Unfortunately, I'm not in the area that much, and only once did I make the journey just to come here. What is the draw, you may ask? Great beer, great food, great atmosphere, great vibes! , That said, every meal I have had here has been delicious. The beer is pretty darn good & cold too! Of course, with the long drive...ya gotta limit it. But it's worth it for anything on the menu. I don't know where to start food-wise, I am trying to eat my way around the menu. The gator tail and fish dip are two of my favorites for small bites/appetizers. The Elk burger, the Taphouse burger, and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich are always amazing....and then there's the cole slaw...yummy! Delicious food, and they have more than just sandwiches. The menu offers a little something different. The atmosphere and vibe are always inviting, and the staff is super friendly. The prices are fair, portions are ample, and there is plenty of parking. The decor is fun too! Not to mention, they give a veteran discount with proof of ID. What more can you ask for? Well, I know what I can ask for! To the owners: pretty please, with sugar on top, consider opening a location in St. Augustine. Not in the downtown area, but the folks north of town need something; they need you! Around the Palencia & Kensington area, off US 1 to be exact...or anywhere nearby in that area. What We Ordered: - Oyster Po Boy: my boyfriend and his momma split this, and they both said it was okay though they HATED the gumbo. Very unfortunate as when splitting they had to pay for an additional portion of it. - Blackened Mahi Sandwich: this was recommended by our waitress who started out fantastic, but ultimately disappeared after food delivered so I went without a drink for quite some time. I did eat enough a portion of mine before running out of coke, so I had to pause eating as I need a liquid as I eat. I had split this with my boyfriend, so he enjoyed his fully warm. Mine was good for those first few bites, and really enjoyed the fries. They remind me of the filmstrip fries you can get in Disney's California Adventure. - Coke + Lime: if the machine is calibrated, this is always a win for me! It definitely made a travel day better. Sadly, between the waitress being inattentive after the food was delivered and there being quite the unsavory show being played, this was a miss for me. Who plays Steve Wilkos in a restaurant? It's the modern day Jerry Springer show. We showed up and it was closed for a private party, which honestly felt like a bust at first. So we pivoted and decided to try somewhere new and ended up at Junior's. Best decision we could have made. From the second we walked in, the staff took great care of us. Super friendly, welcoming, and on it the whole time. The food came out fast, hot, and everything was on point. The seafood was fresh, the fried items were crispy and clean, not greasy, and the sauces were legit. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. And then we topped it off by taking a whole key lime pie home with us which was just as good as everything else. They even took a photo of our family for us, which was a cool touch and just shows the kind of place this is. Safe to say what started as a backup plan just turned into our new favorite seafood spot. I decided to give them another shot this past Wednesday, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it didn't improve. This time, I was told that oysters can no longer be prepared a certain way because it's considered a "special order." Instead, you're limited to however they choose to serve them.....either raw or lightly steamed. For a seafood spot, that's a bit surprising. Most people have a preference when it comes to oysters, and being told you can't customize your order feels restrictive. After speaking with the manager, she did agree to accommodate my request this one time (for one or two dozen), but also made it clear that moving forward, it wouldn't be allowed. That response didn't sit well with me....it gave the impression that customer preferences aren't really a priority. Between the long wait times, limited availability, and lack of flexibility with orders, I left feeling unpleased and unsatisfied. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll be returning.

Of course I needed to have this meal courtesy of my mom. It's been forever since I had decent garlic crab legs and this place did not disappoint. Usually places want to give you garlic butter and the crab legs barely have flavor. Here, every bite of crab meat was seasoned. They even sale their sauces for anyone to purchase. The gentleman working there on a Sunday filling in for the owner was friendly. One important thing my mom did is confirm that she wanted to have the food warned up. She mentioned that they don't do unless you ask, as it's easier to serve quick and allow the people to heat to their choice or have them do. The ambiance of this place is fresh seafood of all kinds, and not a place to sit and eat. The small dive locations are always the best and this is no different.

It's a buffet, so we didn't have too much interaction with our server. They have a good selection of food laid out and with any buffet, no matter how much we protest this comment, I think we go more for the quantity rather than the quality.
