Driving along and find that my tire is losing air fast, I pull into this fine establishment and they couldn't be more helpful. Because it's first come first served there was a little wait but luckily they got me in before they closed. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and there is even entertainment there with, the shop dog! I feel very lucky to have broken down near this shop. I have a Jeep Wrangler that I Love enough that I want the best mechanics in town. These guys meet the definition. Wesley and Don are absolutely the best and represent that mystical being "the honest mechanic". They provide me with good advice, great timely service and really exceptional explanations that give me comfort that I'm getting really good value. There's never a good time to have something puncture your tire, is there? I drove over a bit of construction debris last night. Luckily, the offender also plugged the hole. I called Edina Tire and Auto on the advice of their sister store. They advised me that they took repairs as they arrived, and I came in post haste. Someone was available, and they were able to remove the offending screw and make the repair right away. I was in and out in half an hour, and they sent me in my way with a free car wash, which I was able to redeem immediately (the car wash being immediately kitty corner to the repair shop). Our Lexus SUV broke down three days before we were to use it for a vacation trip. The repairs included getting and installing several new parts, but the France Ave shop of Edina Tire and Auto said they could start working on it the next day and completed all the repairs in 48 hrs and on budget. Absolutely abhorrent customer service and ethics. This place adds expensive hidden charges that are not mentioned at the time of making an appointment or when dropping off a vehicle. They only mention them when it's time to pick the car up. When voicing my concern about this, the lady at the front counter offered a canned response that she has clearly recited numerous times when others complained about similar practices, and offered me a partial discount. It's clear that I'm far from the first person they've done this to. This place definitely takes advantage of their France Ave location, and tries to gouge customers for every penny they can get. If they had been up front about their hidden charges, I would have gone with a different shop who is more transparent and who values their customers more than short term profits. I have never before posted a review on ANYTHING! But the service at Edina Tire & Auto is definitely worthy of praise. Old fashioned service from people that actually care about doing a job right! I have taken 4 of my vehicles and recommended their service to all my friends and family. My car has been in the shop 1.5 weeks. At first I was told that they needed to order something and would be ready in a few days. They installed it and it didn't solve the problem. So the cost for their next guess cost more than $3,000. It took almost another week to get this taken care of. After I paid for it and drove off in my car, within a mile the engine light came back on. Same light as before I brought it in. I returned the car to this auto place, missed a doctors appointment I had because of the error. Only to eventually get home and get a message saying that it is still not fixed and they will have to figure out what to do. I am so sorry I brought my car in to be fixed at this location. They seemed very nice and friendly but they completely tried to rip me off! I had a friend leave the parking brake up slightly on my manual transmission car and fried the brakes to the point that they smelled really bad and were weak. Edina Tire and Auto claimed I had rear brake calipers that were stuck and that the rotors, pads and calipers all needed to be replaced for $1,400+! Then they lied and told me the parking brake is a separate brake than the rear brakes which is not true on this generation of Saab 9-3. Why were the calipers no longer sticking? Why if one was sticking wouldn't the car just pull to one side? I'm fortunate I know about cars and doubted their diagnosis. My trusty mechanic at another shop farther away just replaced the rear pads and the car works fine. They don't deserve anybody's business if they would blatantly lie like this and would try to bilk a customer like me out of over $1,000. read more

They're the kind of mechanics where they don't "mend" anything - they cop out and simply suggest replacing everything that isn't in perfect form without offering options. I understand it is a business, but they appear to prey on the uneducated and timid. Your car will come out of there working well, but it's because they took the easy (and expensive) route. I've been to a lot of auto repair shops, and this is the first where I've felt really comfortable that the work they suggest is not only the right work, but work they stand behind. When I ask why something needs to be done, they explain in detail why the work is necessary and why it's better than other options. After bringing my old Saturn here for years, it got to the point where I was coming in for big repairs a bit too frequently. When I discussed buying a new car, they seemed in favor, even though that obviously meant less business for them. They even offered to help me re-home the Saturn (with 200,000 miles), at no cost or anything. The prices are reasonable, and totally worth it for work I can count on. read more

I rarely review places because I never have too much to say. I'm making a point to review these guys. Was seriously the best experience I've ever had with an Auto place. They fixed the problem in about half the estimated time and couldn't have been anymore straight forward or nicer. Seriously, you couldn't ask for better (or more honest) service anywhere. These are the type of people who treat you like a human being and are straight forward. They will explain issues with detail if you're uneducated about them and will not take advantage of you. It's like asking your dad to help fix your car. You know he's going to do it to the best he can to keep you safe and moving. Will definitely be a returning customer and will tell my friends. Fast service but not trustworthy. Edina Tire and Auto ALWAYS tells me something is wrong and that I need to get it fixed. Last time I was in they gave me a long list of things that needed to be done. The man behind the counter told me that it was recommended based on my mileage. What they did not know was that I had my vehicle in to the dealership two weeks before and had already had all of these items done. I live very close so I gave them another try when I needed a quick oil change. That morning I had been to Auto Zone for the free check to see what was up with my engine light being on. Auto Zone said it indicated that I needed a new gas cap and once battery was shut off then the light would go away (looked up online and this is a known Honda issue). Told this to Edina Tire and Auto and asked them to please just change the oil. When picking up my car they told me Auto Zone was wrong and again I needed to get $700 of work done. Paid for oil change and took vehicle to dealership 2 days later. Dealership told me the same thing as Auto Zone. I didn't even need the new gas cap. They just disconnected the battery and the distress light went away. read more

