I've heard that this place has a reputation of being called "Robbers and Thieves". I laughed. I shouldn't have laughed. I had 2 symptoms: a scraping noise and a "maint req" light. I was called and told that I needed new brake pads and rotors. I assumed that this recommendation was for the scraping noise or the maintenance light since I didn't ask for anything to be done with the brakes. Bad assumption. They took it upon themselves to take advantage of the opportunity and to sell me services I didn't ask for. Then they took it even farther and told me I needed new calipers (for the brake pads and rotors I didn't ask for)...oh, and by the way, everything was torn apart so i couldn't take it elsewhere at this point. The total bill was over $2000. oh, and the scraping noise? they finally told me afterwards that it was a heat shield scraping against something -- easily fixed and had nothing to do with the brakes. And the maint light? it just due for an oil change. That could have been resolved with $99 but they tried to sell me another $1400 of services to replace an ABS wiring harnness and noted there was an error code for that. i finally recognized the pattern and declined this make-believe nonsense. I have elected to take the vehicle elsewhere for the oil change service. Who knows what other mysterious ailments they discover opening the hood!!! read more

I came here to top off my rental car's gas tank before returning it. I was in the area for lunch and stopped by after I fuelled myself up. This BP seems to be a part of Bobby and Steve's Auto World. You can get your car fixed, tires changed, gas pumped, and munchies satisfied all at one convenient location. It's across from a shopping plaza with a Target. If I were getting my car fixed, I'd be fine shopping across the street for hours. BP pumps are friendly towards Canadian credit cards. Normally, I insert mine and it prompts for a ZIP code. Ugh! This pump did not. I was related! I paid at the pump and all went well. Easy breezy. There were a number of gas pumps that were available. This station was clean. I had a great experience here. I brought my car in for an oil change today. It took them an hour to do it. That's asinine! I'm not even a mechanic and I can change the oil in my car in a half an hour including the cleanup. I kept looking out the window every ten minutes, and the car was in the bay, but no one was working on it for a while. After the oil change was done, they tried to recommend a bunch of expensive work that doesn't need to be done. I'm so tired of that! The only reason I brought it there was because I don't have a place to do it myself. There was another time I set an appointment and spoke to Neil. I asked him to send me an estimate by email. I didn't receive it. I called back later and talked to someone else. The guy didn't listen to me. He sent me an appointment confirmation, and no estimate. I needed to get one of my headlights replaced on my Escape! It went out on Tuesday. Tried to get it replaced at Ford twice where I usually go too. They told me I needed an appointment, and they were booked 2 weeks out! I drove to Bobby and Steves EP and asked if I could schedule an appointment to get my headlight and 1 of my parking lots replaced! I was told I didn't need an appointment that he could get me in right now! My Escape was set to go in less than an hour! Will be coming back to Bobby and Steves with my Escape! Stopped in just for a car wash. Bought the most expensive "lava wash" (which wasn't very good leaving water spots all over the truck) The wash snapped off my original equipment antenna. Manager said they don't cover that. I can see not covering aftermarket equipment, but if your wash is taking off so many original equipment antennas, it's an issue with the wash not antennas. read more

I've been bringing my cars here for decades and the remodeled site is super nice! One of my favorite things is the fountain out front: a bronze old-time service station man holding an endlessly flowing gas pump! Genius. So today they had my baby, my 2001 Mustang Bullitt, for some maintenance. Every time I bring the Bullitt in, owner Randy warns me they'll have to hang onto it for a few months to make sure it's working right! LOL! Everybody wants to drive the race car... :D I've always found the staff to be super friendly and very knowledgeable. Their prices might be a little higher, but cars are worth the investment to keep them purring along. I haven't spent much time in the waiting area because I live close by and usually have someone who can run me home. However, it is bright, clean, and appealing and the food smells delicious. I got my Bullitt back freshly washed, oil changed, tires checked and balanced, a new battery (free because I bought the last one there and they offer a lifetime warranty) and did not even dent the bank. They just held a Grand Opening at this station. This is a great example of High Quality Service and Facility with the cost associated with it. The facility and people are so nice and knowledgeable you cannot believe you are in a gas and convenience store. You simply have to stop by and see this place as words do not describe it. First off, didn't think I would be writing a review on a gas station, but I have come to really appreciate this gas station. I grew up in Eden Prairie, so I know what the area is like and this gas station is the nicest of them all. Even now being a few years old, it still looks brand new. The management staff takes excellent care of their customers and of the location. The only reason I didn't do a 5 star is because the hours of their "restaurant" is so limited it is never open on the weekends or at night when I visit the location. I hear its good, but not sure why it can't be open later. read more

