It is funny how he will try to defend himself, but almost all negative comments are about his attitude- it is not a singular event. He is dismissive and does not care about his patients. I recommend Dr. Shemirani to EVERYONE! We've been going here for years, my son had an expander then was monitored, now finally has braces. First of all, very convenient location with easy parking. Second, his staff is super professional and polite; they contacted my insurance so I always know up front exactly what I will owe. Also, they actually see you ON TIME! (mind blown) You know how annoying it is to wait for long periods even when you have an appointment? That does not happen here. EVER. Usually we are seen exactly on time, maybe sometimes we have to wait 2 to 5 minutes. I absolutely love it and feel that they are highly organized and that they respect patients' time and schedules. Now for the best part: Dr. Shemirani himself: he is exactly what you want in an orthodontist. Really good at his job, friendly, professional, knowledgeable. He is efficient, but not rushed. I went to Dr. Bobby Shemirani's Ortho clinic to fix my teeth over-crowding issues. Dr. Shemirani was very thorough in explaining the details as to why I may not be a good candidate for Invisalign. He gave a realistic timeline for the braces and here I am after slightly over 1.5 years (in the middle of a pandemic) braces free. I haven't felt more confident about my smile...ever! My experience with Dr. Shemirani has been amazing! They were very friendly in the initial appointments, and after checking around decided to get braces from him. Each check in appointment has been extremely easy to schedule and the receptionists are extremely nice! I recently moved from Fremont to Redwood City, and they told me they have a closer office in Foster City and I was able to start going there. I found that really convenient. He has a great rewards system (that I think is geared towards younger patients, but they asked me if I wanted I participate) where you get three tokens for each visit, and then can redeem them at the end for prizes! Even as a self-proclaimed adult, this makes visits very exciting! Dr. Shemirani is always friendly, happy to answer questions, takes his time so I never feel rushed. My mom, sister and I decided to get our braces on the same day two years ago. Fast forward to today, my mom and I got our ceramic braces off! I got them on the beginning of my junior year in high school-I had crooked teeth overall, and problems with my bite. During check ins and appointments, Dr. Bobby and his assistants made us feel comfortable while encountering new experiences with braces. My sister is still in the process ;) In the past my dentist would tell me that I need to remove teeth to make space for my small mouth. I had a lot of overcrowding in my teeth and was worried about the process of braces. In the end, Dr. Bobby fixed my smile without removing any of my teeth! I have no idea what Bobby is talking about in his response because I am NOT this "dismissed" patient he is referring to. But I wonder if he can't tell the difference because there are so many other patients who feel this way about his attitude or how he is unwilling to answer questions. I hope how angrily he responds to any criticism gives you an indication of the type of service you'll get if you choose him. There are multiple other patients who have expressed similar concerns, to which he defensively and angrily responds and tries to make it seem like their bad experiences are invalid... instead of just trying to treat future patients with a better attitude. I have never had any issues with a medical professional in my ENTIRE life until Bobby. The way he spoke to me just for asking questions was appalling. He stormed out because I was "questioning" him as a professional because I wanted to know details about MY treatment that I'm spending tons and tons of money on? I was actually speechless. He completely switches his personality the second you sign that contract. He rushes in and rushes out, and if you ask any questions you're treated as a burden. He is extremely impatient, rude, and short-tempered, which are not qualities of any medical professional that I'm interested in being treated by. This is MY experience and Bobby might try to respond and make every patient who leaves a negative review feel like they're a crazy, one-off experience, but just consider this before you choose him as your orthodontist. This is my second time getting braces. Dr. Bobby offered options for my severe overbite and crooked bottom front teeth. Instead of choosing to do surgeries for my jaw, I chose to have ceramic braces! As an adult, I feel having ceramic braces will not be as obvious as the metal braces and could still look nice throughout the process Dr. Bobby directs a number of assistants which rotate to help you with changing wire for each visit. I like how Dr. Bobby examines my teeth and tries to reach for perfection and he also listens to my feedback. I finished my treatment that took 22 months and now am wearing a retainer for my whole life and some removable retainers during bed time. Before I went to Bobby, I consulted with many other dentists and found his confidence, knowledge and price are better overall than others. Many people asked me to do surgery and remove some teeth, and Bobby is one of two who said I don't need those. Now I'm happy with my results. He corrected my open bite almost 100%, but not exactly. My cross bite gets a lot better, but not the best. Still, I'm satisfied overall. In the beginning throughout the treatment, he was always impatient when i asked him questions. he did answer me, but he was walking away while answering. i felt he needs some more patience with adults. but he is very patient with kids. this is the only complaint i have. and also the reason why i deducted 1 star. Nancy is the most amazing staff, very patient, skillful, and careful. I feel i'm safe under her hand. especially when i took off my braces, she did a great job and i gave her a small gift. Sarah is not careful or skillful. She cut my lips to bleeding during one of my visits. it was very painful for me, but they only gave me a jumba juice gift card of $5??? I think I wasn't respected and taken care of with the only $5 for compensating for the painful bleeding. read more

