A terrible experience from start to finish. After waiting weeks, their installer arrives and spends six hours removing the existing floor. Then he disappears for weeks, with one lame excuse (bad weather, flat tire...) after another. They wouldn't let us return the material, not even for a restocking fee. And they tried to charge us a ridiculous amount ($5,600) for the six hours of labor they did. Finally, we contacted the corporate headquarters and they gave us satisfaction, accepting the return of the material for a restocking fee and correcting the "accidental" overcharge for labor, a $3,300 downward adjustment. There are other competent and honest flooring companies in Sarasota. This is one to be avoided. read more

We had bobs floors do ALL the floors in our modular home. We had some soft spots. We told them we never wanted to have to do the floors again. So no skimping. They fixed the soft spots. That was fine. 1 year later we have new soft spots , worse than before. We had another floor guy come in and , he said we used viral plank we should have done the whole subfloor , because vinyl plank won't breath so the original floors are now crumbling. Our feelings are that bobs should have told us that. We would have done all the sub floor back then. We don't know about the correct way to do floors. So Bobs says they are not responsible. So now we have to do it all over again. read more

We picked Bob's because of their selection, pricing and location. The first installers had an attitude issue and were replaced by one hard working man that installed 3 rooms of carpet. However, he did not use a power stretcher and instead, used a knee kicker. One year and a few months later we noticed wrinkles in two of the three rooms. The solution is to have the rooms re stretched. I inquired at the Venice location and they said the one year warranty is up. I understand this but if you want to receive referrals and positive feedback, I would expect Bob's to send , at no charge, someone to come and use a power stretcher as should have been done from the beginning. As a result, I will not recommend Bob's to friends or anyone I know. read more

Called Bob's Carpet for help with a carpet repair, spoke with Bobby Middleton and he told me that he'd do whatever he could to help. I went into the store and he did exactly that, found me a sample piece of carpet that matches and didn't charge me anything for it. Also, provided me with the number for a professional carpet repairman. Great customer service at Bob's carpet. Definitely will return when I have more carpet needs. Thank you! read more

We've had mixed problems and successes with Bobs Carpet in Venice, FL but only with one person. My mom purchased carpet and installation for three rooms several months ago and then their sales person Gary called and said that miraculously the carpet had come in early. So we picked a date and brought in several people from Miami to help move furniture for the big day. We called the day before to confirm and the person stated that they would be there but would call first. As noon rolled by we were wondering if these guys would be super installers because there was no way they were going to get this done in one day. So we called Bobs and inquired where the installers were and low and behold they had no idea what we were talking about. Gary our salesman and contact wasn't in that day but he called us back and told us that he didn't have us in the book. I told him we had called to confirm the day before and he stated that we must have misunderstood the confirmation. This is where it gets interesting. So we told Gary to cancel the order since we had apparently been misunderstood. I asked him if he understood that we were canceling and he clearly understood. So that was it until miraculously (there were several miracles in this transaction) Gary called back and confirmed that the installers would be there the next day. Praise the lord. Another miracle. So the installation went off without a hitch even if we did have to pay our workers for the day to come from Miami. So now a month later we had a large remnant left over. 7x10. Mom wanted more carpeting in another room and Gary came out and quoted. He even rolled out the remnant in the driveway and told mom that he'd bind it for free as an inducement to sign. So I called and spoke to Gary to arrange payment and somehow free binding went to $2.75/foot. Gary told me that my mom was once again misunderstood. (No miracle this time) just more misunderstandings. So I ended the call with Gary but my mom was pissed. She called Gary back and chewed him out some more for going back on his offer. Once again he said she was misunderstood. So there were a lot of misunderstandings in this transaction. It's crazy that only we had the misunderstandings. Herein lies the basis of our disappointment. We had two miracles and five misunderstandings. So the two stars given were for the miracles. We love the carpet, the installers were great but what a hassle for my mother. Unfortunately Venice has a lot of these types of companies. Air Conditioning companies come to mind but I digress. I could go on ad infinitum on all the crazy business scams in Venice. With such a concentration of senior citizens in Venice it's a hive of phone scammers and other rip off artists. So buyer beware. Get it in writing the day the offer is made, and don't leave without reading it thoroughly and if they wont put in writing run like hell and pray you don't get a Gary. read more