I have been going to Bobby & Steve's for years. For gas, to get my car fixed or just to get a car wash. Not only is the station itself nice with it's throwback 50's themed decor, the staff is really friendly. This summer they even had themed picnic lunch days. Whatever I have needed they have done as quickly as they can (and usually right away) with great service. This morning I needed a jump because I left my keys in my car last night and drained my battery. They were here within an hour with a portable charger so there was no need to even tow my car out of my garage - it was started within a few seconds. I am always disappointed when I hear people rip on this place for something trivial. Trust me when I tell you I have been a customer there for years and they will be my go to place as long as they are around. read more

Car maintenance review - I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, not expecting them to even be open or accepting walk-ups. They were able to change my oil and rotate my tires under a very reasonable $30/sale price. It did take pretty long, an hour - but they have a very nice waiting area including satellite TVs and couches. I will likely be back here for basic and even more advanced car needs. read more

Immediately after picking up my daughter from the daycare across the street from Bobby & Steve's, I found that my car would not start due to a dead battery. I called Bobby & Steve's, with little expectation that they would be able to help, and to my surprise one of their employees walked across the street and had my car going in less than 5 minutes. I should've gotten his name, but he was extremely polite and professional, and I couldn't be more grateful. It was 2° outside with windchill, and I had my 2 year old daughter in my car with me. This is one of the worst gas stations I have visited. I've been there three times over the last couple years and won't be going back. The pumps are consistently either busted, or won't accept a card and require prepay. (The two on the end nearest the service center let you pay inside.) I have never seen squeegees to wash my windows (yes, this is very important in Minnesota winters), or paper towels to check fluids. Getting in there to get gas is a pain. There always seems to be a tow truck or parts vehicle parked there making getting out a multiple point turn. Honestly, I cannot speak to the service center. However, when they won't provide the very minimum at the pumps, there is no way I would trust them to touch my vehicle. If corners are cut on the most basic part of their business... I should note that the times I have been there, the clerks have been polite. Unfortunately, that's just not enough in a cutthroat industry to get me back. read more

Have been going here for years, dropped thousands of dollars on all kinds of work. Went in last week for an oil change, get a call back saying I need new rear brakes. I give the OK and $500 later I'm on my way. Over the weekend I hear a screeching sound coming from the rear when i'm coming to a stop. Stopped in this morning to have them take a look at it, get a call back a couple hours later, and now I apparently need: - New rear left and right calipers - $400 - New rear sway bar bushing - $175 - New struts(!) - $930 (!!!) - New shocks(!) - $350 (!!!) - Alignment for all the new stuff - $100 So in short, I came in to have them look at something that WASN'T happening with previous brakes before they installed new ones, only to have them quote me over $2,000 in new work! Needless to say I won't be returning...which is a bummer since they're local and seemed to be trustworthy over all the years I've been with them. read more

