The smell of this place is indescribable--you have to smell it to believe it! Their options may be a tad pricey, but they're worth it. Did I mention the bagels are made fresh in-house? The quaint and friendly atmosphere has a bohemian vibe with pink walls and a quirky-looking bagel mascot painted on the walls. And if you only speak un peu de français(a bit of French), the staff are bi lingual.

I drove by this place a few times but decided to finally drop in one morning. I walked into a smallish storefront and first thing I noticed was a lot of different things for sale. It was pretty cool but looking around the line and freezer, I started to try to figure out what to get. They had a few different options and coffee as well. The lineup was long but they move pretty fast. I was up at the front of the line in no time but noticed a different area that looked like seating and an oven they were making the bagels. When I got to the front, I ordered a sesame bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese and a coffee. They gave me one of the buzzers and I went to the other side of the building to check out the seating and bagels being made. It didn't take long and my buzzer went off. I went up, grabbed my bagel and grabbed a seat. It looks close to a Montreal style bagel. I forgot to mention they gave me a cup so that I can fill it up at their coffee station. After sitting down, I took my first bite. It's a good bagel, not as good as what you'd get in Montreal but it's definitely an upgrade on any of the chains you can grab a bagel. I think I'd come back to check out the breakfast bagel at some point. Staff are friendly and lots of seating.

Tried Bobino's to see what the hype was about, and it's definitely popular. I had a breakfast bagel and the Bobino, but honestly found both underwhelming. The bagels were quite skinny, and the Bobino was basically just a ham and cheese bagel (somehow I was expecting something else so it was definitely my fault). Prices felt high compared to other bagel shops in Ottawa and Montreal I paid 30$ for 2 bagels and one small hot chocolate. For a casual bagel experience, you'll likely enjoy it, but I think its popularity comes from being the only bagel place in the area. I must say 10/10 for their branding, I do find it very cool!

Finally authentic Montreal style bagels in Gatineau. I used to have to go to Ottawa for these. I've been eating these kind of bagels all my life and I think Bobino does a good job. The bagels are made in a wood fire oven, the authentic way. Everything tastes amazing. They offer their own housemade cream cheeses, variety of coffees and they make bagel sandwiches. A great place to get breakfast. They have outdoor seating. Highly recommended

Whole grain bagel. $1.85 each. $14.95 for a dozen.

TLDR: Awesome Montreal-style bagels. Cute ambiance. Has both indoor and outdoor seating. So with the recent closure of Bagel Run in Orleans, I had to find another place in the NCR (National Capital Region) for my Montreal-style bagel fix. Bobino Bagels fit the bill perfectly. Their bagels have that distinctive chew after that slight initial resistance when you bite into it, lol. I got a dozen, which was $14.95. They are $1.85 each otherwise. You can mix and match flavours. I got 4 plain, 2 garlic, 2 whole grains, 2 blueberry and 2 cinnamon raisin. The ordering system is that you order and pay at on one side of the store, then you walk through a short blue tunnel to your right, and pick up your order on the other side. Be sure to take your receipt and order ticket as proof of payment. You don't need to tell the cashier which flavours you want, you just tell the person getting your bagels. Bagels are packed in paper bags, 6 per bag. Inside the paper bag is a plastic bag for you to transfer your bagels to after they've cooled down (mine weren't hot out of the oven though). There's also instructions on how to store your bagels and their shelf life. Staff were patient with explaining the process and were all-around pleasant. The decor is super cute. Lots of pink everywhere. Their mascot is a bagel who is naked and you can see his butt cheeks, lol. They have indoor seating and also outdoor seating on their patio. I enjoyed all their bagels. The garlic one isn't too potent, which I appreciated, lol. However, the blueberry one has a pronounced blueberry flavour, which I really liked. The cinnamon raisin one was good, but the cinnamon isn't too strong. The plain on is just that, plain, lol. I didn't realize that the whole grains one was half covered in sesame seeds. I had a bit of the half without sesame seeds and it was good, not too dry, like whole wheat bagels tend to be. So happy to find a place in the NCR with Montreal-style bagels! There's free parking on-site (limit 1 hour). Bobino Bagels is where Juliano's Gelato used to be (if you're missing Juliano's, fear not Juliano's lives on with 2 locations one in Galleries de Hull in Gatineau and one on Main St in Old Ottawa East). The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. District Deli only has cold sandwiches. No hot sandwiches, at least not at the time of the writing of this review. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #118 (2025)

