Justin the manager was not apologetic and told us to come back another time, did not offer any significant compensation for their oversight. I used to bring my car to Grandview, but now I am done. There have been two times that a simple oil change has cost me time and money. Because the mechanics did not tighten the drain plug, the oil was leaking. I realize that there is a possibility of tightening these too much with the result being stripped threading. However, this drain plug was far too loose. After seeing the leaks in my garage parking spot, I brought my car to a mechanic to examine. (As it turns out, I could not get in to Grandview, so used a different mechanic.) This new mechanic brought this to my attention.  Another car in our family was leaving the same spot in its garage spot. It was the same problem. This car had recently had an oil change at Grandview, and the drain plug was not tightened. I had recommended this business to a new neighbor and I regret that now. He was told by one of the mechanics that his brake pads are too thin. He wasn't sure if that was correct since they'd been serviced recently before his move. He brought his car to a different mechanic that showed him pictures that the pads are fine. I used to believe that they were very trustworthy, and worth their price. I will not return. read more

Beware. I took my car to Grandview for a significant repair. The hourly repair rate of $145/hour is reasonable. It also is fair to assume that shops buy parts from a distributor at a cost less than retail and then charge a retail price to the customer. However, I foolishly trusted that the retail price would be roughly in line with the market. The OEM price for my parts, matched by exact part number, would have been $3812.29 if purchased at retail price from the dealership. Grandview charged me $5541.16, which is 45% over the manufacturer's retail price at the dealership. Grandview uses a "matrix" to determine parts prices and the employee proudly declared that it doesn't matter how much the parts cost at the dealership. My total cost would have been much cheaper at the dealership. So much for trying to support a local business. Don't be foolish enough to trust them. read more

Stopped in today to have my tires rotated (free since I bought them there) and have them check my squeaky brakes. Breaks turned out to be fine and they did the work while I waited - about 20 minutes. On top of this thorough, speedy service, they even vacuumed the car and washed the rubber mats (a great boost to my winter-weary spirit) PLUS they gave me a free car wash (as they do with any service). It was a great surprise to see the clean floor mats and is a great example of their service - oriented approach. These guys are great - friendly, helpful, no high-pressure sales pitches, just honest, old fashioned values. Give them a try. read more

My check engine light came on car started sputtering at every stop I came to, called Grandview Tire and Auto; said I could bring it in but probably wouldn't get to it til next morning so I did. My brakes were so bad, I was afraid to drive my SUV & had an appt. scheduled with Grandview this last Tuesday, October 18th. I actually dropped my car off on Monday since the brakes were metal on metal & had no interest in driving it like that. They actually got my car in on Monday, got all the brake parts in & had it fixed by the end of the day. Literally a whole day early! What a relief that was. Awful experience. I was in for an oil change and asked the tech to put air put in the spare tire so the low light would go off. The tire is easy to access and created little extra work for the technician. The tech said the stem wasn't accessible and I should drive around and see if the light goes out because he put air in a different tire. I said I knew it was the spare and that the stem was accessible and asked again but he wouldn't do it. I took it to another mechanic who saw the stem immediately and filled it in about 60 seconds. The tech just didn't want to do it and lied about the stem. He said he would need a tire tech to look at it. When I called to discuss the issue with management, Justin (the manager), just made excuses for the poor performance of the employee. No apology or offer to correct the mistake. Just excuses. The tech, the person I paid and the manager all refused correct an easy ask. read more

I recently went here for an oil change, on the recommendation of a friend. It's a little out of the way for me, but her words for these guys were so glowing that I had to check it out. I was in an out in less than 20 minutes. The waiting room has comfortable chairs, and the big windows let in lots of light. Everyone there was super friendly. They smile, and they look you in the eye (unlike a lot of the folks at other quick oil changes places I've been to). They answered my questions. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. They gave me a new customer discount, and gave me a coupon for my next oil change, as well. (Even without the discount, the price was very reasonable, but the coupon was icing on the cake!) Love these guys. We moved to the area two years ago and have been very happy with their work. The only (minor) complaint I have is that they switched to cheap looking paper oil change reminder stickers instead of the clear ones they used to have. I now have them put them inside the drivers door not on the windshield. I have a very nice expensive vehicle and don't want it trashed. Had trouble the last time, but I decided to give them another shot. Job was done right this time, but the people still weren't as friendly as they used to be but I guess that's the way things are now. read more

