are losing money on this vehicle because it's a loss leader-yeah, right. A Ford dealer is going to have a Chevy as a loss leader and they had about 6 Equinox's in stock; He said there was a balance on the 5 year warranty but the bumper to bumper warranty was only 3 years; and when asked he said that the car was on the lot for 2 weeks. Car Fax showed it for 2 1/2 months). We had to ask a different sales manager for the promised $25 gift card as Corey never followed up even though his favorite phrase is "no worries" when asked about it. The building is in need of a make-over. Appears not to have been upgraded for decades. FYI-this was not from their "Good Luck" lot; it was a $19,000 vehicle. read more

I used the internet to locate a vehicle at Bob Ruth Ford. I spoke with someone thought the phone/ internet department at the dealership and we worked out a deal. I had financing lined up before going so that we could make an easy transaction but before we drove the 2 hours and 20 minutes down to the dealership from our home I made sure to call and speak to the salesman and confirm that he car was in good condition and that our financing was good to go. We were going to purchase a 2017 Kia Sedona with 31,000 miles. When we arrived at the dealership they had just got it cleaned up. We asked that it be moved into a garage bay so that we could look at it better. I had already explained to the salesman that we are VERY thorough when we look over a vehicle and if there were any concerns please tell me. That was not done. There were scratches several places in the clear coat that could have been buffed out by the service department, a large area on the plastic front bumper where the paint was off down to the plastic, a scratch on the bumper that went onto the passenger side fender down to the metal that could have been touched up, and a large cut in the leather interior of the second row on the driver's side. The rationale given for all of these oversights was that the salesperson was just "thrown onto the sale at the last minute". In all actuality they had OVER 24 hours notice that we were traveling and I had called to confirm that everything had been looked over on Wednesday morning. Not only did I waste my time to travel 4.5 hours round trip but also the cost of fuel and a babysitter for our two small children made this trip especially frustrating. This lack of good customer service is not only a reflection on the individual salesperson but one on the ENTIRE dealership. I would not recommend anyone dealing with them. read more

In Summer 2018 I purchased a 2006 Ford Taurus because the place was highly recommended by a family member. The car was a little more expensive than I was looking for, but I was willing to pay more because they assured me that they had inspected it THAT WEEK. Higher price in exchange for no issues seemed like a fair deal to me. On cars this old, they will not supply any kind of warranty. Again, because I had been promised that it had just been inspected, I accepted this. Less than a month later, my car wouldn't start and was burning through oil and gas. Needs a new Mass Airflow Sensor. It was expensive to replace, and I wasn't happy about it. I called in and they told me that since I bought it without a warranty, it was my problem. I also noticed that the windshield wipers jumped and clearly had not been replaced anytime recently, and as soon as I drove off the lot, one of the back windows stopped opening. A few weeks after that, my exhaust system completely fell off. The catalytic converter needed replaced. I had to get my car towed. I called and complained and they said that they sell these without warranties because they "don't know what the driver will do" and "don't have a crystal ball" (essentially blaming me for a mechanical failure that almost certainly formed prior to my owning the car). Five days after replacing that, the check engine light came on, the car was shaking when idling, and it could barely accelerate. Turns out the last person who owned it replaced the ignition wire improperly and never removed the old one, causing the new one to be misplaced and melt. This certainly should have been seen during an inspection. I don't know anything about cars and once I looked into the engine myself I could tell that there wasn't supposed to be a cut wire just hanging out in there. Went to a new mechanic, got that fixed. Six days after that repair, my check engine light is on again. For anyone keeping track, that is: two major repairs, one minor repair, one worn out part, one mysteriously not working part, and an extra check engine light. I am not convinced they inspected the car at all, let alone as thoroughly as they claimed. And their salespeople (they don't have a customer service department as far as I can tell, because I just keep being transferred to sales) don't care. They got their sale, customer happiness and safety be darned. read more

*two months late*. Went on a whim after looking for a truck. I went down one Friday evening to look at a Chevy Silverado. The second I got on the lot I didn't have more than 2 minutes to look at the truck. Was greeted and then asked to come inside to discuss some details. Once I was seated the salesman asked why I was looking at a truck. After I explained why he asked to run my credit to look at trucks which was odd. Once I declined he said he couldn't show me any trucks until my credit was pulled to make sure I was serious about a potential buy. After, he brought up the idea of an suv which wasn't what I wanted and almost seemed like he cornered me to looking at another vehicle I didn't want. He asked to run my credit three times total JUST to go back outside to look at a truck. I said I was leaving and he said he would talk to his manager, came back and said his manager agreed with pulling credit just to look at trucks. Ended up leaving after driving an hour to dealership. I ended up getting what seemed like an apology from some manager and said if we came back he'd help me and my wife directly once she met me there. We went back and no one came out to help, even made it known we were there. Left , and went to another Ford dealer to pick up a truck with a more smooth and friendly less intimidating process. Needless to say I will never go back, or refer a friend to buy from here. Just poor salesmen and experience. read more