DO NOT USE BOB CARPET!!! If I could I would have given this company zero stars. I am not one to write reviews, however, these scammers need to be shown to the community. I purchased carpet and plank laminate flooring. Once installed, within 6 months the carpet was lifting everywhere due to not stretching it enough which lead to the carpet FALLING APART! Strings were coming up and when I called Bob's carpet their solution was just to cut the strings that were coming up. They had one of THEIR worker's out (which was told it was a carpet rep. they lied). The report stated it was due to the dogs and their conclusion is they weren't doing anything for us. I was shocked to believe that my two small dogs could ruin expensive carpet... especially considering I told Gary we had 2 dogs and needed a good grade carpet. Which lead him to the recommendation of the carpet we purchased from Bob's carpet. Since they refused to refund us, we had to call our credit card company and fight this out. Never got fully reimbursed. Now we are getting our kitchen done and had to remove some plank flooring that was installed by Bob's carpet, come to find out that the installers did not put plastic everywhere... there is BLACK MOLD on the bottom of the planking. I called the store and spoke with Gary and of course between the manager and sales staff they all ACT concerned but DO NOTHING about the situation. They say they are going to get back with you and NEVER DO! When you call them back asking if they spoke to anyone they state it has to go to corporate. It takes forever to get a response from corporate and when you do get a response they don't want to help at all (all attitude). It's all about a sale and they do not warranty their work!!! This place should be shut down for their horrible business practices! I purchased carpet from James Hopkins at the location on 22nd Avenue N in St. Pete and my whole experience was nothing short of a disaster. The installers looked more like filthy roofers, they didn't have enough carpet to complete my job and if this wasn't bad enough one of them took my bottle of Jim Beam in to my bathroom and helped himself. No way I would ever recommend this company to ANYONE. I spoke with James several times about rectifying the situation and each time I spoke to him he acted like he had know idea what I was talking about. Anyway 5 weeks later, three return visits and four days of missed work later my carpet is finished. read more

Decent pricing. Good selection. Customer service was not good at all. Install was to be done at 9am on Friday morning. Manager called me 4pm Thursday to tell me they could not be there til Saturday. Would not have been a problem, but we had company arriving Sunday. She(manager) could only tell me they had a glitch. No offer to compensate or even an apology. Buyer Beware! If you are seasonal here in Florida you might want to reconsider Bobs. We had carpet put in on Feb 13th 2015 and when I came down a couple weeks ago I noticed that the carpet was wrinkled up. When I contacted Bobs they refused to help me because it was 3 weeks past the 2 year warranty. Now I will have to pay to have it stretched. I will never deal with Bobs again. This room is a spare bedroom and only has been used a handful of times. It should not need stretching. read more

We are very disgusted & frustrated by the service we were provided by Bob's Carpet Mart. We visited the store in Venice comparing prices to Lowe's with the intent of only putting carpet in our 3 bedrooms living/dining room. We spoke with Mike, told him our situation that we just bought a new house and wanted to price carpet for it. He offered to come out and measure and give us a quote. Great! Well it all went down hill from here. Mike did come & measure but informed us that he would be doing us a disservice if he put carpet in, it would cost way too much and our house really needed tile. Great! Quote us for both and we will decide. Upon talking it over we decided he was right and we would carpet the 3 bedrooms and tile throughout the rest. I informed him I had not closed on my house yet, and it was only in my name because my fiance had a BK 3 years ago and we were trying to rebuild his credit. So we wanted the credit to be in his name only if possible. Great! So he said his computer was down but for both of us to fill out a credit app but he will only run it on Jim and if he needs me to be a co borrower he will run us joint. He called the next day and stated Jim was approved for the whole loan $6000. after our down payment of $2000. cash, so I will send all of your information back home with Jim when he comes in to sign. He did send my info home & I shredded it. The tile was installed and it looked beautiful. Mike called me to inform that Jim was only approved for $2500. & he needed to get the rest paid. I was shock & asked how could this happen. He stated he did not know but he was very worried. I said OK Mike I will go joint with Jim But under NO circumstances are you to run the application on me alone. It could be under Jim's name alone or under Jim with me as joint. I told him this over & over because I could not afford to have 2 payments. But I could tell in his voice he was willing to do whatever he need to to get paid. So sure enough he called me back & said all is good Joyce. I got you approve for $5000. and we put $1000. under Jim. I blew up. He did exactly what I over & over told him NOT to do! Big mess. And when Jim was approved for 2500. why would you take it upon yourself to put $5000. under me & $1000. under Jim? I not an attorney but I believe credit fraud was committed. He said he had to do what he needed to get this paid so he didn't loose his job and he was not willing to tell his boss or call the financial institution to straighten it out. I ended up getting a hold of the manager and she immediately took over the situation. She "Lee" was professional & we felt she would take care of the situation. She stated we would need to fill out a whole new credit app submit it & have our credit reports ran AGAIN. Not good on our credit scores. Reluctantly we did. We wanted it all to be right & Bob's get paid. Everything was approved. Carpet was the to be laid on a Thur. But stated it was pushed to Fri. Fine! We were excited to see the carpet Fri. until we arrived & realized they put the WRONG padding under our carpet. Lee informed us she would do what she needed to make us happy. Well she ended up sending me an email stating we received the right padding and I would like to drop your key off. WORST purchase experience ever. My exciting 1st time home buying experience was totally destroyed by the staff of Bob's Carpet. Now for years to come we will have to walk on this concrete carpet of a bad memory. The only positive thing I have to say is about the installers. They did a very good job. I will never be a repeat customer of recommend them. But I do want the buyer to beware of business.