**UPDATE** I've had several services here now everything from the average oil change to $800 worth of work on my car! They are amazing! I love dealing with them and they really take care of you. When you get your oil changed they give you a free car wash too which is always nice. The only complaint I have is that I've asked the last two times I was there to get air in my tires and both times they said they would and didn't. I'm used to taking my car to one of the local shops and walking in and them knowing my name and never having to worry about them taking advantage of me or my situation. I have been looking to find a place that has: good customer service, stand behind their work and doesn't charge me more than they should (integrity.) I recently hit a raccoon and had to pull over on the side of the highway so my car wouldn't overheat.. something was definitely not okay on my car! after sitting there and googling what to do I found out I was only going to be able to drive a mile before I totally ruined my car. Again, turning to google I found Grandview was within a mile of my location. So as sheer "luck" would have it I took it here and was BLOWN AWAY by: how they handled the situation, their timeliness and how thorough they were. **PLEASE NOTE: I didn't actually have anything done with my car at this location as they do not offer any body work services so I needed to go through my insurance at a different shop. However all of this happened right before I was leaving on vacation and my car wasn't drive-able. Even though they weren't going to be doing the repairs they worked with my insurance adjuster to have her come in and do an estimate and then with the tow company to get my car to a different shop! All of this happened seamlessly while I was on vacation. Bottom line: these guys are legit. I chose this place because it was close to work, but it's really a great place to get work done. Not only are they reasonably priced, but they are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Another major bonus is that if you live or work 5 miles from their shop, they will give you a ride to work and pick you up when your car is ready! I also like how I can access all my service information and receipts online. Very handy! I also get a free car wash when I go. People there are friendly, the waiting area is clean with decent magazines and wi-fi, and when I checked in on Yelp I got a $10 off coupon I wasn't expecting! Brought in a tire for repair that had a slow leak. They told me it was a "bead leak". They "fixed" it and sent me on my way. On my drive home it was going flat again. Brought the tire into a dealership and they found a very small puncture in the tread. They fixed it and it works perfectly. Love that I don't need to make an appointment for an oil change and I've rarely had to wait for others because they have multiple oil changing bays. AAA got me started but the battery wouldn't take an overnight charge at home. So I jumped it and drove it to these guys. They got me a new battery in about 20 min on a Saturday + I got 45% of the cost of the old battery back because it was still under warranty. They stay in constant communication with you when your vehicle is being worked on. Had a flat tire and came in. Buying the tires there gave me forever-free rotation and at-cost replacement when one of my new tires was damaged. The two major repair jobs they performed on my well-kept 2002 Toyota Highlander-exhaust system replacement ($900 less than the dealer's quote) and damaged brakes replacement-were fairly priced and well done: I did not need to return there for a fix-the-fixing job. DOROTHEA G We have been taking our cars to Grandview Tire since we moved to the neighbourhood in 1991 and can't say enough good things about the quality of service and the integrity of the partners, Ed and John and Jr partner, Jordan ( Ed's son) . When I read a review titled 'Mysogynist' I was incredulous since I have never felt talked down to or treated with anything but respect at GT. They take time to explain what needs to be done- and often suggest monitoring rather than preceding with costly repairs. If repairs are needed they proceed only after first contacting us and providing full information, including cost. Our vehicles over the years have included a Nissan, Volvo, Silverado 4X4, and currently, Subaru Outback; each of these vehicles received quality professional service. We briefly had our new Subaru serviced by the dealership, believing ( wrongly) that the warranty serving had to be done by the dealership, and that the Outback would receive expert care since the dealer specialized in Subarus, only to find that we were not getting the quality service we were paying for- at inflated prices- and even basics, like tire rotation was not being carried out, wheel alignments were being charged at every 10K warranty service. Finally, after only 20K mileage, our summer tires had to be replaced due to faulty alignment! We returned to GT, purchased our new tires from them and have had all subsequent servicing on the Subaru done there as well. We learned our lesson the hard way and came back to GT, and will stay there as long as it is under present management! read more

