The owner does a fair job. But don't count on him listening to any styling requests.He's never listened to mine. My reason for this review is the owner's fish tank is disgusting. It's completely full of algae. I asked him if that's normal. His responded affirmatively while laughing. I can't return to this barber just because of his lack of care for that aquarium. read more

I've been bringing my kid to Bob for a couple years now. I used to live in the rea , But I still manage to take my kid to him. I call him up for an appointment and he's available , which I like a lot. My kid's hair doesn't take all day and is very low maintenance I think. He also asks how we want it cut and what would look good or he'll make great suggestions. But usually we just get a line up and a trim. He also did a design one day, when my kid had asked him to. It's a shame when a business like Mr. V's has only TWO reviews when they have so many satisfied customers. I know, my husband and I are both long time customers but even tho' we old, we do review...so if you come out this way, please take a moment to review. My husband no longer lets ANYONE touch his funky head of hair except Mr. V (pictured.) He is, like many old men, set in his ways and will not go anywhere else. If Mr. V is not there or the shop is closed, he'll wait til he's back in and just skip the cut that day. Mr. V also has a young kid working with him who looks to be training in the "Mr. V" style of barbering...what's that you say? It's the most thorough, detail oriented and complete haircut you've ever had. It doesn't matter if they have five people waiting, everyone gets the same attention to details and excellent customer service. And yes, I do get my old grandma spiky 'do done there because seriously dude, where could either of us go to get our hair done for less than $10??? Negative stars .. One of the worst barber shop. The guy is very rude and dont even talk nicely until u sit on his chair(its a tactic for getting tips). He also advertises saying his cuts r 8$ per person. But after cut he always makes it 10$ plus saying multiple reasons like it was long, had to do lot of work,its thick all BS. I wouldnt prefer this to anyone. Make a choice do u need to do cutting with a money minded and rude person or u try somewhr else who truly r interested in making converations and give u nice feeling and environment for the same price. I have been to many different places to get my haircut. I've been to Supercuts, too expensive for mediocre haircuts. Other barber shops, wasn't ever impressed. As a man I feel like the best person to understand my thinning hair would be another man. Mr. V is that man. He gave me the first haircut in years where I was extremely impressed. The best thing was that it was a lot less than those fancy haircut places. He even recommend some product for my hair to help thicken it and make it less noticeable that my hair is thinning. I usually go during the daytime and never have to wait. I'm surprised he isn't more busy because he is an excellent barber. read more

I moved in to this city 2 years ago and have been going to Bob ever since today .he has done a really good job at being friendly and respectful for a good year and a half but this last 5 months I went (I go every 2 weeks ) he was rushy and did poorly on my hair only because their was a few more customers I think or he was just in a bad mood . I remember about a month ago I went in and waited for 3 guys to get haircuts . I don't have an issue with waiting , we all need our haircuts . my issue was that a random guy came in and Bob said he came earlier... and went ahead of me after I waited for 3 haircuts . so just because he came earlier that gives him the right to cut in front of me ? Now let me tell you people about what happened today I went in after a good 3 weeks this time . told him I want a taper fade with a medium amount of hair on top . he's given me that before plenty of times . but this time he tells me that it'll look bad with a nasty face . it obviously won't because he's done it many times how I wanted it . as a customer I should be able to get whatever I want even if the barber doesn't quite like the style . so he says it won't work and proceeds cutting my hair doing what he thinks it should look like . he starts off correctly but it slowly starts turning into a bowl cut . its too late now i said to myself I can't turn back now . so he says he's done and shows me the final product and its totally not what I wanted . so I said just give me a number 8 on top with a basic taper fade . he says sheesh and with an attitude he goes "now I gotta cut the hair all over again' and I'm thinking what the heck ? I told him what I wanted and he didn't want to do it and he messed up don't get rude with me . so he quickly and violently cut the top into a number 8 and I Gave him the ten dollars he wanted and ran out of his lousy shop. and all of this happened while some creepy guy was looking into my eyes which is something you don't do in el cajon or in any "hood" area . I also recall a time when a crack head was in there talking to me about space ships and that the FBI was outside looking for him and was gonna shoot him and he asked me for money and was bothering all the customers but what did Bob do ? Nothing he just ignored it while I was being harassed by someone on crack with bloody hands and finger nails. Bob was real friendly and actually cared about his customers personally at first but then he slowly got lazy and annoyed by any haircut that wasn't your basic number 1-8 haircut or buzz cut . this barbershop was good but I don't know what happened . and of course there are other reviews that are good because these people go in every month for a simple shave or haircut . Bob has no issue with that but if I want a more advanced hairstyle he has an issue ? I'm not angry , I'm just disappointed Off to find a new barber goodbye read more

Bob is a cool dude. I've been coming here regularly ( once a week or when I'm too busy every other week ) since I discovered his shop back in 2014. Bob is a nice guy who does a great job giving me what I want, being a Taper Fade. It's convenient for me to come here cause it's on my way home from work, being readily accessible for me.