Never buy a vehicle from Bob Ruth Ford. Read on. My experience with Bob Ruth Ford started off great back in January 2020. It is a significant distance from my home so I was judicious about making multiple trips. Of course, when it came time to sign for the deal, my trade in value had decreased significantly ("usual bait and switch?"). We came to an agreement and I took delivery in mid February. Then the troubles started. Because I live in MD, we have TWO license plates. The sales guy told me he put the plates in my car. When I arrived home I had ONLY ONE !! He never looked at the front of the car "because PA only has one plate" !! Give me a break !! I only received ONE remote - yes TWO keys. They told me they promised two KEYS not two remotes !! Wow, they must be lawyers in their spare time. Then the car FAILED MD inspection and I had to install all new front rotors (the car passed PA inspection in DEC 2019 and had only driven 25 miles since then - rotors went bad in 25 miles ???). My transmission guys then cited numerous costly repairs - CV boot, trans cooler lines, new radiator. But, oh, I said, I paid the $2500 for extended warranty to Bob Ruth. I contacted Bob Ruth's service manager - he said some of that should be covered under the extended warranty. The transmission guys filed a claim and I was offered $65 by the warranty company for the $1000+ repair. Never again Bob Ruth - this car will remind me for a long time how I was mislead and mistreated by this dealership. Never again. read more

We had looked at vehicles in four states before driving two hours from DC up to Dillsburg, PA, first to test drive, and then again to pick up the vehicle. Our contact both online and in person was Aaron. We had initially overlooked this dealership, because we did not see their listings in eBay motors or autotrader, before we saw them on cars.com. The vehicle had close to the full set of options we wanted at what looked like a (for us) reasonable cost. I was a bit apprehensive about some negative reviews, and I did not want to drive two hours just to get a bait-and-switch of either vehicle or price. At my request, Aaron sent a detailed invoice before our visit, and not only did it list the lowest fees of any dealership we had spoken to (just the basics; no extra charges for what should be included as overhead), but by the time we were done, we had paid not a penny more! The vehicle had a few scratches and dings that Aaron took the initiative to photograph and send us prior to our visit. We were not at all dismayed, because we were counting on a few cosmetic defects to get the price down to an affordable range for us, but what we did not expect was that after pointing out all the little glitches, Aaron offered to have them buffed out at no charge! When we returned to close the deal, what had been minor blemishes were now practically invisible. We had also noticed a faint whiff of what we thought might have been tobacco, which others might not even have perceived, (we're very sensitive to smoke), and Aaron offered to run a second deodorization, which, again, was both complementary and effective! The story did not end after we brought the car home: even though we had formally signed off on any expectation of continued support from the dealership, we found two defects in the coming days; Aaron immediately sent a replacement part for one of them, which I had said I could fix myself, and he offered to pay for us to have the other fixed at a repair shop local to us. Throughout, Aaron has been kind, generous, transparent, and direct: he listened to our needs, met them all, and did not once try to sell us anything we had not requested. The whole experience was a contrast with some other dealers we had visited, who made a bad impression by being impatient, inattentive, trying to blame us for problems they had caused, or adding questionable fees. While it was a coincidence that this dealer had the vehicle we had been looking for at the right price, Bob Ruth Ford's exemplary customer service enabled us to happily take ownership of it without any grumbling or regrets! I took my ford here for a diagnostic test because the engine had shut off a couple times and I didn't know why. The vehicle is old and I didn't know if it would be time to get a new car so I thought to just have a diagnostic test ran on it, find out what was wrong and go from there. They get back to me saying it was one part, they allow me to fix it for $350, then they call me back to tell me there's another part that needs fixed and that bumped my price up to $500, then they call again saying they fixed that part but now another one needs fixed and they think the computer in my vehicle is failed/failing and that'll be more than the cars value. I only wanted to know what was wrong with it and if it was a little couple hundred dollar fix then that'd be cool. I don't like how they didn't tell me everything right from the start and that I wasted $500 dollars I could've saved towards a new car. read more