Took my son's car in for an oil change and tire rotation after dropping him at his workplace and the 70th St location of Grandview Tire & Auto was close. Was greeted promptly by extremely friendly staff and got into the quick lube right away (on a Monday morning). They did a great job and also checked fluids and tire pressure, emptied the trash bag and gave it a onceover. I brought it back a couple hours later as there were other vehicles ahead of me for the tire rotation (which I expected). Unfortunately, they discovered that both front and rear brakes were down to almost nothing. I scheduled the brake job for that Wednesday, dropped the car in the morning and it was done by noon. Jeff the manager gave me a complete rundown on the brakes and I was extremely comfortable with his assessment and knowledge of car repairs. By the way, I did a "price check" with Midas after getting the estimate from Jeff and Grandview Tire & Auto was lower. Kind of a night and day difference in the braking after the service was done so I'm glad Jeff explained the urgency in getting them replaced since my son had a previously scheduled trip that weekend. I got a coupon for future service when I had the oil change/tire rotation so also helped with the unexpected brake job bill. The shop is clean and bright and they have a waiting area and also do shuttle service locally. This was a great experience (given the fact that unexpected car repairs are never fun). I have recently moved back to the Twin Cities. One of the first things I did was search for a go-to auto shop to keep my 2002 Highlander up-and-running. Initially, I found Grandview Tire & Auto via AAA. I've been there for oil changes, tire purchases, and most recently, a timing belt replacement. Although the cost of the last service was high, I also found it to be fair. The desk staff is always courteous, the drivers friendly who gave me a ride home and then picked me up when my car was ready, and the technicians are ASA Certified. I'm pleased with the work Grandview Tire & Auto personnel have done on my car. I plan to return there for other auto services I might need, and I recommend them to others. read more

I brought my car in recently as I started noticing a tick in my engine. Not sure what it was, I did some research and found this place had great reviews for customer service. They certainly weren't wrong. I brought my car in, and explained the issue. They told me it'd be a few hours, and provided me a complimentary ride back to my house. A few hours later, they had identified the issue as my tensioner on my timing belt. I alerted them I had just had it replaced about 6-9 months ago. They told me i'd be best going back to the shop that had done it to see if they'd cover it under warranty, rather than paying them to fix it. They could have been pushy and had me do my service there, but they provided honest and reliable service, letting me know I could save money and have this fixed under warranty at another shop. They certainly won me over. I'll be getting my future repairs/oil changes done at this shop. After paying them the extremely reasonable fee to figure out what was wrong with my car, they provided me with a welcome packet. Coupons for service, oil changes, and a complimentary car wash. My son and I were in town for the day, we live 2 hours away, and started having concerns with the rear tire. While I was driving, my son looked up the nearest tire store and found Grandview Tire & Auto, with great Yelp reviews, only a little over a mile away. We headed in that direction with fingers crosses that they would be able to take a look at my tire and asses the problem. With no hesitation, they said it would be about 15 minutes and someone would be available to test drive the vehicle and help us out. Got my snow tires rotated at 50th and Vernon Yesterday Monday May 5th. I called the shop at 7:30 and was greeted by Josh. I schedule two trips to this shop once in the spring and once in the late fall. Josh remembers me from October 2013. He can do the car today and will dispatch a guy to pick up my tires. I arrive at 10 am and they get me out by 10:30 am. This is the best service you can ever hope to find and best price. Plus it's a family friendly environment with reception for small children.