Prepare to be amazed............... We had heard about his place for months and how awesome it was so we finally decided to try it out. When we got there at mid-day on a Saturday there was a line up out the door. My wife suggested we go for a walk to let the line thin out a but. We got back and the line had thinned out so we went in. They have a set number of sandwiches and you can also make your own, but we decided to try their set sandwiches. I got the Parkdale and the Holland, my wife got the Bayswater, and we picked up a Scott for my daughter. When we got home, we were nothing short of blown away. The quality of the sandwich was amazing - the bread was light and fluffy, a ton of meat, fresh veggies, great sauces, just incredible quality. More importantly, fantastic value for money. Even more importantly, the staff were wonderful - they chatted with us but kept the line moving - super professional and friendly. The quality of the sandwiches here rivals Old Tyme - no word of a lie. The bread they use is very very close to what we had in Lafayette and the quality of the fillings is outstanding. Don't walk, run to this place. It will change your life for what you think about sandwiches.

This sandwich is literally the reason I downloaded this app…read more I've just spent the whole winter in Quebec and am now hitchhiking across Canada and decided to stay in Ottawa a few days. I booked 4 nights at the Saintlo jail hostel and when I came downstairs after a rejuvenating nap I saw that they had a list of recommendations sitting amongst a pile of other plastic sheets. Dirienzo's - the best ITALIAN SANDWICH in the city. I'm not really an Italian sandwich sort of person normally, maybe it was contributed by the burgeoning like for cured meats that I was acquiring after eating dried salami as my only source of food for the past week or so -- but who's going to pass up the chance to try the BEST of anything? I got there after taking 2 buses and was starting to become a bit concerned. I had $40 in my account and was hitchhiking across the country -- after all it was labelled the BEST in the city and that would normally come with a hefty price tag. When I first opened the door I instantly got greeted by the guy behind the counter, which made me feel welcomed and at ease. I looked up to view the selection of sandwiches that they had on offer and potentially the cheaper ones. I was surprised to see the sign that said $10 for ANY SANDWICH!! #booyah I was finding it hard to decide on which of the sandwiches to get since they all looked so appetising, but decided on number 16. The sandwich was massive for the price that it was. The bread was a perfect mix between durable so that it wouldn't fall apart in your hands, but soft enough that it was enjoyable, with the amount of bread contemplating he rest of the fillings just the right amount. I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest with how good it was. All of the ingredients including the lettuce (which I've found is usually the first thing places will skimp out on) were extremely fresh. I put in my coworker groupchat: "Anyone coming over across Canada after the season has to make a stop in Ottawa if they aren't already just to try one of these." Accompanied by a photo of my eyes watering with glee. My Nonna is always telling me how I need to learn Italian to be more connected to our culture and I've always just kindof brushed it off since I haven't needed to use it and we don't speak it much at home, but this has made me so proud to be Italian. As I continued to eat the sandwich sitting on a bench looking towards the city and the people playing basketball in the park, I found myself contemplating staying in Canada and raising my kids here in Ottawa so that they get to experience it themselves on a warm summer afternoon after picking them up from school. I usually get a latte there but decided on a regular one, that was a mistake. Their food did taste good, and their chutney was still delicious but the service was a bit gruff. They weren't rude by any means but I was ignored for 10 mins just waiting to ask for a takeout box. I could tell he was a bit overwhelmed and probably having an off morning, so I didn't take it personally. But when I'm paying $30 for one breakfast bowl and a coffee, I'd expect more than 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and a few mushrooms in it. The food is delicious but you're definitely overpaying and 50/50 on the coffee lol

All the nearby spots are reserved for the apartment dwellers in the building. Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through. And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options
