I requested an estimate for 3 custom retractable remote control sunshades and 2 custom stationary shades to be installed on the trusses of a gable roof patio for my mother in law. We met with Danny to have him look at our project and discuss our options. He explained what he could do, what we could expect, gave us a quote, and took measurements that same day. After the shades were fabricated he sent his installation crew out to install them. We were completely satisfied with the appearance of all the shades and the operation of the remote-controlled retractable shades. Zach & his crew did a great job of installing the shades. Asked for pictures. Sent them. Then all I get back is "We suggest you to call Abbott Industries for this." Abbot industries is out of business. I ask them why my money isn't good enough for them. Here is what I get... "It's not that we don't want your business. We can give you a price, but we would not be responsible for any framework since it is very old. They don't even make parts for that type of unit anymore. The price would be $3500 + tax for a new cover out of Sunbrella 100% acrylic fabric. Let us know if you would like to proceed. So Bob's assumed I'd what, sue them if my old one broke? It's old, I totally would have bought one from them. (I mistyped in my response to them saying I wouldn't). If it broke, whoever "we" is at Bob's lost out on a job. My advice: If you don't think it's worth their time, trust me they won't think it is either. read more

I am new to the area and we needed to replace a part on one of the existing sunshades. We thought we had the correct part and when I went to replace it there was a problem with the size. I called late on a Friday and left a message that I would be in first thing on Monday morning. When I walked in the correct size part was waiting on the counter. Just used Bob's Canvas for the 2nd time and couldn't be happier. The first time was about 4 years ago. I ordered a horizontal, house-wide awning for my upper deck. The material matches the color of my home and looks awesome. It is retractable, and 4 years later, still works like new. The supports are very sturdy and with the superior fabric of the awning, the temperature in my upper level drops 10-20 degrees when it's extended! This is the second time I've had the pleasure of using the services of Bob's Canvas. The first time was several years ago when we had a canvas awning installed over our sliding glass door for our bedroom. A couple weeks ago, while napping I heard a flapping sound coming from the awning and discovered the awning was starting to come apart. I called Bob's and explained the issues with our awning and providing them with photos. They sent someone to our home removed the awning, repaired it and reinstalled it the next day. It is refreshing to have a relationship with a company that stands by their workmanship and their products. I am VERY surprised to see any negative reviews for Bob's Canvas. We have used them for 2 different jobs at our home and have never had a single complaint! The electric retractable shades in our backyard are amazing. When they installed the first 2, they used a level to make sure they were perfectly matched and programed 2 remotes for different areas of the house. That was I believe in May. Skip to now, we had a 3rd electric awning in the backyard installed to match the other 2 & it's just perfect. They reprogramed the remotes to add the 3rd awning. We also had them install the scalloped custom shades for our front courtyard which are to die for awesome. Danny even relocated 2 security cameras so the shades and awnings did not interfere with our security system. Danny also came by several times to make certain this custom job was measured correctly. Above & beyond professional & the crew REALLY know what they are doing when they install & are clearly very happy to work together. All of my neighbors have used Bob's Canvas & highly recommended them. We are THRILLED beyond with the finished product and the company. I will add pictures when I can figure out how to do that! BUYER BEWARE: As an existing customer, I signed a contract with Bob's Canvas in February 2020 to repair three awnings that this firm installed previously. The stitching had rotted and the awnings were coming undone far short of their guarantee of 10 years. Despite repeated calls to their office, they still would not commit to a date. On one of my calls I asked if their office had limited staffing due to the pandemic, they said they were in fact busy and had been open the entire time! The receptionist finally allowed me to talk to the owner (previously she would only say that they would call me) who admitted that he was no longer interested in completing the repair, because they had many more larger jobs. He would only do the work if I replaced all of the awnings. He admitted that he should have contacted me and that he was not going to honor his contract (which verified to me that he had intentionally ignored me). When I told him that I was going to give him a poor review on Yelp, his exact quote was "do what you gotta do". As a side note, after reaching out to several other firms explaining the rotted stitching, they indicated that they guaranteed their awnings and stitching for 10 years and that my stitching should never have rotted when they did. In summary- if you want awnings that will actually last as long as they claim; this is not the company you want! read more

What kind of mickey mouse operation is this? Came out to take measurements, but couldn't give me a quote that day for some reason. More than a month later, and I still don't have a quote. They were supposed to email the quote in a day or two - never happened. 2 weeks later I emailed the company using their online form - no response. Another 2 weeks later I call them and they apologize and tell me I'll get a call that afternoon - call never came. Complete waste of time. read more

Slightly more expensive but considering the materials and quality craftsmanship, it was well worth it. Jim was able to get me a rendering for HOA approval. Jim supervised everything from start to finish. I invited him to come out and quote the job. We found a time within just a few days that worked for both of us. When Jim came out, he measured and spent time talking with us about options and materials. He did not rush us at all, nor put any pressure on us to buy. During installation, he brought his crew, his A team. These guys were polite, professional, easy to work with, and the installation was absolutely flawless. They were respectful of my home and property and left the area cleaner than when they started. When is comes to expectations I'm easy; prompt replies , be on-time, and don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. This company did neither for me and just wasted my time. I requested an estimate and they took 4 days to call me back and schedule (over the weekend). The appointment window comes and the sales guy does not show. 30 min later I get a call that he forgot and got tied up but he could get here in 30 min. I had to get my kids from school and could not do the appointment 1 hr late. For some reason the sales guy could not reschedule till that afternoon. So we reschedule finally and the sales man shows up late once again (17 min this time) but at least he showed. He gets the details he needs but unlike other companies he cannot get me an estimate on site. So I have to wait. While this is going on I have been messaging with the owner, letting them know my dissatisfaction with the salesmans tardiness. Rather than make thing right they refuse to give me an estimate on the grounds that they are too busy to meet my request. He was very courteous but again I'm baffled by their behavior. So be aware, these guys have so much business they don't care about business from their potential future customers. read more

I hired Bob's Canvas to replace an awning canvas that was damaged from painters. Danny at Bob's Canvas did an amazing job. I got a total of 3 estimates prior to choosing Bob's Canvas, but what separated Bob's Canvas from the other 2 companies is that they were the only company out of the 3 that mentioned anything about my awning frame. Included with the price quoted to replace the awning canvas was a complete inspection of my frame, and repairing any issues. Turns out the painters who damaged my canvas also put a long scratch in the powder coat finish plus they got paint on the frame, and somehow bent the mounting flanges. Bob's canvas repaired all of that, and honestly the frame looks like new. Additionally, their prices were very competitive. I could not be happier with the quality, price, and service. I highly recommend Bob's Canvas they are the only company I will ever use for my awning. read more