After having so many issues with Bobby and Steve's, I decided to review all the complaints online which many sound similar to my experiences... Issue 1 of 2: AUGUST 2018 This summer I purchased their unlimited car wash being it convenient for me as I just purchased a 2016 GMC Sierra Denali from a GM dealership, less then month I owned the vehicle. I proceeded through the car wash like any other time, as I entered the rinse section of the car wash the blower motor on the bottom right failed. The blower motor started shaking and bouncing on the support beam as it broke apart causing shards of metal particles to damage the entire right side of the vehicle; MANY chips and one dent (My Daughter was with and was hysterical). The E-stop was not pressed because the worker at the front had head phones on and the loud surrounding noises interfered with hear failing motor (The younger gentleman working has always been great, not his fault). I contacted the operator after the incident to prevent him from sending more cars through. Once I made contact, he immediately shut the car was down, but I was not greeted for 15 mins by management as I stood there waiting for assistance. At this point the blower motor could not be fixed because the entire aluminum blower impeller broke apart along with the retaining mesh at the end of the blower (Prevent debris from shooting out) had broken apart as the material shot out at my truck. Finally, Gary the "Service Manager" greeted me and wanted me to go through the car wash again. I had questioned if the motor was shut off?? He said, "yes... "Well it was not, and you could still here the fins of the impeller banging around in the housing. I pulled around to inspect my truck because at this point I could finally see my truck as there was no more debris from the blower motor previously coating it with particles. I noted the damage to Gary that my truck was damaged... Right away he said, "We are not going to do anything, bye" and proceeded to walk away. I was furious at this point that he disregarded the situation. My $45,000 truck just was damage due to equipment malfunction in your car wash and you aren't going to assist?? I understand things happen but to leave in demeanor as such to include deny any assistance after a significant amount of damage just happen is simply astonishing. The ENTRANCE sign stats (ALTHOUGH OUR WASH IS VERY SAFE, WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: Antennas, Loose Moldings, Non-Factory Installed Items, or Damage due to Driver Negligence), please tell me how I was negligent while completing the car was.... Gary was very aggressive and kept approaching me with his fist clinched as he wanted to get physical. I decided to leave the property and contact the police department in hopes to get an incident report for my insurance company. At this point because it was private property they said there was not much they could do, and I would have to pursue small claims. I contacted my insurance company and they tried contacting Robby and Thieves as they had gotten verbally aggressive with my insurance adjuster and said, "they would not do anything". Finally, Gary contacted my insurance adjuster and immediately said he was not going to do anything, after several minutes of arguing and finding himself to be in the wrong, he agreed to pay out of pocket to fix the damages on my vehicle. I proceeded to try and contact Gary MANY MANY TIMES to be told he was not in, he was off, he was out in the parking lot to include never returning my messages as I had left for him. TO THIS DATE MY TRUCK STILL HAS THE DAMAGE AND I HAVE THE PICTURES OF THE DAMAGED BLOWER MOTOR AND THE NEW INSTALLED BLOWER MOTOR FOR VERIFICATION THE MOTOR WAS BEYOND REPAIR. read more

