Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. As a result my initial scope had to be reduced considerably: lots of difficult choices had to be made, and today, at the other end of the journey, I am 100% satisfied, and grateful for having worked with Anthony Gaudioso's team. I should mention that during the selection process I have met with a dozen of contractors, a handful of whom eventually provided detailed estimates for this job. Gaudioso was the most responsive to the specifics of my project, and worked out an estimate that beat the competition. But the price is only half of the picture. The other essential part is that all communication was easy, transparent and reliable from the beginning, and as the renovation work progressed my initial confidence was confirmed throughout. Gaudioso's right arm man on site was Luis, an outstanding foreman and team coach who was able to work out many solutions to unforeseen issues and adapted to many of my particular requests, always keeping an eye on the costs. Quite the no-nonsense man, very knowledgeable, and also a friendly person to work with. He and his team moved fast and had a clear sense of responsibility and pride about how things were being done. When I asked for recommendations, Luis listened and consistently came up with solid solutions, and when I was unhappy about any details in progress he would take care of them personally and immediately.
