I had Affordable Window Coverings install a motorized window shade some years ago in the master bath, above the tub window. It worked wonderfully, with the convenience of a remote control for opening and closing the shade without stepping into the tub. After some years, maybe 10 years, the motor stopped working. I contacted Affordable Window Coverings and they sent out a worker to investigate. It was determined the motor was not reparable. I asked if the motor could be replaced as I liked the shade, they answered no and indicated I would need to replace everything, shade and motor. Since I wanted to keep the shade, I contacted another window covering service, Budget Blinds of Corona. They replaced the motor, allowing me to keep the shade, and the motorized window shade is now working beautifully again. read more

I needed some repair work done on my blinds and they referred me to an independent contractor they use. I called and left a message with him 3x and he never returned my call. When I called Affordable to let them know their contractor was flaking out, they hung up on me. They may do good work, but their customer service is pretty sad. read more

They installed high quality shutters in our studio in 2018 and they were the choice to install new shutters in our addition in 2023. The experience from start to finish was undeniably professional and expertly executed. We were impressed when they were able to design shutters for a small window over the kitchen sink. We sought out 3 quotes and this company was not the lowest priced but we felt they were reasonable especially with the shutters we received. We liked that they offered the type of shutters without the pole in the middle. We ordered one shade by Graber in a little nook. The installers did a great job and they cleaned up thoroughly at completion. We love the look! And, we would gladly recommend them! read more

Shutters are cheap, do not close or open properly, had then out to adjust for $75 they said there was nothing they could do, called and complained and they sent me half of the $75. Now they are getting worse. Had another company install the other half of my house and they are many times over much better. read more

The owner's kid is one of the field reps. He was proud to say his family owns the business and I guess you should take pride in that. Thing is while measuring our windows he starts making inappropriate remarks to my wife. My wife saw I was ready to say something so she just quickly ushered him out of the house. He said something like oh we should cover this window in case you do laundry naked or take your clothes off and throw it straight in the wash. When measure windows by our front door he said oh we should cover this in case someone rings your door and you're naked. I quickly saw why he was proud to say it's his parent's business. No consequences to him. He can be as obnoxious and rude as he wants and he won't lose his job. We put this behind us. Years later at costco we decided to get a quote and turns out this is the company costco partners with. We quickly remembered and said no thanks. We even told the scheduler who called us but she sounded like ok nothing will happen to that kid. I would avoid this place. Many other options out there. read more

This review is long overdue. I wanted to put Shutters in my house and decided to go through Costco. Jason came to our home and was absolutely delightful as well as knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything to me and help me decide on what would fit in my house and different options for blinds and shutters. My window frames were a little tricky ,I had no framing on my windows, which made it tricky to measure, but somehow he got the measurements absolutely perfect. The price was right, great value for a great product. Rocky installed our shutters and did an amazing job as well. We've had our Shutters now for one year and they look fantastic in our house. We decided to update the front window coverings and front door of our house this year. We started with Costco (cause who doesn't) and that connected us to Graber for the shutters and blinds and then to Affordable Window Coverings for the installation. The process was seamless and flexible. We had to delay the installation until we finished installing an iron door - messy/dusty part of the process. The install team and Graber were both understanding and, as mentioned, flexible. I did not know this, but shutters come in a lot of pieces. The install team of Travis and Mike were friendly and helpful. They also were very patience with me as the engineer in me was fascinated by the install and assembly process. The overall results were fantastic and Allen (Graber) design process and discussion of our options (materials, rails/split rails/hidden rails, split shutter (top and bottom on different rails to allow light in and keep privacy) were spot on and executed wonderfully by Travis/Mike. read more

Installer butchered my door with multiple screw holes. This was a brand new door, the company wouldn't agree to repaint my door yet they sent another Installer back out to re-install the shutter. At least this guy was able to plumb it. I will never use them again! read more