I would like to share about the very positive experience that I recently had with Edina Tire and Auto and the staff there - particularly Don and Mel. My car unexpectedly experienced significant engine issues having to do primarily with the ignition coils and the ECM computer. Unfortunately, one malfunction triggered a series of necessary and complicated major repairs. The car is older with relatively high miles. After Edina Tire and Auto repaired the car, the engine runs better and smoother than it has in years. Obviously I wish the repairs were not necessary, but given that they were, I am very pleased with the excellent ( and prompt ) work that the staff at Edina Tire and Auto did on my car. TRULY amazed at how today went this morning at Edina tire and auto. I have a 2019 Hyundai Tuscan, with 31xxx miles on it- and unfortunately got a flat last night. I threw on the spare and came to Edina tire and auto- where I have gotten all of my last oil changes for I don't even know how long. I left my car and got a text message saying the repair would be $1300...... After calling them they said my other 3 tires were at 4/11th and were totally unsafe to drive and they didn't feel comfortable/wouldn't replace my one tire. BUT THE KICKER IS- we had an employee come out to the car and measure my tires again because again they are warranted to 55k and we are at 31xxx and the tires were all at 7/11th..... then i was told because my car is 4x4 they wouldn't replace just one. NOT only did they loose business for the tire repair, and all of our oil changes, but if ever asked I will tell people to not go here, and will find a new place that doesn't pull this kind of stuff. To be completely honest, I decided to come here because I've always liked the sayings they post on the sign in front of the shop. I stopped here for a tire to be patched on a Saturday afternoon. I called earlier in the day to check and see if I could walk in anytime. They took my car right into the garage when I got there and I enjoyed the air conditioned waiting room for about 30 minutes while they did the work. It cost under $35 and was quick and easy! While running errands in Edina, I noticed my front passenger side tire was vibrating. This shop was the closest one to me and I quickly pulled in. Earlier that day I had the oil changed and tires rotated at a different shop (in Uptown). Turns out they had forgotten to tighten the lug nuts on one of my tires! Super dangerous! The tech at Edina Tire had me come back into the service area so I could witness the mistake the other shop had made and watch him fix it. And to top it all off, the tech vacuumed out the inside of my car for free (he must have noticed the million dog hairs!). I was super impressed with the service. I had this place try to rip me off by lying to me and telling me I needed new rear calipers, rotors and pads because the calipers supposedly stuck. I had a car renter leave the parking brake on slightly on my manual transmission car. They told me that the parking brake uses the rear calipers but that is not true. If the calipers were sticking, how would they stick equally and if not, why wouldn't the car pull to one side? My trusted mechanic in Burnsville just replaced the rear pads and everything is fine. If I had trusted Edina Tire and Auto I could have spent many hundreds of dollars for nothing. Don't go here. read more

This was a refreshing experience. My AC compressor needed to be replaced which is notoriously an expensive ordeal. Edina Tire & Auto quoted me the best price by far and got the job done in fewer hours than initially discussed within hours of my initial phone call. They provided me a vehicle to use during the repair and replaced the battery in my automatic door lock pad thingy without charging me. I asked the mechanic's opinion on whether or not I needed services based on another shops' suggestions (~$300+ worth) and he told me none of it was necessary. Very friendly and fast service. I came in to get a flat tire patched and they got me in and out of there in less than an hour. They also noticed a pretty serious problem with my car and pointed it out to me, but they couldn't fix it then and there. I really appreciated that they didn't pressure me to schedule an appointment to fix it there on a later day, since I'd rather go to my usual mechanic which is closer to where I live. RUDE! They are liars! I spoke with a gentleman on the phone twice on the same day about getting a tire put on my motorcycle. Understandably, they don't carry motorcycle tires in stock. The salesperson assured me that if I picked up a tire, they could put it on and balance it for me that day. I bought the tire elsewhere, and spoke with him on the phone again. This time, he even quoted me a price. When I arrived, they rudely told me they don't do this for motorcycles. Worst of all, the salesperson I spoke to on the phone TWICE then piped up, and said "I told you we don't do this". Literally lying to my face, so his boss didn't know he screwed up. read more

First I brought car in and they said they'd give me a rental. Then they said they did not have a rental. They said they would call in the AM with an estimate. Got a call at 1PM saying they fixed the problems and it was ready to be picked up. I was very upset they hadn't called me with estimate prior to fixing. Spoke to manager and they admitted to not calling with estimate and still didn't give me a discount or anything. Will NEVER go back. read more

Just needed a quick fix - my rear license plate needed replacing and the screws were rusted on. They removed the screws and put on the new license plate quickly and for the lowest price I was quoted. All with great service. I also noted they have a nice waiting area. read more

UPDATE: The General Manager - Don, reached out to me and truly tried to offer any help to make things right. I changed my review from a One Star - Three Stars just based on his approach of handling my complaint and simply going out of his way to make sure his customers are 100% satisfied. I will say though that they run their business in making sure that your vehicle does not leave their shop less than 100%. With that being said, they may take the more expensive route and with my experience, did not mention any alternative repairs that may be less expensive as a temporary fix. As with any repair though, it's always a wise decision to receive a second inspection from another shop. Hope this has helped! read more
