Great experience so far! Space is clean, staff is kind and attentive to our concerns. I have an anxious and sensitive child and they took their time to make it a pleasurable experience for her. The equipment was down (internet connection problems) during our consultation, but they worked with our schedule to promptly fit her in. The waiting room has tea and coffee available while you wait and restroom is clean. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. My only request would be to have an upfront discussion of her plan of care and estimated cost discussion during that first visit, but it seems this practice likes to have that discussion virtually after certain diagnostics are completed. I am almost halfway in my orthodontics treatment and I want to give the highest rating to Dr Holman and the staff! Dr Holman is always super patient in terms of listening to questions and addressing concerns, and he is the only doctor who explicitly requests a periodontist check and thorough jaw check before starting the treatment due to my existing conditions(while most other doctors don't pay much attention to these). I've contemplated for a while about leaving this review, but I feel the need to share my experience so others can make more informed decisions regarding their treatment. Ortho work is not something to be taken lightly and I'm confident my ortho work with Dr. Holman has significantly affected my health in many ways (negatively). I had my orthodontic treatment with Dr. Holman all throughout my childhood, beginning at a very young age all up until I was in college. I had two rounds of braces totaling out to 8 years, with headgear, positioning retainers, wisdom teeth removed - the works. The orthodontic work I received is what is considered "camouflage orthodontics" - my smile looked pretty, but my airway and jaw joint health was poor. Fast forward to 28 years old - diagnosed with degenerative joint disease in my TMJ and obstructive sleep apnea due to my under-developed jaws, and diagnosed with kyphoscoliosis of my spine, all due to my jaw condition. Now, many orthodontists have made this mistake of compromising the airway and joint health by using headgear, teeth extraction, etc to bring teeth together, especially during this timeframe. But what upset me most was my treatment with Dr. Holman when I went back to him as an adult. At 28 years old, I saw Dr. Holman again with my new diagnosis of degenerative joint disease and OSA. He proposed a certain treatment plan that involved extraction of two more teeth and double jaw surgery. At 28 years old and as an occupational therapist with knowledge regarding anatomy, physiology, and airway health, I naturally had questions that I wanted answered prior to proceeding with treatment. It was after my questioning that Dr. Holman discharged/dropped me as a patient, and his reasoning was that I was not "psychologically ready" for treatment. The treatment I got from Dr. Holman (and Jessica) is the epitome of what is wrong with society today, especially in the medical field and with women seeking treatment (especially from a male doctor). Now at 32 years old, I am so grateful he dropped me as a patient. I received the proper treatment plan and underwent total jaw joint replacement surgery 5 months ago. And I have now found from several others that Double Jaw Surgery (MMA) would have made my condition even worse, which would've most likely resulted in total jaw joint replacement surgery after double jaw surgery. If you have TMD of any kind, I highly suggest you do not go to Dr. Holman and instead find an orthodontist with more up-to-date knowledge regarding joint health and airway health. read more

My experience at Holman Orthodontics has been very good! I've been seeing them for around 5 years and have had an expander as well as Teo rounds of braces. Thanks to Dr Holman, my daughter no longer suffers from TMJ. We ended up at his office after she completed Invisalign with another orthodontist and started having headaches and jaw pain. He created a night guard for her to stabilize her symptoms and then recommended her for surgery, which we never would have considered but he convinced us why it was the best option. Her symptoms are completely resolved now and we are so grateful. He is very methodical and the evaluation and treatment process takes time; trust the proceed and Dr Holman. We tried to shortcut the process by going to another dentist for an expensive night guard, and it only made her feel worse. He's a true expert in his field. read more