At first I was only going to have about half of my windows covered but we took Marc's advise and had all 25 windows covered. BEST thing we could have done. Overpriced. Consultant Paul straight out says $500 per motorized window not to include the shades these are battery operated not hard wired. So 6 windows plus a sliding door was quoted over $9500. I apologize if this isn't the right company, but I had gone through Costco to look for blinds. I was contacted by Taylor with Affordable Window Coverings on behalf of Costco after I initiated a conversation. I was asked to take measurements and send a photo which I did. After their reply with a bid I wanted to have someone come out and show me samples, confirm my measurements, etc. We attempted to set up something by texting, but it was hard to nail down a time so my last text was "It depends, can you just call me?" The installer of my drapes hung them three times to get the height correct. I was left with the walls in need of repair from the holes drilled. The installer was very unpleasant and unprofessional. The drapes lining didn't match up with the drapes themselves, so they don't hang properly. They were also extremely expensive. My husband & I purchased plantation shutters from this company. The final decision to go with Affordable Window Coverings vs Vineyard Blind & Shutter was the owner's son promised my husband & I in writing that we would "never" be charged a trip charge to come back, look at, or fix the product. After our shutters were installed and we paid the final amount owed, we received an email stating, "Any repairs on your shutters are covered at free of no charge for the 1st year , anything outside of the one year, any repair to send one of our installers out would be a trip charge of $75.00." My husband called the owner assuming this was a simple misunderstanding. The owner told my husband, "That's weird. We don't usually offer that but if that's what was offered to you, we can make it happen." I emailed the company back after this conversation had occurred and asked for this agreement in writing to keep for future use. The last email we received from the office manager stated the following: "Good Morning Leah, Marc was the person that instructed me to have you reach out to him directly, as I advised him that you wanted me to state in writing that all your trip charges for a lifetime were to be free of charge as we do not offer that to anyone through Affordable Window Coverings. Please reach out to Marc at 951-757-6449. Thank you" Please see attached screenshots. Once I shared I was comparing the two companies, I was told that Affordable Window Coverings has the same plantation shutter manufacturer as Vineyard Blind & Shutter so it is the exact same product. I wish I would have known the way in which this business chooses to conduct themselves before making such a large purchase. This is the only bad review I have left for a company because I believe people make mistakes and things can be worked out privately. After trying to speak with the business directly and providing them proof of this written agreement, it still was not honored. I usually give good reviews if you look at my history of reviews I actually hate to give crappy reviews but when a company deserves it, they get one. That being said I have remodeled 5 homes in San Diego and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars doing it.....Getting one shade done by these guys was a fiasco. -People showing up at the wrong times -Not showing up -Wrong color -Unprofessional attitude from sales and the office Suggestions: When someone buys a product leave them with a color swatch of what they are getting. Not a name that the sales person writes that makes no sense to a customer. The sales person ended up ordering the wrong one and tried to pin it on me. Use technology- meaning there are systems out there that makes scheduling much easier. When a person calls and wants to talk to a manager don't ignore them... In the end the manufacturing company made it right. This whole process took over 10 hours to do one shade.... I could have done it myself in 1 hour, now I wish I did. $1000 for one shade and I spent 10 -14 hours meeting and being away from work and my family. So this shade ended up costing me $1500-$2000 time involved... Never did they offer a discount for all of this and didn't follow up after the correct one got installed to see if I was happy. Very bad service. I made an appointment a couple weeks out. Sam came, she spend two hours at my house. I picked what i wanted i was very excited because my windows are very small and was hard to fine a good fit. She said she would call me with pricing because she was unable to give me the pricing right there and then. Months past and nothing. I would never do business with them again. I went somewhere else and it was done in two weeks. I went in person to complain about this and they said they would call her to see what happened and still a month later no call to apologize or explain what happened. BEWARE!!! Don't purchase through Costco or otherwise!! This company is a rip off and blames the customer. We purchased 10 window coverings from them and when they were installed, two of the valances were wrinkled and 4 of the shades had pinholes in them. They immediately blamed the manufacturer and my design consultant said this happened to 2 other customers. Furthermore, the designer never showed me all the options for window coverings and the owner said I (the customer) should've known the product and asked to have the sample brought. When I asked my designer if a different shade was an option for me at the time of our visit she said yes, but they are new and she didn't have the samples yet!!! So now I'm stuck with shades I don't want and are damaged!! Similar complaints on the BBB website regarding this company as well. read more

Originally we had an experienced and knowledgeable employee rep from this company come out and helped us find and order the perfect window coverings for our home, we put half the money down and then didn't hear back for weeks later and didn't find out until we called a few times and leaving messages that the original experienced employee was no longer with the company. The owner came out and was talking down on his employee, but he was the inexperienced one and he was unprepared when he came out and couldn't find the product we had ordered and insisted and pushed heavily we instead order another type of window covering we didn't want. The window coverings the owner measured for and insisted we had to order instead look awful and weren't measured properly and look cheap and ugly!! Bought expensive motorized blinds (among other window coverings). Three years later two window cords broke. I had Affordable come out to repair. They said repairs would take 1 to 2 weeks. Two months later I finally got my drapes back after multiple unreturned calls to find out what the delays were. Four days after the reinstall, the exact same cords broke again. I called them and asked for my $ back because I didn't want to wait another possible two months again with no window coverings in my bedroom or with temporary paper curtains where I couldn't open my windows. Two months later after multiple unreturned calls again, today they said they would give me a small portion of my $ back and they didn't want me for a customer any longer. Trust me, I have no problem with that but this was a huge insult because I've been nothing but courteous whenever I called them. If I even get this amount back it will be a miracle. I would think these repairs would be under warranty as I've had them less than five years. This debacle is a new one for me and I hope this helps someone in the future who considers utilizing this business. read more