Very unprofessional management of damage to my car caused by Bobby & Steve's towing company. My car was towed due to a snow emergency on a Friday night. I called Saturday morning immediately when I realized my car had been towed. I was not informed that my car had been damaged during this phone call. I was going out of town until Sunday so they told me I could pick it up on Sunday but was told to call at least 1 hour ahead of pick up so they could get my car out of the impound lot in St Louis Park. I called at 2pm on Sunday when I got back into town but they were closed. They failed to mention on the phone that they would be open for only 2 hours that Sunday (9am-11am). I called at 8am on Monday morning to get my car. I was then informed over the phone that the bumper on my car had been "cracked" during the towing process and that they were going to fix the damage at no cost to me. I needed a rental car while the damage was being fixed so I was sent to the Eden Prairie Bobby & Steve's location to pick up the replacement car. The first rental car was a minivan with multiple dents and a damaged front bumper. I was never asked to sign any papers to drive this rental. The roads were slick from ice and I felt uncomfortable driving a car I didn't not have to sign a release for so I asked for a replacement rental. I was then given a Suzuki. When I traded the first rental for the replacement car it was EMPTY on gas and FILTHY. Dirt, salt, crumbs, chapstick, wrappers, pine tree needles, and a container with a razor blade were clearly visible in the car when I got it. I took pictures of the gas tank and the interior condition for documentation. I informed the owner about how dirty the car was and that I had to fill the car up myself. He reassured me "everything will be taken care of at no expense to me". Meanwhile, my car is at an auto repair place of their choosing. I did not feel comfortable with them doing auto body work on my car without seeing the "crack" for myself. I went to go see the damage before giving permission to fix it. Turns out the "crack" was my entire bumper hanging off the car and a flat front right tire. The estimate for damages from their repair company of choosing was $1000 not including a new tire. After further investigation and questioning I decided to take my car to my own repair shop and bill the owner of the towing company. Additional internal damage was found from the bumper being torn off than the initial inspection from the first repair place. The owner was more than willing to pay the bill that ended up costing $2500. However, when I went to return the rental car, the Bobby and Steve's Auto Repair worker refused to reimburse me for the gas. He said he was not responsible for putting gas into the vehicles they lease to customers. I showed him the following Minnesota statue: Subd. 6.Damages. The owner or driver of a motor vehicle towed in violation of this section is entitled to recover from the towing authority the greater of $100 or two times the actual damages sustained as a result of the violation. Damages recoverable under this subdivision include but are not limited to costs of recovering the vehicle, including time spent and transportation costs. His response was "where do you see the word gas or fuel in that sentence?" I responded with "transportation cost" and he said "gas does not apply to that category." I spent over 5 hours tracking down my car, driving to the Eden Prairie location, and taking hours off of work to see my car during the auto places business hours. But apparently the law did not apply to my situation. I saved my receipts and ask for the owner to call me back to talk about refunding my gas, like he said he would. I never got a call or message from him. Although the owner paid for all the damage repair bill (with the exception of me paying for an additional tire to match the one they had to replace),I am extremely disappointed with the way they handled the communication of damaging my car. They changed their story several times as to how my car was damaged during the process of towing my car. I needed an oil change so I dropped my car off before the start of my shift this morning. I have done this a few times since working in Eden Prairie and I had always had satisfactory experiences. I even went into work today after dropping it off and praised them for their prompt and friendly service. Today, however, changed my mind completely. Upon callback, they indicated to me that my tires were worn and needed to be rotated, which, on payday, was fine. I was headed to Duluth after work and it made sense to spend $20 to take one more precaution. I receive another call an hour later indicating that the back brakes needed to be replaced and "were at 90% worn". When I asked if I could still drive it off the lot, the representative said no and that they "were shot." I hesitantly agreed to the work because I felt like I wasn't given a choice on the repairs. Typically, I have a friend that lives about 25 miles from Eden Prairie who works on my car on bigger issues. Partially because of the cost, but the trust I have in him chiefly. Had they given me the option, I would have taken the car there. Even after the brakes were fixed, they continued to find issues and were more than willing to "write up quotes" on even more things. Thankfully, I was able to decline those without feeling pressured. I picked up my car, paid my bill and swore that I will never visit that establishment again. I am usually not one to review companies, even if I felt like I had been wronged, and a $30 oil change turned into a $460 bill at an auto shop isn't unheard of, but I felt obligated on this one to warn other potential customers in my position to make their stance clear in order to avoid having to deal with this headache. Some companies are like this, and, as nice as they might be, you cannot trust them. I gave them one star because I can't give them less and have it register. read more

Their word isn't good. Absolutely the worst customer service of any service station with whom I've done business. I initially went there solely because they offered lifetime top-offs on nitrogen for tires. Their machine broke, and only after months of calling to check to see if it was repaired yet, I was told they chose to simply not fix it. Not a bad deal for them. Take a customer's money and then discontinue the service. I asked for a refund of my money, since it wasn't my fault, but was refused. I was then transferred to a Scott in service. He also refused, and followed with some less than professional comments, to which I told him him I felt this represented very poor customer service. His succinct response, "Thank you," and he promptly hung up on me. Regardless the issue, what kind of business treats customers this way? I was in and out in 10 minutes, free of charge and Bob even offered some great advice on how to keep my vehicle healthy. Will definitely be using them again with any car needs! read more