I have been going to Dr. Holman since I first received braces at age 9. My initial treatment was great. I loved the result and the people working in the office. I had not seen Dr. Holamn in ten years and I went back into the new office in 2020 to get a new positioner as mine was breaking. It was normal wear and tear. I assumed I would receive the same amazing care, but I was wrong. When I received my new positioner and wore it, it made my gums bruised and bloody. I assumed it would go away, but it did not. I "complained", as the front desk woman ,Jessica, put it, then went to get examined by Dr. Holman. He was shocked at how bad my gums were and shaved away parts of the positioner to hopefully relieve the stress on my gums. The positioner fit so loosely it caused two of my teeth to shift inwards, but still somehow continued to cause my gums to bleed. My front and bottom teeth are now turned inwards and noticeably crooked. Dr. Holman then suggested I get a basic plastic and metal retainer. He did this so that there wouldn't be anything touching my gums. I came in 2 months ago to get a check up and was told by Jessica that I would now be charged for any appointment moving forward, including the one I was just at. I was outraged. I spoke to the doctor and he was confused as to why Jessica would say this as he was still fixing an issue HE CAUSED. Luckily, this new retainer kept my now crooked teeth in place and no longer bruised my gums. It is almost two years later and I have worse teeth now than when I came in. I was told there is no way to straighten my two teeth unless I get braces or Invisalign. I was told I could get another retainer or try out other ways to try to straighten my two teeth, but at this point I have had ENOUGH. I do not want to ruin my teeth further and will be going somewhere else. My dentist even commented on how my teeth have negatively shifted and took new x-rays, so there was proof of this. On top of now having a crooked smile, Jessica made my experience with this office SO MUCH WORSE. It is true she is very rude and condescending as other people have said. She has canceled appointments on me and I was given no notice. I work and take time off to see them. It was very aggravating to come in to only find out that my appointment was canceled. In most circumstances, they are running behind by at least 30 mins. A simple text or email to communicate the situation would have been appreciated. When confronting Jessica about these mistakes or suggestions, she makes no attempt to apologize or rectify the situation. She only deflects her part in the situation even though there is documented proof of her errors on three occasions. Please DOCUMENT EVERYTHING when dealing with Jessica. I promise it will serve you well. I understand things can happen once in awhile, but to have horrible interactions with Jessica every time I went in is unacceptable. Overall, my new experience with Dr. Holmans office was HORRIBLE. I only feel bad writing this because Dr. Holman is a nice and rational guy. He really needs to replace Jessica as she is the face and voice of the practice and is causing it much harm. read more

I am excited to finally be able to say something about Dr Holman after nearly 20 years !!! This post is very relevant because my teeth have never shifted to date ! I am in now in my 30s ... As a child I had some horrific teeth a cross bite and over bite. I remember just how detail oriented and patient Dr Holman was . He would assess your progress in such a authentic and caring manner to me he was one of the doctors in my youth that inspired me to go into medicine and Pharma . Anyway at the end of it all back in those times I was given a retainer to use to keep my amazing bite he and his team had given me. Honestly, super disappointed!!! I was referred by my dentist and I called to make an appointment since my dentist had said they were going to be booked up. When I called, I, unfortunately, got Jessica. She was SO RUDE, the way she talks to you is condescending like you cannot afford to come to this office. She just kept wanting to reiterate that I would have to figure out how much my insurance would cover so that I could pay. I told her I would pay whatever bill, and that the cost was NOT my issue. My issue was my TMJ. I told her I could give her my information (Subscriber number and group number), and I would follow up with the rest to make sure both sides had the right information. At first, she said she did not want that information, then I asked for her name, she refused to give it to me, for a moment, THEN asked for my subscriber number (as if at this point I was going to not want to know who I was talking to). I was on the phone for a total of 10 minutes and she left the worst taste in my mouth. If you get this woman on the phone, ask for someone else. This was just my first impression...... read more

This is the best orthodontic office I have ever been to! Not only was every person professional, but they are really nice and friendly. It felt like I was going to visit family (who also changed my braces wire!) hahaha. Dr. Holman is also associated with Stanford hospital, so I know he is one of the best! Dr. Holman may be great, but his receptionist Jessica is condescending. The initial consultation is almost $400. The time with the doctor himself is only 30 minutes. I called my insurance and called Jessica back. She expected she talked, explained to you, you got it 100%, did not ask any questions, and did not talk. She became frustrated and exclaimed "You are not even our patient." I would love to be their patient if I can sort out the to-be $400 bill. Alas, I will go somewhere else. I've been a patient of Dr. Holman for about seven years. In summary, I had facial reconstruction surgery in 2004 and those involved in that surgery did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, a Complication of that surgery can be a misaligned jaw/bite and TMJ which is what happened to me. Part of my long-term treatment with Dr. Holman (sleep apnea & TMJ specialist) included having braces put on for a second time in 2009 (the first time being as a young teenager). I am now being treated with a night guard and a retainer. Dr. Holman explained the pros and cons as well as treatment options to me very thoroughly as we have worked through my issues. I could not be more pleased with him and his staff. And I want to send out a special thanks to Anne and Anna for following him to his new office. We had our first consult today for my daughters 2nd stage orthodontic braces! The front staff was so nice and friendly!