I'm 25 and just now signed up for braces. 10 years of procrastination at its best. It's not as expensive as I thought it was going to be and they seem to have payment plans here that make it affordable for everyone. Knowing that earlier would have led me to get them installed years ago and I would have been done by now. After reading their materials and their guarantees it is clear that they are here to help people and do the best work possible. They do care about the quality of their work and that is what matters most to me. My teeth had several issues and make them a bit more work then the average case but it didn't seem like as issue here. I am pleased that I opted for the ceramic braces. I originally chose them simply because they were more expensive and I ball like that but many people are not aware I have them. It's embarrassing as an adult to have braces so it is nice that this option makes them less noticeable. I was referred here and have been pretty satisfied so far. They are a very efficient organization and they could explain the process better but all I care about are the results. I can annoy some with the amount of questions I ask and they have answered them to my satisfaction. I recognize that they are professionals with years of training so they do know better than I do. I have another 22 months to go on my treatment so this will probably be updated at some point. read more

We've done three sets of braces with this practice so far, with another one coming up soon (this includes adults in the family), and we are very happy! They've accommodated us a great deal and helped my daughters get rid of lisps with a device attached to the back of their braces. Everyone in the front and back office is really nice and very caring. The Foster City office is quieter and quite flexible, and has Sat morning appointments. They are reasonably priced and work with insurance. Highly recommend! read more

I was scared to get braces as an adult, but I was very satisfied with the way Dr. Bobby talked me through the pros/cons of getting them. I decided to go with ceramic brackets for 14 months (for the top) and 20 months (for the bottom.) He understood my concerns about wearing them for work events and other things and helped me get the top portions off early, so they weren't as noticeable. The staff is fantastic, and they were really great about being flexible when my work schedule conflicted with appointments. Now I have beautiful teeth and it wasn't anywhere near as painful as I thought. I would highly recommend him for any adult looking to get braces a little later on in life. read more

I am another adult that Dr. Bobby helped through the process of having braces. I was hesitant about getting braces since I work in a professional environment where I interact with clients to sell my company's services as well as manage associates. I didn't want to feel dumb or self-conscious when I spoke. Dr. Bobby helped me deal with my reservations with lots of information and support. I now have a smile that I'm more than satisfied with and keep it that way with a permanent retainer on my bottom front teeth and a night guard/temporary retainer on my top front teeth. I see Dr. Bobby every 6 months for incidental things like tightening the wires on my night retainer or checking the glue on my permanent retainer. Maybe some orthodontists would treat my conscientiousness as a nuisance but Dr. Bobby and his staff are always professional, welcoming, helpful, and friendly. This office will refuse your appointment and send you home when you arrive for being literally only 11 or 12 minutes late. I am not minimizing or exaggerating these time amounts to create a better argument. Even if you call ahead of time and tell them that you will be slightly late, they don't care, and will refuse to see your child for their quick 5 minute appointment. Bizarrely enough, they called us when we were at a nearby intersection a block away, and the front desk refused to try to help us navigate to the place, since it was exactly 10 minutes after our appointment. The woman on the phone said "I don't know where that is" and was only interested in us cancelling our appointment. I even asked the woman "Is your building two stories and blue?" She said yes but that we would still have to cancel our appointment. Basically I'm standing in front of the building but since it's 10 minutes after the appointment time, they just want to cancel and refused treatment. I'm astounded by the unreasonableness and inflexibility for appointments. They are certainly not good enough at orthodontics to warrant such a pretentious attitude. The timeline estimates on how long it would take to correct my child's teeth were consistently inaccurate; it always took much longer and more appointments than what the doctor said. For one of the visits, my child had finished their appointment but forgot to ask the doctor for a new estimate of how many more treatments were needed. I immediately asked the front desk if we could go back and ask the doctor this quick question, since it was only 20 seconds after my child came out, and the front desk told me no. No slack is cut for anyone at this place. Unfortunately, transferring to a different orthodontist usually entails the high cost of an entirely new treatment. Otherwise I would leave this place in a heartbeat. read more

Dr. Shemirani is a great orthodontist! I got my braces put on when I was 24 and had them on for a year. I was very self conscience about my teeth when I was younger but now I smile in all my pictures. My little sister got her braces when she was 11 years old and is now 13 and still has them. She was unfortunate to have severely crowded teeth and a huge over bite. Dr. Shemirani does wonderful work, my sister's teeth are beautiful but has to keep her braces on until her molars grow in fully. The office is very clean and very friendly for children. The receptionist is Barb and she is great and friendly. She remembers my name even though I only go there once every few months. Of courses braces are expensive but are worth it in the end. Dr. Shemerani is not very patient and doesn't listen to patients. If you have questions or want to express some concerns, he usually only say what he thinks and doesn't listen to you. This is especially obvious towards the end of treatment, he would just turn his back on you, and say "Bye Bye". He doesn't seem to show care for his patients. read more

My daughter had her four wisdom teeth removed last month which triggered me to think about Dr. Shemirani, his great service, and wonderful staff. Paperwork and billing was easy. Dr. Shemirani worked a schedule to straightened my daughter's teeth without having to extract any of her adult teeth (knowing her front teeth would be ever-so-slightly off 90 degrees). We knowingly selected this option to avoid four extractions. Every appointment was pleasant, staff very friendly, professional, and courteous. It was rare we didn't meet a neighbor, classmate or a friend in the reception area. It was so sweet when one of my daughter's friends, Bella, left her exam seat and came to the reception area to show my daughter and me her new smile sans her braces!