I first went here to get an oil change on special. Guys did a fabulous job. I waited about an hour considering I went at the height of the after-work rush, but the facility inside is comfortable and spacious, so I was able to read the paper and wait for my name to be called on the intercom system. Afterwards, they were kind enough to go over the inspection with me and even gave me a couple of quotes for items they think I needed done on my car. I thanked them and shoved the quotes into my glove box. Second time around, went for another oil change and a tire rotation. Again, waited just over an hour because it was after work and everyone else and their mother's were there. And again, went over the inspection and more quotes for things that I hadn't fixed from the last time I was there. So here's my problem: as I was driving home on Hwy. 169, all of a sudden there was this horrible sound coming from my car. I've never been "that person" on the freeway. Thankfully, I was near my home when this happened. I whipped into the driveway and immediately looked under the car. The fools had not screwed the undercarriage cover on all the way from changing the oil and just by driving it, it loosened the other screws causing it to fall down and scrape on the highway the whole way home. Called to see if I could swing by another day so they could actually screw it back on and they told me that it shouldn't be an issue. But when I went to go do that, I was told there would be a small service and/or labor fee to do so...even though it wasn't my fault that they didn't put it back correctly in the first place. I refused to pay so I left. The cover is still sitting in my garage. I guess I have to stop going to chain auto-mechanics and instant oil change places because they always screw me over. read more

My roadside assistance called these guys for me for a tire change. The guy who came out was great! The call was to change out my tire for a spare...or so I thought. Apparently my brand new Kia didn't come with a spare! What the hell?! Anyways, he towed me to the closest tire shop without making me call and adjust the claim, then made sure to explain the tire situation to the guy at the front desk. I had my AC fixed there. They said the estimate is 169 and it is going to take 1 hour to fix it,I said okay and i can wait. after 90 minutes, when i asked why it is taking so much time, one representative said, wire which is connected to AC is thin and said he is cutting the thin part and joining both ends. I said okay. they took 2 and half hours and billed me 260 dollars saying that they charged for joining the two ends of wire and labor charge. Without informing me, They charged me 100 dollars more which is ridicules. When i asked the same question, that why did you charge extra without informing he, He was very rude and answered , what do you expect?. Terrible customer service This my next review on it and this is for the owner . I don't want your thanks . I Was Told Not the Truth and Then a Run-Around I am a long-time customer of Bobby and Steve's Auto World in Eden Prairie, but never again. I am a resident of Eden Prairie for 19 years, but you will not find me at Bobby and Steve's. I would buy my gas and a car wash there. This last time, in the later evening, I paid inside for my gas and car wash, talking directly to the employee, and she told me to come back in a half hour to use the car wash because the wrecker was being washed at that moment. She said the car wash would be available in a half hour. OK, not as convenient as usual but that seemed reasonable. I came back a half hour later after a quick trip to Walmart, and the wrecker was parked outside the care wash and now finished being washed. However, when I went to wash my car, a yellow chain was blocking the entrance. I went inside and mentioned that, and she said the car wash guy did not show up so the care wash was not in use. What? She just told me it was in use in a half hour. That also seems puzzling because sometimes I use the car wash with a guy using the wash wand and sometimes there is no guy waving the wand. That is not required at that car wash, I believe. So she/they decided to put a yellow chain at the entrance. OK, so I came back two days later to use the care wash, driving out of my way. Unfortunately, I thought I put the receipt in my wallet but it was not there. For the record, I did not agree to buy a code to be used days later that I had to keep track of. I bought a car wash for then, for a half hour after buying it, I was told. So I went home, looked on my end table box where I keep receipts, and it was not there. So I called and expressed that I originally was under the understanding I was buying a car wash that day and would never have bought one for the future. The guy said just to come in and get a new code. So that same night I did go to get my car washed, now the fourth trip. The blonde lady was there again. She questioned me but gave me the code so I could wash my car. So I drived up to the car wash, and you can guess that yet again she or they decided to put the yellow chain blocking entrance to the car wash yet again. I walked in and told her that she told me she was selling me a car wash for a half hour later that day but then that was not the case and now, after four trips, still no car wash. What a hassle. I said I would no longer be doing business there again. She replied, "Good!" And still they have my money for the cash wash I bought that I never received. Right across the street is Target, a block the other way in Walmart, up the road are other car washes, by my home is a car wash, and I have not experienced poor customer service at those places. We live in a free market economy. We live in a world of competition. I as a consumer have every right to share this information for others to consider and vote with my consumer dollars. I still am out the money I paid for that car wash. I know from by business studies that marketing people say that it takes a certain amount of money to gain one new customer and so you definitely want to keep your customers, especially long-time customers like me. Never again. I vote with my dollars and it will not be Bobby and Steve's. read more

