Bob Weller quoted me a prive of $240 to come and tune my old upright piano. When he started, he complimented the condition of the piano. He said it had long strings, which made for good sound. He worked for about 45 minutes. When done, instead of the $240, he raised the price to $330, almost $100 over the initial price. Whatever extra service he thought justified the price increase, it did not include anything except time, which, as I mentioned, was 45 minutes in total. The kicker is that the top ten keys of the piano sound worse than before he "tuned" them. I called him once, and he said he was sick. He hung up on me. I called him a second time, and he said he resented my criticizing his work, he suggested it was my hearing, he suggested I buy a new piano, and no, he would not come and see if he could fix anything without charging me. I called to have our piano tuned. It's a "WINTER"piano. My mom has had it since she was a child, about a 60 year old instrument. Bob was super easy to communicate with, easy to schedule. He arrived exactly on time. When he came in the house, he had his own mask. I was ready to get one for him, I was happy to see he was considering safety. I felt very safe having him in our home. Flaked same day. I had an appointment all set up confirmed via email and he said that he had renegotiate the time. Never called me to see if I got the email to confirm or deny whether or not he was coming. My advice to you is to get some scheduling software so it doesn't happen to the next person. Bob came to my home to tune my piano. Quoted me 175. In the end he requested 275 which i accepted and wrote him a check for. The very next day i contacted Bob to notify him i am still having issue with one key. He said he couldnt help me snd hung up! I called back as i also wanted him to know there is now another issue which i DID NOT have prior to Bob tuning the piano but because he hung up on me i never had to chance to tell him. I left a vmail. I had my friend call as Bob continued to ignore my calls. Bob told my friend he cannot help me because i did not pay him. This is a flat out lie! I wrote him and handed him a check for $275.00. This is unprofessional to hang up on people. I do not expect him to correct the one key which was sticking, however he rid STATE the HE HAD corrected it. False! But i do want him to resolve the F key now sounding like two keys when you play that note! Something that i did not have as an issue prior. I expected Bob to at least be civil. For eighteen years, Bob Weller tuned Proxy Music Productions' Yamaha C-7 Grand Piano. Bob treated the C-7 like it was his very own. It later became his. Because of Bob's incredible piano tuning skills our Yamaha C-7 became one of the most desired pianos for recording, especially jazz. Most of the really great jazz piano players of Southern California recorded on that piano and Bob was a big reason for it. Bob had this special skill of tuning the piano according to what kind of music was to be recorded. His knowledge of music and his wonderful playing skill were instrumental in his tuning results. I asked Bob Weller to update his public comment, as our appointment was not a case of mistaken identity as he claimed, however, he has yet to do so, even after admitting that he did in fact recall coming to my house and seeing my piano once we exchanged some private messages on Yelp. Initially, I wasn't planning on responding to him in the first place since he had zero sense of urgency and didn't respond to my first review I left in February of 2017 until March of 2018, but I decided to respond back after reading his public comment that contains incorrect information that I am waiting for him to fix before I'll remove this comment. Although Bob provided me with some additional information that may help me locate someone else who can perform the tuning, his efforts in getting back to me sooner after my review would have warranted a different outcome regarding the rating I originally left him on his Yelp page but it seems like being thorough and having a sense of urgency are not important to him. read more

During the course of this time he has made regulation adjustments, hammer voicing, parts recommendation improvements that have made my piano both play, and sound astonishing. The last suggestions and installation have wildly exceeded my expectations. I never thought my 80+ year-old piano could ever reach this level of performance.