From the time they came out and measured my windows and help me decide what would be the best coverings to a timely matter of installation. The men, John and Rocky were on time for the scheduled appointment and they installed the blinds in a timely manner. They went over everything from operation of the blinds to the warranty. He showed up with a mask and had no problem putting shoe coverings over his shoes. We scored big and had the honor of meeting Mark the owner. I am giving 2 stars vs 1, because the window coverings do look good and the man who installed them was fast and kind. Other than that, my experience was awful. My experience could have been A LOT better. I went through Costco's third party vendor which was Affordable window coverings. When I got my quote in the first week of May, I was told that the blinds would be installed in 2 weeks. My blinds were finally installed this week...almost EIGHT WEEKS LATER. I reached out to the person who gave me a quote (I will keep her name anonymous) at week 5 as I had received no email or communication although my card had been charged 4 weeks prior. Mind you, every time she came out to give a quote/assessment, she was extremely late and I was super understanding each time because I work remote. I was given zero apology for the significant delay or lack of communication when I reached out and expressed my frustrations. I had given plenty of grace up until this point (week 5) and she pretty much just said "It looks like your order is delayed" and instructed me to call the office, so I called the office between weeks 5 - 8 several times to get updates and to express my frustration with the delay and severe lack of communication. I did not get a hint of any sincerity or apologies not even for the delay (which I would have been understanding of if there was clear communication up front) but for the lack of communication. It truly felt like a scam as my card was charged immediately and I had nothing to show for it for almost 2 months. When I first signed up to get a quote, I was getting calls every other day. The second I paid my substantial invoice (thousands of dollars) the customer service and communication was terrible. Every time I called someone it seemed like they wanted to push me off to another department, the person who gave me the quote said to call the office and whenever I called the office to obtain an update on my delivery and asked to book the installation as soon as possible, I was told the installation department would call me when they received my full order. I desperately wanted to cancel my order because the service was awful, but with the heat wave in CA, I just went forward with the installation as so much time was already wasted. I would absolutely not recommend Affordable Window Coverings. It was extremely expensive, but I thought it would be worth it to go through a "trusted" Costco vendor as Costco had never steered us wrong in the past and had always provided optimal customer service. I was wrong, it was again, extremely expensive and the customer service and delays were awful. Would not recommend to friends or family. read more

They called me after the initial signup at Costco, but missed the call when I returned call another rep took down what I was looking to have done. Since I had relative measurements they said they would send me a rough estimate, but never received anything. About a week later a whole different emailed me asking what I was looking for, I responded via email with the same information and relative dimensions. Now another week later and no response. So much time has passed that the Costco promotion has changed and doesn't seem worth my extra time and effort to buy something from them. Definitely passing this experience along to Costco. I got estimates from Vineyard Blinds and Window Decorators and they were charging the same amount but providing off name brands. We really love our new custom plantation shutters which included sixteen shutters with custom arches, plus one fabric shade in the master bath. I worked with Adrienne on the schedule where she helped us get everyone to our place for each step of the process. James came over and got us started with the initial design, measurements, suggestions and appropriate material for our home. Josh recommended Sunland Shutters design would be a perfect fit because of the arches on our windows. It was manufactured and design all in one piece and opened on one side for easy access to the windows. Kyle and Rocky did an excellent job and completed the installation in no time at all! This is the first time that I am giving a company 1 Star!!! I feel that we didn't get what was promised. We saw an advertisement through Costco and we made an appointment to have shutters installed in our home. Paul came in and was very pleasant and he said that he'll give us a better deal if we went directly with their company and not with Costco, therefore we did just that! Wrong choice on our behalf, they promised us our shutters will be ready in 6 weeks which it took them more then 8 weeks and that's because we called their office to follow through. Or else we wouldn't have been informed. Finally after weeks of waiting the crew came to install our shutters (by the way very very professional and knowledgeable) I have no complaints about the staff. it's management and the customer service! The one star is given because our shutters were not completed they missed 2 sets of panels one which was in my kids room (not cool) and the main one in my kitchen, according to them the measurements were wrong?? (They are the experts how did they make this mistake) it has been a few more weeks and we are still waiting for those 2 sets of shutters to arrive!!!! We called the company to express our complaint and that this is unacceptable on their behalf and we wanted to be reimbursed for the job not done on those shutters and they responded " we don't reimburse this is how we do business " Never again will we use this company!