We utilized their towing services on Easter Sunday. They were friendly on the phone and very kind to us when they came to pick up our car. Jeff, the driver, was good-humored and kept us laughing all the way to our house. Our Easter wasn't ruined all because Bobby & Steve's was open and had great customer service. Had a VERY bad experience with an oil change here. Brought our very late model Honda in in May for an oil change. My husband picked it up and paid 78$. Brings it home and the old sticker from the last place we had brought it to for an oil change was still there. We gave them the benefit of the doubt that they just forgot to update sticker and drove car around. Kept getting more urgent oil change needed alerts, checked the oil level and it was terribly low. This is a very late model car without any leaks. I am convinced we paid for exactly nothing in May. They were busy or understaffed or both- and simply did not do an oil change on our car, but charged us just to move things along. We brought it back and got a big runaround. " Sometimes we forget the sticker" Sometimes we forget to reset the service icons".." maybe you developed an oil leak?" . It was simple theft folks. Never going back again. read more

I want to warn everyone not to go here. They used to be a decent mechanic but not anymore. My first issue was my old Honda that wasn't starting. They put a new starter in it, and it still wasn't starting right. They told me it was just cold and to let it run for a while. Turns out it was the battery, can't imagine why a mechanic couldn't have told me that instead of billing me for a new starter and installation. My second issue came when I brought in my new Lexus for a really loud squeak coming from the back driver tire. I told them that it was squeaking and wanted them to look at it because I was moving 1000 miles and that if it needed a pad swap then they could do it but to call me beforehand so we could talk about the work being done. They called me hours later telling me they did a pad swap because that's what I told them to do. AND they swapped my front brake pads which were at 80%, and did not need to be swapped out, and left my back brakes which were at 30%. Car still squeaked and I owed them more than $300 for a pad swap that was unnecessary. When I called to speak to a manager, the manager told me that if this tech wrote on the work order that I said the only thing I wanted done was a pad swap, then that must have been what I said. Completely untrue and I am still unhappy that I got charged that much for something that shouldn't have been done and was not resolved. read more

Still have to wait and see what the final damage is but they seem to have trouble hearing at this place. When my tires blew out, they sent a tow truck to the wrong place. Had to wait a bit to get towed. Plus side they gave me a car to use so I could go to work. However they didn't do any work on my car because they apparently got the wrong number-despite calling me earlier. So I was told they would need an hour and a half to two hours to work on the car. Three plus hours later I am still waiting. At least they have a nice waiting area. I'll have to see if they try and nickel and dime me a bit more , but the original problem was one blown tire. They insisted on another. Maybe they were right. Well I guess I'll see. Anyway a mixed bag thus far. The car is a nice thing to get to use but I'd rather they get the job done in the manner they say they will. read more
